The B.P.I. has the safety inning included, which isnt the propper way of doing B.P.I.
had to do it this way for the season since inning calculations were innacurate from the start. Next season i will make it so innings are calculated correctly.

The top 5 players plus a Wild Card will go into the playoffs, which is a single elimination tournament. Should be a real good tournament in the end !!!

The traditional way of figuring BPI does include the safety innings, though in a heavily safed game, it will understandably skew the numbers.

So how are you using BPI? Tiebreaker after record is considered?

How is the 6th "wild card" player figured?

Good luck to you and Charlie, the only guys I know in the league.

It looks like you are in. Charlie maybe has a chance for the wild card. It does not look like the make-ups will change much in terms of who gets in, unless it somehow affects the wild card.

Is the tournament then seeded? What are the high runs of some of the players, so we can figure relative strengths of possible playoff matchups? What are the handicaps.

I know. Lot of questions from a kibbitzer. ;)

Yes the BPI is used to solve the tie-breakers.

the way the playoffs are determined is the top 5 make it in and then a Wild Card. the Wild Card is determined by, for every win the players that didnt make it will have thier name put in once for every win. so every win counts.

Using an 8 man tournament bracket the Top 2 places get a Bye the first week of playoffs, moving them over to the next tier.

3rd plays 6th
4th plays 5th

the high run for the league has been a 60 ball run, others have had some nice numbers in the 30s which was high for them.

hope this makes sense !!

Hi Steve,

A question about the play offs. So anyone in the playoffs has a chance for first place? If that is true, how is that fair. The guys who played well during the season and have had their handicaps adjusted accordingly and now have to compete ( with an elevated handicap) with players who's handicap was not raised as much. What stops a player from laying down a bit so he has a lower handicap for the playoffs. This was my dilemma for the playoffs. So I allowed only first place (after season play) to play second place , third to play the fourth, and fifth to play sixth. After the playoffs the final standings were determined by the number of wins during the season and playoffs. A player then can only jump two spots, depending on # of wins. Ties were won by the player with the most bonus points. 1 bonus point for every 15 ball win during the season. a 30 ball win =2 bonus points.

Would love to hear your take,
Robert

Hey Rob,

This is the problem with all Leagues - Tournaments.

if a player is willing to lose a few games and possibly risk not making it in, plus with using the B.P.I. relying on your opponent to get out of the game in as few inning as possible so that doesnt bring down your Overall B.P.I.

B.P.I. is calculated for both players win or lose. so that would effect thier over-all performance througout the league.

standings are determined by Total Wins, and Overall B.P.I.

I am not sure about the system you had used, i will have to think about that one.

I opted for the play-offs because that is what was voted on. I had scenarios for 2 different formats at the beginning of the session.

hope this makes sense.

I thought it was only going to be 11 weeks since you have 12 players. Is it double round robin? 22 total games?

No I left it at 13 weeks, with 2 byes in the mix. Didn't want to shave off more weeks and lower the prize fund as a result !!

Well, If each player plays 11 games and 2 byes, why are some of the records 9 and 3 with more to come. Do they count they bye as a win?

John C and Charlie have a make up, and Joey Altoids started 1 week late. He said he didn't mind not playing that 1 match since he started late.

When players have a bye they get a win with no score or inning count. Plus they pay thier weekly dues and go up the 7% as a result.

Not every player gets the byes, only the players that didn't get to play the 2 players that dropped out get the bye opportunity.

Just waiting now on 1 match so we can pick the wild card and finalize the standings.

The Top 5 are already in place.

Here's the final chart after 13 weeks. Now onto the playoffs
