Great Music To Get You Pumped For Pool

Lately

I have been listening to alot of explosions in the sky. It's some really goos chill music. I just strap on the ipod and get to work on the old drills. Explosions in the Sky are a great band, and I think they will definately become bigger in due time. If anyone on here watches the show friday night lights, EITS does all the music throughout the show. I also enjoy throwing some converge or minus the bear. good stuff

Love this kind of thread!!!

Favorites... not necessarly to get pumped

Wolfmother - Joker and the thief
Counting Crows - Mr. Jones
Danko Jones - Lover call
Goo goo dolls
Grand funk railroad - I just want to celebrate
Hard Fi - Hard to beat
James Brown - The big payback
Jimmy eat world
Kanye West - Touch the sky
Linkin Park - Faint and all the others
Matthew Good Band
Placebo - Every you and every me
Pearl Jam
Styx - Renegade
The wallflowers - One headlight
TV on the radio - Staring at the sun

and so many others...

Hmm...12256 songs on this computer. That's 67 gigs and 35 days of music. My playlist changes daily but here's a couple things I've noticed...

I've never lost while listening to Rage Against the Machine or The Smashing Pumpkins
I've never won while listening to Audioslave and Tool
Due to the strange situation regarding Rage and Audioslave, I'm hesitant about listening to A Perfect Circle since Tool ranks so low in preferable pool music.

Although I have been seen at a rave or two (hehe), techno bothers me while playing pool. So no Prodigy, Crystal Method, Oakenfold, or Tiesto

Country = disastrous

Punk rock gives me ADD but the Mighty Mighty Bosstones mellow me out. Best to leave the NOFX and Pennywise in the car.

This Is Why I'm Hot by Mimz makes me want to shoot myself so I take a smoke break whenever someone decides to play that piece of $&*#

For some reason, Yoshimi by The Flaming Lips makes me play better.

Indie/garage band music = good while shooting pool...not so great while driving fast.

And anytime is a great time for Bone Thugs-n-Harmony

Note: Please understand that most of these observations directly relate to shooting pool. I enjoy all forms of music, especially Tool.

aww
if you're gonna go deftones say "7 little words"

I have a play mix that I run on my iPod when I am getting ready for a match in Vegas. Each year it will vary according to what I am listening to at the time, but a few songs always find their way on it:

It's in the way that you use it - Eric Clapton
I just wanna love you (give it to me) - Jay-Z
Stuck in a moment - U2
Helena & Ghosts of you - My Chemical Romance
Bottom - Tool
Saltshaker - Ying Yang Twins
On Top - The Killers

This year I'll be adding Evans Blue, +44, and definitely Rick Ross - Hustlin' Remix.

Where are the jazz cats at? Alright, one's on board! Jazz is my favorite music to play pool by (and to do just about anything else, for that matter). Although I'm a John Coltrane fan, I prefer anything by Horace Silver, pre-electric Herbie Hancock, Joe Henderson or Lee Morgan to get me in stroke. The music of these four masters (all excellent composers) always swings strongly and is infectiously uplifting. It's hard not to be relaxed and positive with these guys in your head!

On the way to the pool hall or anything competetive:

Chemical Brothers - any of their beats

Best music to play pool to for hours on end

Hank Williams Jr. - any of his songs

"One Time, One Night" - Los Lobos
"No Woman, No Cry" - Bob Marley
"Streets of Bakersfield" - Dwight Yoakum
"Woke Up This Morning" - Alabama 3
"Back in Black" - AC/DC
"Cowboy" - Kid Rock
"Ripple" - The Grateful Dead
"Keep a Lid On It" - The Squirrel Nut Zippers
"Together Again" - Buck Owens
"Excitable Boy" - Warren Zevon

...and anything by Bob Seger

classic rock here.....a local plays the entire Dark Side of the Moon album twice during tournaments, usualy at the begining and near the end. anything Pink Floyd is nice, a lot of mellow Led Zeppelin, White Horses, CCR is always nice...........

Jay

Anything by George Thorogood or Hank Jr.
Especially "Bad to the Bone" and " Whiskey Bent & Hell Bound"

Never heard it in a PH (but would love to) but "Lights Out" by UFO would rock the place. And for that matter, just blast "Rock Bottom" and chase all the posers outta the damn place as Schenker's Flying V burns the roof down...

Thanks for all of the great input, guys! I have compiled a list of music that I am not familiar with and will try the songs out and will buy the ones that I like...

Lil Troy...Wanna Be a Baller
Ace of Spades - Motorhead
1% - Lars Fredrickson and the Bastards
F#*king Hostile – Pantera
Lit Up > Buckcherry
Thunderkiss 65 > White Zombie
"Lights Out" by UFO
"Rock Bottom"
Bottom - Tool
1969 - Rob Zombie
digital bath - deftones
closure - chevelle
helena - My chemical romance
yesterday - 30 seconds to mars
Yoshimi by The Flaming Lips
Bone Thugs-n-Harmony
Wolfmother - Joker and the thief

Jimmy eat world
Kanye West - Touch the sky
Linkin Park - Faint and all the others
