Wasn't it last year that we had live updates of the action?? Seems like we are going backwards.

For DP to promote the tourney so heavily, yet no have someone to sit there and punch in the scores....
Most of last years live updates were provided by Randy G. (NYC CUEDUDE?)
He hasn't been as involved this year.

I drove up from Baltimore this morning so I could see my all time favorite player in action and when I get there I find out his match has been moved to 7:00 tonight (have three kids and could not stay). How did I find out? I sat next to him during some of the morning session and we started chatting about how this guy was doing this and that guy something else. It was very cool listening to his insights watching the matches. I know a ton of people do not like Mike Sigel, but he has always been nice to me. I was very bummed to find out he wasn't playing until tonight.

He now has 4 matches tomorrow which he says is great for him. He will be able to get some kind of rythym which you need in a 100 point match. He said he has been playing straight pool and 8 ball really well. I hope he plays well.

Too bad you didn't get a chance to see Mike Sigel play. I am not a big fan of him (the way he act), but I like to see good pool, and Mike has a lot of it in him still.

If anyone else get's a chance to watch Mike play, please let us know if he's still hitting them great! I consider him as an outsider for the title this year!

these guys got any rulings about cameras and camcorders in the tournament area? I am deff going tomorrow and will gladly take some shi**y pictures with my digital cam and shoot some video for youtube as well.

When it comes to Straight pool, like him or not, Mike Sigel is always a contender for the title, as he has a vast amount of knowledge of straight pool and a player of his calibre would know only too well how to make the most of the experience and knowledge he has, and put it to very good use :)

I have about 12 top centenders for the title in mind, 8 of them are from Europe and the other 4 being from the US :)

I got a video request for some footage of Earl Herring and Bernie Pettipiece, please, rep bomb sent in advance!

Anyone have the reults from the night time matches? I went to Dragon's site and they don't and Inside Pool does not list all matches. Thanks.

What I recall

I stayed until the end of Steve Lipsky's 3rd match of the day, which ended after 2 AM. There were still a couple of matches wrapping up, but I saw almost all of the day and night's action.

Steve won all 3 of his matches. The first rack of his last match was something to behold. His opponent made an absolutely flawless opening break, but Steve found a dead ball that could only be played from below the rack. He pounded the cueball off of the foot rail, exploding the rack from below and sinking the ball in the corner. His patterns were always great.

Another late match was Bernie Pettipiece(BernieP) against Bill Maropolous(Marop.) Bernie won that about 100-50. But Bill seems to be having a great time no matter what. All smiles. He's 1 and 2 at this point.

Slightly earlier matches were:
Barouty over Harriman. Barouty's won all 3 of his matches.
Hohmann over Fulcher
Deuel over Engert
Immonen over Stepanov
Archer over Babica

Hey metallicane and Roy, we must have passed in the aisles.

Except for a few exceptions, not a day of stellar play, but it looked tough to get the balls to separate. And the diamond tables apparently are playing pretty tough.

Who looks in title-winning form to me at this stage:
Hopkins, Feijen, Ortmann, Deuel, Van Den Berg, Hohmann

These guys also impressed me yesterday:
Barouty, Lipsky, Souquet, Immonen, Maidhof, Archer

John Schmidt is ill but still has a 1-1 record. Not yet at the top of his game, but of course that could change.

Mike Sigel wasn't in top form but got through his match. Of course you can't count him out.

I'll be going back Wednesday.

Well I got here about an hour ago......

Schmidt won his match against Wilkie....Shawn left himself a tough shot and opted to play safe....JS played safe again......SW plays safe again then I hear him comment I shouldve hit the 6 (he hit the 4 instead).

Hohmann vs Siegal right now 29 to 67 Sigel

Ortmann vs Maropolos 13 to 1 Maropolos (just under way)

Busty vs Souqet 34 to 57 Busty

I can't see all of them and dont wish to run all around and interrupt game play. More later.

its kinda funny....the sigel match is STILL going on.......ive never got a chance to see him shoot before....but i will tell you one thing....i now know why they call him "The Mouth". :)

Blue -

I thought that was you with the striped shirt. I was going to say hi as you were right behind me at one point. I had a maroon shirt on and was talking with Sigel in the bleachers in the beginning and then went toward the middle of the stands. I ended up in the corner watching Niels and Danny. I may make it back Saturday. Great stuff though.

Sigel won.

Bustamante beat Souquet.

I think Rolon beat Ouschan because she stormed out of there pissed. She had 97.

Hunter outlasted Davis 100-91.

I took a break for a sandwhich and am going back now.

Thanks for the updates, Dennis.

BTW - I received the package that you sent to me - it arrived yesterday morning - thanks!

I see that they have 1,5 hours for each match, still they have been late both nights, and both previous years with this schedule.

Why not change the time for 2009 so the same mistake won't happen for the fourth year in a row?
