This is my Gus Szamboti that I acquired about
a year ago. I had it out yesterday for a dozen
racks or so. I need to play with it more often,
I usually get it out once every 2 or 3 months
and it plays too good to keep it in a case that
long. Mr.Gus Szamboti sure knew how to make
a great cue for both looks and playability. I need
to do better and play this great cue more often.
I was inspired by Rich and Phil to post this thread.
I posted a rare cue yesterday and their replies, in
a nutshell, we're to play with it. Thanks guys.

I took a few pics or not so good pics of it when I
had it out yesterday and here they are.

Thanks for looking.

It’s not a close call. PLAY WITH IT! You own one of the truly great playing cues. The reason for owning a Szamboti is to play pool with it.

As a word of caution, be careful where you take the cue. No matter how simple the design, even with people who know nothing about collectable cues, Szamboti cues draw more attention than you will want. Mine never ceased to catch the eye of other people in the pool room. Three times, people tried to take it from my hands. They were not intending to steal it, just look at it more closely. The old courtesy of not touching another player’s cue until given permission does not seem to exist any longer.

Beautiful cue. Thanks for posting the pictures.

Mine was 59.5". Perfect.

WOW, You have two incredible cues in the Galery. This is by far my favorite of the two. What a classic look and gotta love the ring work and windows. My next cue might look like this!

Great cue and you're right, Gus built billiard tanks.

My uncle broke with his cue for 15 years before getting a break / jump. He had a monster break and never once even chipped a ferrule...

Thanks for sharing this beauty! Exactly why I search these forums...to see the new and old treasures like this. Congrats!

Your cue is my favorite Gus pattern. As Sealegs50 says, they tend to draw a crowd. Keep it close but use it. Unfortunately mine is 58.5", I could not adjust. Enjoy yours as they deserve to be played! Congratulations!

This is a sweetheart. Made for running racks. I'll be interested to see how it hits compared to a Barry. Hopefully soon.

Talk soon,

I used to own Jersey Red's personal szam

just like this one only 59inches long

what a nice cue

Thanks for the nice comments guys.
I know I'm blessed to own this cue, no
doubt about that.

This cue weighs 19.4 oz. and is dead
straight together and apart, I wish I
could say that for all my cues. This isn't
a sales pitch, just another compliment
to the master craftsman and legend.

Thanks again gentlemen.
