Greater Northeast Cue Show & Tourney

Simon,

I couldn't have said it better. I met so many nice people and got to see old friends. There's none nicer than you, Gian and Little Kenny. What a great group and great show.

KP

Right...where to begin? My jet lag has gone and I am ready to post.

The show was possibly about as much fun as you can have in a pool hall without having naked chicks racking the balls for you in the tournament (Kenny.....we can do this next year).

Great turn out from the billiard community, could have possibly been better if we had a little more foot fall but it didn't dampen spirits....we had a complete blast. Meeting all my old partners in crime along with meeting new ones was just fantastic.

Highlights for me:

* Seeing Kenny Koo, Carolin, Paul Stamatos, Dennis Searing, John Showman, Barry Szamboti, Guy, Myron, Troy, Duc, Bill Grassley, Don Sherman, Ken Kerner and Jimbo once again.

* Meeting AZers Shadowmoss, CMD, Greg, Ken Peters, Shane, Chris Byrne, BHQ, John Spitz, Mr Mezz Cue and others for the first time.

* Meeting John Bender for the first time....what a gentleman. You have to see this guys cues....his point work is borderline ridiculous. Simply amazing work.

* Meeting Steve Dunkel for the first time. Again, what a really nice guy. His cues are also phenomenal.

* Meeting the extremely talanted Marc Turcasso. In case making terms this man is one of the top three in the world. A supreme gentleman to boot.

* Jimbo beating Dennis Searing at Golf.....on the pool table.

*Gambling with Jimbo, Dunkel, Byrne, CMD and others at Golf....much fun ensued.

*Kenny Carfagno demonstrating how to open a bottle of wine with a 3/8-10 jointed cue (Just next time use a McDermott and not a $2K Andy Gilbert pal).

Some people to thank.........

Vincent and Mellisa (owners of Warrington Billiards): Thank you for your hospitality and making me feel welcome. Great pool room and great tables.

Kenny Koo and Carolin: Great to see you both again and thank you for my extra shafts on my cue. The cue you made me is one of the best playing cues aI have ever used. I love you guys.

Barry, Jimmy and Cathy for being such gracious hosts.

Gian Calise: Thank you for looking after me, buddy. You ran me all over the place and I appreciate the time we spent together. Your knowledge is immense and enjoyed all the stories.

And of course Kenny Carfagno: My friend. thank you for inviting me to your home, thank you for putting me up, thank you for taking me everywhere, thank you for feeding me, thank you for the amazing trip on the last day...it was just amazing. There are many more things to thank you for but I wont list them all here. How many people could pull off what you have done at this show of yours? Not many thats for sure. You asked them to come and they did. That's what we call respect. I did 3500 miles to support you mate and others made extremely long trips too. The reason is because you are one of the best in the business. I sincerely hope you do this again. For me, this was better than Valley Forge.

Pics to follow.

Yeah, great time mate. It's always nice to put faces to names. Even better when they turn out to be top blokes like yourself.

That meal was something else! I haven't eaten since that night and it's Thursday

You sure about the owner of that cue? I recognize the two in the middle, they are mine, Those cues are owned by Ron Atzert. I'll try and find out more info.

I'd appreciate it. I really like the look of the fanned out cards in the butt.
Hey Marcus,
That is the new Gambler Manzino that Ron just got from Bob..

I enjoyed the show also.. It was nice seeing all the AZer's and old friends.
Good Job Kenny..
Best,
Ken

Just getting to a computer for some personal time since last week.
Kenny really put together a great event at a nice location.

It was truly a great time and looking forward to seeing everyone again.
It was a great chance to see all these great looking cues and all the wonderful friends who made time in their schedule to get together.
It was great to see so many cue makers in attendance and at this show they actually had more time to relax and share some personal time with those who came by.
The cue collections were impressive and the deals where there to be had since the foot traffic was not as intense as a VF event.
The best part was seeing Simon not in a cue chasing frenzy as he did in 2008 at VF.
I think Peter inherited that role for this show!
I saw some ridiculous play of 9-ball between Dennis Searing against Simon with Dennis shooting exceptionally well.
Must have been the cue - a Kenny Koo masterpiece!
That cue was in high demand that I never even had a chance to test it out.
Maybe the next batch.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again soon.
Myron & Daphne

It was great to see you again, Myron. I thought I displayed very good restraint given what I did in 2008 and I agree, Peter took that role at this event!

.....I did take a set off that pizza delivery guy, btw. My weekend was complete when I did that, lol.

Left before the match ended.
Wish we could have seen the end as the match was an interesting combination of strong players.
The wand maybe needed another magician.
Next time, I will drive that Kenny Koo wand and take a set.
:)
Great seeing you back this way.
Hopefully we can see you again really soon.

Hope so my friend.

Dennis used Kenny Koo's personal cue the whole tournament and he had very nice comments about the hit, fit and finish of the cue.

This is a picture of the cue I used the whole weekend, also made by Kenny. It is one of the best players I have ever owned. Kenny really does make a stunning playing cue.

I'll attest to the hit of that cue! Kenny handed me my first loss with it! Had him 3-0 then Kenny got determined and never missed again. 7-3 win to Kenny Koo.

Ironically, I faced Kenny's lovely wife in my elimination round. She played even smoother and sent me packing  I call that a Koo de gras.

Kenny C- thanks for running a fantastic show. I sold 2 big cues and 4 cases. More importantly, I spent time with Barry, Daphne, Simon and many other wonderful people who made the event a warm and memorable occasion.

Vince- great room and fine hospitality!
Jose- thanks for running the tourney...I had a great time
Josh- congratulations on your win. You played well and showed a lot of class.

Hi Simon, It was a great pleasure meeting you. Thanks for let me trying out your cue and i also tried out the other Koo cue that Dennis was using. All i can say is GUYS, You need to order a cue from Kenny Koo. You will not disappointed. I was so glad to see every one again.... and some new Azers....I can not wait for the next one......
Regards
Peter

Right back at you, Peter. It was great meeting old and new friends. This was the best cue event ever. No one stood on ceremony, all friends...a great environment to be in.
