Greetings from Black Boar!

I'm not sure what you are referring to? I'm not hijacking Tony's business, I assure you. I actually work at Black Boar as a junior artist and Tony put me in charge of social media. The only purpose of my post here is to let those who are interested know that Black Boar has an official Facebook page and Twitter now. If you go to the page, you can see that I took photos of the work being done right at the shop. I'm not trying to sell anything.

Edit to add: I even posted Black Boar's phone number if anyone wants to speak directly to Tony. If I was a scammer that would make no sense lol

Don't worry about people like that on this forum.
Like someone said, some people never have anything good/nice to say.
Don't let them affect you and NEVER feel like you have to defend
your self when all you did was introduce your self and tell us what
you're doing at Tony's.

Good for you.

Glad you're on board.

Welcome!!!!!!!!

It's alright I was just baffled more than anything. Thanks very much and l will do my best to keep it interesting!

Welcome Mika! I think its great that Tony hired hid granddaughter into the business to inject some youth and energy. Sorry for the jerks on here that would pick on you for doing your job. I will be visiting Tony at the shop before the holiday's. Tell him to stock up on good cigars for when his friend Chris from Texas stops in. Tell him I would drink with him but we would both end up in jail! He will understand...Good luck with your new job. If you have even a little of your grandfathers mind you will kill it!

A late model from Tony....

Really doesn't matter much the market that can afford a BB is very small and its never been hard to reach Tony
Now if they started making affordable cues that would be big news might need to FB accounts for tha :grin-square:

The Black Boar market is the perfect size. He sells every cue he makes. The quickest way to ruin Black Boar is to do as you suggest and start making lower cost cues. Black Boar customers and fans will appreciate the new Facebook page. I already have enjoyed visiting. So a young lady comes on here to introduce herself and provide an update from Black Boar and this is what you say to her? I know what king of man you are now. I have a 21 year old daughter. You would like to take the wind out of her sails too? Pathetic!

Saying just what you are offering. I have to advise anyone needing to talk to Tony to do just that..
No offense. But it is Tony or Donnie that should be advised as to your custom build at the BB shop. It is kind of you to offer help. The last time some kind soul offered this help it wasn't pretty.
Either way, hope I am not right,
Nick :)

Did you even read her post? I hope not because if you really did, yours is disgraceful and I don't care how many posts you have here.

The vast silent majority on this board are level headed fairly normal folk. Others not so much, par for the course with the Internet.

Appreciate your outreach efforts, too many in this industry don't make the effort.

Welcome and best of luck!

Tony's workmanship is legendary. We used to run into him sometimes at local events.

Here's a cute shot of Tony with his trademark cigar, Keith with his trademark brown bottle, and Nick Mannina the Christian Pool Player.

Tony told me that Keith had a double fulcrum in his stroke, just like Efren.

Not every pool player has the double fulcrum, but he picked it out on Keith's stroke.

Tony said he builds cues tailored to the player's stroke when they come by his shop.

Welcome to the forum!

ETA: I had to shorten my sentences in this post because of the HUGE photos somebody posted in this thread,
requiring one to scroll from east to west because the HUGE photos take up too much room in a thread. I wish
people would not do that. :(

Welcome

Hello Mika welcome aboard. Please know that there are always going to be people who put a negative spin on everything please do your best to ignore them.

I am not only a fan of Tony and Donnie's but a friend of Tony's going back to my first purchase of a BB on March 17th 1995. I last spoke with Tony about two months ago and hopefully will be calling him soon to follow up on our last conversation.

I currently have 4 six pointers and 1 eight pointer .

Sorry about that I shouldn't post pics because I have no clue how to control the size (or a lot of times the speed of the cue ball)

wow is this the new cue chris? Very nice yell tony i said hi?

Yes Sir. I got it earlier this year. The pics don't really show the colors.

Here's a little smut from 2004. Keith and Allen Hopkins rose to the top of the all-star player field, which included, if memory serves me right,
Jose Parica, Karen Corr, Dennis Hatch, and a slew of others I am forgetting. It was at a Joss Tour event at Bob Maidhoff's Drexeline Billiards
in Drexel Hills, PA.

Here's a litlte smut I wrote about Allen Hopkins' Black Boar cue that I wrote in 2004:
Allen Hopkins stated he really, really liked the way his custom-made Black Boar cue hit,
which is shown on the right. It has a Tiger wrap which looks like it would be easy to grip,
a little different looking than the traditional Irish linen wrap.

He uses a Helmstetter break cue (depicted on the left) that he's had for years,
he said, and when I examined the break cue, you could see the battle scars from a couple of decades of competition.

ETA: Damn big photos up above in this thread ruin posting in this thread. One has to scroll from left to right. Very inconsiderate to post
such LARGE photos in a thread.

Thank you Chris, and I will show Tony your comments when I get into work this morning-I'm sure he'll get a kick out of it! We look forward to your visit and Tony will be prepared with his good cigars. You posted pictures of one of my most favorite BB cues, by the way! I can't wait to have the chance to work on a cue with such elaborate inlays.

First of Einstein did you happen to notice the block smile and the post was a reply to another post
Second a lower end cue would have absolutely zero effect on his upper level cues thats a entirely different market ,, there is 2 here been on the table for months , so it's not like their flying off the shelf and there not high end either

My 3 daughters sail along just fine

I'm on mobile right now and I only have time to say something quick, but I was so happy to check the thread when I got up this morning! Thank you for sharing your pictures and stories, and all of the kind words. I can't wait to show Tony when I get in the shop today. :)

If the "lower end" you are referring to is $6 to $10 k, like the Blackwood cues, I agree with you. I thought you were talking about pumping out cues at $2 grand in which case I would disagree.
