Gus Szamboti cue on ebay

You guys are fools. That was the deal of the century, and he was likely considering a cash offer from me before everyone blew this sh*t up. I'll be sure to return the favor when I can.

Honestly I don't know how people asking him about it would make him double the price......

Look at the good side. If it isn't legit they just saved you a bunch of money.

This is not yet a "rule" around here but I'm a firm believer in ..

Please do not repost funny/strange/not-related-to-you ads from eBay, Craigslist or elsewhere on AZ Billiards.

I believe in this very much. I have been watching cues on eBay that as soon as they were posted here they blew up. It is impossible to get a deal when someone who has no intention of buying an item let everyone else in on it.

Once again the nits have ruined a good deal.

The only thing worse is the guy that asks what his cue is worth, some nit on here tells him that his 400 cue is worth a 1000. Just tells him that, doesnt offer a nickel but wants to sound like he has a clue and tells some huge number.

I try to buy it for 400 it is actually worth and he thinks I am trying to rip him off.

Nits.

Ken

The condition of this cue is not even close to the Gus in this auction. Just look at the condition of the shafts and linen wrap. It's literally fresh from the shop....looking forward to the validation from Barry. I would still bid if the price is fair when this cue is validated.
If you're selling this Gus for less than $3750.00 his original price...than I may be interested :).

Regards,
Duc.

I have one that looks newer that that but it still has the original tips installed by Gus when he built the cue shortly before his death. This cue can be bought for slightly less than the starting bid on the one on ebay.

Amen!

I agree..and it's usually someone who has no intention of buying it! IMO..People should do their own homework.. If you don't want to buy it, then move on to the next one..I can appreciate that some guys are just trying to help, but it should be clear from this thread that they are not helping anyone! Including themselves!!

Manwon was right to post!!

A least he gave others who didn't see it a chance to own it. Make there own judgments!!! It is too bad it is always about the cash! Sometimes an Honest guy can't win !! I saw and read the post thanks- I finally got a Gus Shaft only- but what a fever it gives you!!!! Market is tight !! still a buyer's advantage. Manwon should have got a Tip!! Mark!! plenty of people had a chance pre-flop!!!! Mark

I think it's funny that you are all pissed because you didn't get to take advantage of someone. You expect retail for your cues but never want to pay it.

Well I think you don't know what the hell you're talking about, ass.

Firstly, I wasn't looking to take advantage of anyone.

Secondly, I've never sold any cue on here for retail.

Thirdly, there is no retail purchase price on a mint 80's Szamboti. There's market value, and bloated dealer prices. That was a chance to get one at below bloated dealer prices.

Lastly, you don't know what my offer was, which further proves you don't know what the hell you're talking about.

Nice try,
but good looking out anyway... :0

Well I am the idiot who started this train wreck!!:o

I apologise to all concerned, I learned a good lesson here and my true intentions for the listing do not matter all.

All I can say is it will not happen again, at least not from me.

Resepectfully :o

Craig,
don't sweat it. From all that I've seen of you, you're an asset to this forum. My comment was more directed at the ensuing mob of tire kickers, window shoppers, yappers, rubbernecks and your basic non-buyers. Kinda figuratively, like I was pumping my fist in the air at Murphy's Law or such.

The vast majority of posters in such threads were/are not buyers, as I'd wager the vast majority of people that emailed or called the seller as well as Barry. BTW, I'm sure he loves getting his phone and email blown up. Lol, he probably hates ebay for that reason alone.

It's all those folks standing around yapping about LOA's and this and that, that draw EXTRA attention to the item for sale and flub it all up for the very few that are serious buyers and already on the lookout for such items. Kinda like drivers slowing and stopping to look at a traffic accident and end up causing more accidents.

Again, don't sweat it. It's already forgotten. And in hindsight, I can see a bit of humor in my post too. Sheeit, I love a good laugh.

And Ken-4fun nailed it when he said, "The only thing worse is the guy that asks what his cue is worth, some nit on here tells him that his 400 cue is worth a 1000. Just tells him that, doesnt offer a nickel but wants to sound like he has a clue and tells some huge number. I try to buy it for 400 it is actually worth and he thinks I am trying to rip him off."

You're the fool! He had a "Buy it Now"...you should have bought it THEN! His intial buy it now was a steal...but I guess you wanted to steal just a little bit more! lol

"Bloated dealer prices".....lol. I'm sure most dealers would like to buy back virtually every Szam they've ever sold in the past for the sale price they got. I certainly get the point, though. It definitely sucks when people take it upon themselves to stir up a hornets nest over an ebay cue they have no intention of buying.

Ha ha~ I kinda agree with you. It happens all the time. Sometimes you just want to get the best deal of the best deals.
