I may not be correct in the spelling. But if you've heard of Lance please let me know your thoughts. Good player? Teacher? Thanks,

Yeah I have heard of him. All you have to do is go into any poolroom in the ptl area and mention his name. Then sit back and listen.

I would also love to hear some Lance Mcgill stories. I have heard his name floating around for years and met him once or twice maybe 10-15 years ago. But I have also heard, but not seen, some of the stories about his amazing pool skills.

I saw him playing some 10 ball against Jesse Pinkman over the weekend.
I heard it was with the 7 and the break for $2k a game. Jesse still lost. Said to have ended with a small ruckus.

It seems Lance was on LinkedIn. This is all you can see there unless you have an account. No idea how old the info is.

And this is from an item called "The Best of Portland [Oregon]" from June of 2002. That would make Lance about 74 now.

best way to beat a man at his own game
Take a tightknit posse of cue-wielding punk females, two parts life-skills training and one part gender warfare, and you've got the Women's Billiard Academy (1306 NW Hoyt St., B1, 450-0150). "This has been a man's sport for far too long," says Amanda Felt. A meat-eating vegan baker (she was featured in WW's "Vegan Like Me" story) and pool lover, Felt helped form the academy last summer, after she discovered her ultimate teacher, world-class pool champ Lance McGill, 52, who has toured the international cue-ball circuit since age 11. Now, with his help, Felt and her cohorts have the chops to run a rack on anybody--man, woman or champion--who happens to put down quarters. "It's not that I wanted to specifically help only women," confesses McGill. "It's just that the way I instruct, it doesn't mean anything whether you're a man, women, gay, lesbian, old or young--just shoot the ball." Felt explains that McGill's screening criteria for new students are simple but serious. "This is a school of exceptional women, and men," she says as she racks up another win. "They are the only people allowed here."

Amanda Felt? Really? Meat-eating vegan?

Where at? Surely no longer in Portland. I know he is older in years and didn't know if he was still with us.

Would still love to hear more stories as what I have heard borders on folklore, that he has the biggest stroke in pool, SVB status etc. The guys has always been a bit mysterious, but he has mentioned top players in the Portland area. He seemed to quit playing serious before my time
