Hi AZBilliards! My name is Mika. I'm Tony Sciannella's granddaughter and the newest addition at Black Boar as an artist/where ever else I can find myself useful.

Just wanted to let you all know, we now have an official Facebook page and Twitter, which I will be tasked with running right from BB headquarters. I will be giving you frequent updates from Tony himself, lots of photos of our past cues, and plenty of photos and info of our works in progress.

If you have any questions for Tony or our lead artist Donnie, post here, PM me, message us through Facebook, or whatever you prefer. You can always email us at blackboarcues@gmail.com, or call Tony directly at the shop anytime at 301-277-3236. Thanks so much!

Welcome to the forum
That's the way to introduce yourself, and it's good to see some young blood getting into the world of custom cuemaking.

I wish you good luck, and looking forward to some cool gallery picks.

Peace
Ted

Thanks very much for the warm welcome, Ted!

I'd like to see pics of the facility

I'll be posting photos of the facility on Facebook pretty soon! If you're not on mobile right now, you can go to blackboarcustomcues.com and look at the "cue making" gallery, which shows some images of the shop. It's a flash gallery so it's not mobile-friendly. I'm going to be working on the website soon- it hasn't been updated in a few years.

If you're ever in the College Park/DC area, you're welcome to stop by for a visit any time. Tony loves having visitors because that means he gets to show off all of his antiques and odds and ends. It's a very neat place to visit, kind of like a museum.

This should work out well for BB. .A couple years ago I wrote a thread on AZ criticizing cue-makers for dinosaur websites
and for not recognizing the value of social media or establishing a brand image. My daughter actually founded her own
firm several years ago in San Francisco, CA, that helps companies create business strategies that reach consumers.

It is great to see Mika join Black Boar and add a new dimension to how it moves forward in the new dynamics of today's
marketplace which is very swift and competitive. Cue-makers and Leather craftsmen need to recognize that their website
is really their 24 hr. showroom on the Internet that's basically unattended. People will visit, browse, become acquainted but
depart. What impression did they develop? Because don't you really want them to come back when someone is at the store?
There's more to creating a strategy than posting photos & messages on Facebook as Mika already understands.

As Erin succinctly puts it......

"Social media is not a marketing strategy – it is a marketing TOOL. And while it can be effective, it doesn’t work for
everyone. Does your client even use Facebook? Are you adding value or just adding noise? Does this really add value or
are you just asking them to buy something and because it’s on Facebook you think it will work?

Just like anything, good things take time. So if you do want to use Facebook, be prepared to invest the time it takes to create
really good content people actually care about. Just like many other marketing tools, social media is what you make of it."

Anyway, if anyone wants to learn more about contemporaneous business strategies, for today's marketplace, just click on the below.

Didn't someone on this board hijack Tony's business

Saying just what you are offering. I have to advise anyone needing to talk to Tony to do just that..
No offense. But it is Tony or Donnie that should be advised as to your custom build at the BB shop. It is kind of you to offer help. The last time some kind soul offered this help it wasn't pretty.
Either way, hope I am not right,
Nick :)

Really doesn't matter much the market that can afford a BB is very small and its never been hard to reach Tony
Now if they started making affordable cues that would be big news might need to FB accounts for tha :grin-square:

I'm not sure what you are referring to? I'm not hijacking Tony's business, I assure you. I actually work at Black Boar as a junior artist and Tony put me in charge of social media. The only purpose of my post here is to let those who are interested know that Black Boar has an official Facebook page and Twitter now. If you go to the page, you can see that I took photos of the work being done right at the shop. I'm not trying to sell anything.

Edit to add: I even posted Black Boar's phone number if anyone wants to speak directly to Tony. If I was a scammer that would make no sense lol

Welcome! And don't sweat some of the negativity on here. Some folks can't ever have anything nice to say. Can't wait to see photos and more fantastic cues. Good luck!

Greetings back!

I hope this leads to more BB cues getting posted.

Ken

Thanks Ken! I definitely want to be more active on AZ too. I saw that this account (most likely Donnie) only had a handful of comments on here before I made this post. I also searched "Black Boar" and it was really cool seeing all the old BB cues from various generations some folks had on here for sale.
