Grady plays the crossword thing pretty good. When he hung in my joint in Chicago (The 4'B's Club... he speaks well of it in his book), he and I gambled on everything, including crosswords and Scrabble. He's pretty crispy with the Scrabble game too. Extremely competitive man. I think he's nuts too, and yes he is dangerous, but you gotta love him.

So you are saying that Grady is good at crosswords and cross words. See what I did there?

I'm here all week folks.

It looks like you have come off the stall, I cannot find a single misspelled word in this post, just missing one apostrophe mark in the word can't;) ;)

Welcome Back and stay here this time.

Goodluck! The pic in my avatar is just a ladies hand on a mouse. Nothing more. :)

Come to think of it, that avatar does remind me of something...I just can't quite put my finger on it. :)

Keep your finger away from my avatar, buddy.

I think your avatar is beautiful, but VULGAR. I intend to look at it even more closely when I've cleaned the saliva off my screen....

Grady

has done lots for the sport. Isn't it amazing, how all these 'wannabes' want someone to retire because they still can not beat them on the table ... ROFL
kids, glad they are someone else's .... LMAO

IgMo - Have you ever heard of 'Time in rank'? Well, Grady has plenty.

Besides, Grady probably gets pissed at a**holes trying to '1 up' him all the time, I would to.

I'm 60, why don't you try to come and retire me, on the table? Bring lots of cash!

Back in the mid 80's, I used to go to the tournaments in Dayton Ohio. Forest Park Billiards was always loaded with Champions gambling. I watched countless times while Freddie and Grady gambled. Those will always be some of my favorite memories of pool. I haven't spoken with Freddie much, other than to say hi. But I've had the pleasure of chatting with Grady a few times. As I started reading this thread the other day, it just amazed me. For someone to come on here and say stuff like,"Grady needs to quit. Leave pool alone to help it's image and quit setting a bad example". It's sickening. My guess is, this person hasn't been around pool all that long. What has Grady done for pool? Let's see, He's a Living Legend. Right along side Freddie, Billy Incardone, Buddy Hall, Allen Hopkins, and a slew of other Greats. Does he play the same speed today? NO. Will you ever play near his speed when he was younger? I doubt it. Few will.

My rule for life in general is, if you don't like someone, stay away from them. If you don't like Grady, don't go to his room. If you see him at a tournament, don't talk to him. Leave the man alone and let him run his life. If he wants to gamble, it's his money. If he wants to compete in tournaments, it's because he loves pool. Is he outspoken? Yea, he is. He has that passion for pool, even after all this time. He's done more for pool than most of us will ever do.
Every person you ever meet, will have good points and bad points. When you step back and look at their list, and they have more bad points than good, maybe you should stay away from them. But everyone is entitled to live their life, in the manner they choose. I personally would like to see Grady play til he decides he don't want to any more. His GOOD POINTS, definitely outweigh his bad.

Nice post SP

Well, I had was involved in an incident with Grady years ago (that I will not re-hash on here) and against better judgement, I chose to "air" it on here. He and I went back and forth about it on here and I took some pretty harsh remarks and things got out of hand even to the point that I almost got banned from AZ. But, at no time did I ever try and discredit Grady for the things the has done for this sport. Aside from his great commentating and tournaments, the guy put one pocket on the map. Look at how many players at all levels play one pocket today...and I credit it all to Grady and his videos and articles in the billiard magazines.. He is also an excellent instructor from what I have heard and he has as much billiard knowledge as anyone. My personal incident with Grady was unfortunate and if he happens to read this, I hope we can chalk it up to miscommunication and move forward, but no one in their right mind can say that he hasnt done anything for this sport. JMO.

A lot of the time, it's guys who have only been around the pool world for a couple{5 years or less} years who talk about the older guys don't have it. And generally, it will turn out to be just an average player, who thinks they know it all. I agree with you that Grady has done much to help pool.

Wow!!!!!

If your ever in Colrado Springs, go to Antique Billiards, on the wall there's a poster...back when Grady ran for Mayor...not an idle man...is he, was he or ever will he be....he likes action of any and all kinds.

Hey snap, did you play jam up bar table and had backers with big pocket in TX? Did you also have a lady friend, in her day, played dam good, were U the one with that obnoxious BUS/Road machine?:D :D
FWIW I did see Grady beat Buddy Hall in his late prime in Reno 11-0.
Grady has no quit in him, only readjust and keep it going.
