Has anyone won or lost their own pool room gambling?

I heard that a Champions out here (called Cheers now) had to close because the owner gambled money away in Atlantic City. Couldnt afford to keep it open after that.
I guess thats not really what you are looking for, just figured I would throw that out there though.

I won a car once. Yeah okay, it was a beater Pinto, but it was a running car.
I had to spot a guy 5 games on the wire going to 11, play without my glasses on, and the bet was $300 against the car.
I won 11:0.
In Cornbread Red's book there was a story about him winning a bar. He gave it back because he didn't want to own it he just wanted to prove a point to the bar owner that the owner shouldn't bet against him. Three weeks after that the bar owner was shot dead in his bar. So Red figured it was lucky that he didn't keep it.

I never knew about Denny Searcy owning a pool room but he would have bet it up if the game was pool. His lifelong friend owns a place where I live called Pastimes. Leonard
One of the oldest pool rooms I know of in Georgia was won by a previous owner in a card game. The guy who has owned it for the last 20 plus years bought it from the guy when he got tired of running it. It is the old pool room in down town Ellijay. Got the best Chili dogs anywhere. The room was twice the size until they close off the other room and rented it out. They liked to play 10 red ball snooker and break them wide open when I started going there. The owner once ran the rack from the break all the way through all 10 reds and to the 6 ball. Just about a pro speed player and never left Ellijay to play.

there's a pool hall in winter haven, fl that was won in a card game.(family billiards) kinda makes sense that there's always action there no matter what your speed...from banger to champion, you'll get played and you might not like it!!!!!!
