has any one else had pete tonkin

Bill is an outstanding member of our community with a flawless rep. Bill
is not some dope trying to run with the big boys! He's the real deal. He is
a dealer, a collector, and a man of God! You sir, are a
jack@ss! A real jack@ss.

He knows more about cues than you do and more than most others here too. He
knows what cues are worth because that's his business. He's not some knows-
nothing idiot. If he says resale is low he's probably basing that on experience. Nothing
about you knows high end cues and their resale value. This man knows all about
cues and his collection is incredible. Drool-worthy cues.

He didn't deserve to be treated this way and frankly, what happened to him sucks.

;)

Oh I see what you did there. Touche my friend, touche.

Bill,

Just so you know why I never responded to your last email. I worked four days straight in the shop working on a cue for a customer and drank way to many energy drinks and came very close to ending up in the hospital. While I was taking it easy waiting for my heart to get back to normal I built a new computer and had no internet and never recived your email tell today.

As for your piece of wood I thought it was sent back to you a long time ago. I found it in the shop tucked a way in a box and it's going in the mail to you tomarrow.

As for my cues and my dealings with you the picture below is of some cues I build for one customer over the past few years. I have also build alot of cues for other collectors and players.

This will be my one and only post to this thread and Bill I wish you a good life.

Wow...Those are some gorgeous cues. I am sorry that this deal never worked out for the OP.

These cues just went to the top 5 of my list to have. I hope the prices stay low on the secondary market so I can maybe someday get one. Really beautiful work.

Wow too many energy drinks again for the last 10 days ??? arrived from tx and no wood shipped ! and someone thought my post was not warranted ,in the past 5 years i have gotten and delivered cues from the worlds best !ginacue-Black- t.wayne-Bob manzino- rick chudy -mcworter- arthur cue all had wood rosewood burl and received at the same time ! all came thru with out a hitch--- and the one cue maker that approached me! and asked to build me a cue is the only one that FLAKED! and how many people think Iam off base here?? besides buddah, he just doesn't like any thing about me , and he never delt with me!

Both comments so far are amazing to me. believe Tonkin has won "cue of the show award at the big cue show so would have thought the secondary market would be good. On the other note I am sorry that you are having issues and again that surprises me. Pete has always been a good guy and always done what he said in business with me. I have in the past had a problem getting a hold of him for one reason or another. I hope you guys get it worked out.

So did Chuck Bobbit until one sunny day in May, remember the rubber checks?

said it best
I have had a few dealings with him

once something caused excessive delay
one day he gave me 2 free cues for my inconvenience

and then made the cue

we had a few words, but we reconciled and I have great
respect for the man,and the cue maker

I played with one for 6 months and liked the way the cue played too

I also consider Bill a good

friend and man of integrity

And ya know what, I would stake my life on it as well.

But, a couple of dealers and everyone else in the world can get Pete to make them a cue.

One cannot. Hmmmm, scratching my head.

Seriously, Pete said that his post in this thread was his first and only. Possible that there is another side to the story and Pete just doesn't feel like airing laundry or what.

Who knows eh.

Who cares what Pete's cues go for in the secondary market. You don't see many. If I had one, it wouldn't go up for sale. They look like Keepers to me.

I must be way far out of the pool on wood prices. Does a piece of rosewood burl that is 18" long go for $750?

Anyway, this is my advertising post. Buy a good case to protect that expensive wood. :-)

Like this one made to compliment an exquisite Tonkin.

I dunno about wood prices...

But the above pictured cue is absolutely stunning...what a work of art!

For high grade rosewood burl it can get EXCESSIVELY expensive on a retail level like this.

Doesn't matter the size as long as one can play beautiful music with it, or just pull a few tunes out of it on occasion, no pun intended of course.

A violin is nothing without a slender bow.

In other words, if you can play your lady like a Violin, you have nothing to worry you.
