I have been on AZ for three years. yesterday I got an email from a (hot chick) dating site addressed to my AZ password. I spammed it without opening it. the thing is, this is the third time in three years that someone has hacked my password here on AZ. evidently AZ's on-line security is not worth a crap. I have bought and sold here. and chatted with some great people. unless the moderators can assure me that this problem can be corrected, I will have to find some other way to keep up to date with the pool world.

they have your screen name and password ?
after the 1st time you changed your password and they still got it ?

i hope no one sends an email to my password, because that would just confuse the hell out of me!

I might be confused.....but is your AZ name also your Email address?
If so....nobody has to hack it
 
I am reasonably sure the OP isn't really that well versed in online security or what constitutes a hack.

I'll say this: IF we were hacked, I'd be drowning in emails because they wouldn't just pick one poor guy to send a "hot chick" add to.....it would have been all 37, 000 of them.

Since this isn't the case, I suspect he needs to take a closer look at his own computer and use whatever AV he feels is worthy of his approval and look for worms and trojans.

Just a word to the wise..

If you get a phone call saying you may have a computer virus... and then ask you to turn on your computer.... DON'T DO IT!

Someone will say they're aware of a Windows virus that has been effecting computers in your.. (and will mention your town)

They want you to follow verbal steps on your keyboard. HANG UP on them. If you try to call their number.. it's out of service.

As a Network engineer I would say Mr.Roach has Eyes lurking from inside his system and am somewhat surprised he didn't blame his problem on Bush too.

There was a major hack a few years ago where a group if hackers went after forums and targeted users who used the same password as their username.

We changed everyone's password who was using their username as a password. Vbulletin added code to allow us to search for users like this.

The forums do not allow a user to use their username as a password any more.

Like Wilson said, I think if we had been hacked, I would have heard something by now.

Unrelated, but I did get a random PM from someone selling a cue but they asked to only be contacted via email. When I tried to reply they had PMs turned off. I just deleted it and moved on, probably should have reported it.

He was saying someone logged into his account and posted a derogatory message about Jayson.
