Has SBE lost its luster since changing venues?

I have been going to the expo every year for the last 10+ years. I wouldn't miss it for anything except my own funeral.

The Hopkin's do a great job with this show each and every year. I just hope that the vendors continue to support this event EACH and EVERY year. Last year a few of the big name vendors were noticeably absent and I was a bit disappointed in them but not the show in general.

Come out and support this event in any way that you can so we can guarantee that it will continue for may decades to come.

Thanks

Kevin

I moved to the states almost 4 years ago and last year was my first time. It was awesome! I went by myself and stay there from thursday thorugh sunday and saw the finals between SVB and Thorsten.

Even tho I went by myself I had an awesome time! I can't imagine going with friends; unfortunatley my APA lague team dont know what they are missing...

I would love to meet some of the crowd here and see what I can learn from ya. :D

We can get an action pit going. You just need 2 guys with gamble and cash, plus a few good players that dont dump. I tried to get it going last year, people didnt seem to have it. There were only a few big sets and those were pooled money for a couple thousand. There was surely other big games that were not as publicized.

I will be looking to play short sets of 9 or 10 ball for 100-300 a set with non-world beaters. Just trying to have fun, not looking to get rich.

If the guy with the barbeque is back be sure to check him out, it was pig heaven. The other food isnt bad and not too pricey.

I got the breaker for 40!!!

What? There was definitely an action pit last year.

Let's meet up and play some $100-$200 sets. I promise I'm no world beater!

Not like it used to be. Used to be I would get 6 bets if I took the racker or a less known
breaker.

2 years back the table was at 100 a game. My player got in and lost. Went to the back of the line. Then he won and was breaking. By the end I was giving big odds on the money to keep getting action. When it was over when he won 10 straight. Mr. Ryan McCreesh. I split the cash with him, 370 each. He literally ran around the table. Most of the other players pulled up and it became a 40 dollar table very quickly.

PM me your number, we can try to play some. I dont like the 10/20 a rack crap. Everybody runs out and you end up just standing and waiting.

Man I remember every year around this time the forum was buzzing with SBE threads. Ever since the venue change seems like there's less threads about SBE.

Feel free to give your thoughts and especially what days you will be attending. I would love to meet and put a face to the names of azb'ers.

I was gonna suggest meeting around JB's to bring more traffic his way but for fear of well let's say... Arguments? Perhaps we should choose a more neutral setting.

Open to all opinions
judging by the number of players and vendors signed up, it looks like its doing just fine. Don't forget the economy is in the sssssshter

I understand what your saying. Theres not enough room for the pit anymore. Those couple tables where it was 10 deep of watchers and side bets. I think that hurt

First of all you're wrong about everything you said but I gotta say I like the new venue better. Everything on one floor is so much better and at night there are more tables open to play on and still lots of action.

^^^ This. I like everything on one huge level. I like the new location better. I like how Sandcastle is a hop skip and jump away.

This is my favorite time of year. I like SBE week more than Christmas.

I heard much of the action last year went to the sandcadtle. Ed was open the entire expo.

There is a small motel next door to the sandcastle. Does not look like much, but you don't have to drive, just walk through the parking lot.

The VF spot IMHO was the nuts. Everything was easily accessible, secure and convenient, the only exception was the line for the elevators.

The place down the street, was the worse trade show I was ever a part of.

The new place, is nicely situated in proximity to me, so although it requires a car ride and the parking sucks, it is better than VF II.

I noticed nothing posted for next year on the website, I wonder is a move is being planned...

I would love to see this event moved to Atlantic City. Probably due to the high costs this will probably not be a future venue. I would also be very happy with a Central Pennsylvania location as it may help draw more people west of Pennsylvania to the event. Regardless of where it is held I will always be there to support the event and to have loads of fun.

Prolly not. Too many damn poolplayers wanting to attend.

Then again, parking was nvr good. At any SBE.

Eric
It was pretty good at VF - at least for some!
Park, Leave It, Attend SBE, and walk the hall to your room!
Night life was the action table.

It has lost some luster IMO, but not enough for me to not go. It's still a great time!
