Grudge Match - Columbus, Ohio August 20,21

Well I'll take that as a win. I thought maybe you had a plan that Gene could have 3 fouled you. I was racking my brains trying to figure it out.

By the way, since you handed the ball back to Gene after he left that shot, weren't you already on 1 foul? So you would've been on 2 if he rolled the 3 up to the 1 ball.

Yes then he has a chance to 3 foul me
Or I have to just break them out and give him ball in hand

While we await for Chris' response, here is my plan. Pick at it how you like.

Gene's move. Roll the 6 up to lock the 1 further. Leave the 3 where it is because if it remains there, that's the way to get to the 3rd foul.

Chris' move on 2 fouls. At that point, he not only needs to break out the 1, but also needs to make sure he scrambles the 3 away from the 5 so Gene doesn't have an easy opportunity to get the 3rd.

That's the best I can do for now. But I'll keep looking until Chris gives us his plan.

Exactly, roll the 6 ball where the cue ball is making a legal hit on the 1 ball impossible. Booom......... two fouls Sir!!!!!

Might happen and for some cash............

So is Beloit for a bar box game going to happen?

This match with Chris did allot for the mental part of my game and better prepared me for the Beloit tourny. This is the biggest reason I took the match.

I drifted in and out of being really focused to kind of focused but when it was all said and done I was pleased with the way I shot on that treacherous table.

I don't know how many players would like playing Bart on his table with those tight pockets.

I practiced with lee during the week a couple of times and he is a fairly good player. It was hard for him to even run a rack. and he is well above the average pool player. other it would just put them down on their knees.

I always tell players when they put a table in their home not to make the pockets this tight because it takes away from allot of things we do when we play pool.

Granted you can get pretty good at playing on pockets this tight, most players game will take a drastic drop down especially if they are trying to compete with some pressure.

After the Beloit tourny I should be pretty primed to play. The story will be so much different on the bar box.

Bart is a great player but I have to admit the table was more of an advantage than anyone can imagine. There are players out there that will understand this and there are others that are kind of uneducated with this situation.

Regardless. One thing it does prove though is Part plays pretty sporty on that table for sure. he plays good overall also. But I like my chances on a bar table or I'd like to try him on a table that I can make the ball and try to play shape without cringing on every shot because the pockets are so tight.

Whole differnet ball game.

There will be allot of great players at beloit. it probably won't be the best player there that wins this thing for sure.

It will be the best player that day on the bar table. and there won't be those long tight pockets to bail some one out from maybe a lesser player running out.

The bar table can be the great equalizer for sure.

Bart played like a champion.

He's a great player and did some amazing things.

We will meet again...........

Gene,

You told me once that you had backers in the Twin Cities that would put you in the box against Chris for $5k without question. You seem to think you're a favorite on the bar table and Beloit is only a few hours from the Twin Cities. Why not have those backers of yours make the drive down so y'all can play?

Sounds like a bunch of excuses. Pretty sure the table was the same for both players, yes? Instead of excuses and deflection to how a bar table would be different, why not man up and admit that you got whipped by a much better player?

gene

The bartable is an equalizer for sure if you have two players that are fairly close. The scores will be closer, but the out come will be the same. If you played races to 7-9 you could win some sets, but not many. It is ok to say he just plays better than you. He plays better than most.

I didn't take that as excuses. Home field advantage is an inarguable advantage in any competition.

Gene gave Bart a lot of praise in his post. And although I wished the match had been closer, Gene earned some respect from me on this. Best of rolls in Beloit Gene.

I think he did admit that he go whooped. I guess i read it different.

Gene got pounded sure, but any one with a brain knows it will be closer on a BB. I still like Bart on the BB though. He's just too damn good. If he starts practicing 8-10 hours a day he would be down right SCARY...:eek::eek:

Then again, maybe Gene dumped so he wouldn't ruin his action.... <<<I'm still surprised I haven't heard one of our fine AZB pool detectives say this yet! LOL!!!

I was never one to go pick on the weak. That's one reason I got playing as good as I did in the 80's and 90's.

Diabetes robbed me of many things in my life and one of them was pool for about 10 years not knowing what was wrong.

If the doctors are right and I will not be diabetic 15 lbs from now i will be playing an awful lot of pool.

Maybe I'm getting too old but I know if I can get this under control I will be able to play more consistent.

There is no future in players of your caliber or mine playing each other on a regular basis. This is why the Challenge matches could be the way of the future in pool. Top players can match up and play for some cash without destroying the other ones life.

I will be back in Columbus. You have a great pool town here and some pretty nice people and players. The poolhalls are doing a gereat job too.

And what about that Dee Adkins. everytime I turn around he's giving another person lessons. This is huge for building the sport. This guy is responsible for allot of the pool wealth here as well as yourself creating an auroa.

See ya in Beloit.

I usually don't get much action there but maybe you will.

Good luck. Thanks for the great match. ...
