Never had any problems with my high end cues (to many names to list) all of them are perfect.
I been buying cues and having custom built cues made for me for over 8yrs from JD cues and I own 9 of his cues with not one problem and also purchased a cue in 2006 from Linds and no problem at all with that cue.

Hey Craig I still have that custom made one of a kind Adam jump cue you made that I purchased from you.:smile:Mike

I hope it has been a good cue for you Mike, it was certainly one of a kind and very unique.

Had a Patrick Navarro cue.
Played great when I first got it.
Really good looking cue from a distance.
After that, too many problems to list.

All 3 pieces began to bow.
Both original ferules fell off.
The finish had multiple air bubbles.
Tolerances between the wood and the inlays were poor.
Original seller disappeared.
ect...

I just sold a JD cue for exactly what I payed for it a year earlier. Cue looked almost identical to the day I bought it. Still straight. The only difference, I could feel the points on it through the clear coat but it looked good.

So, Joel Davidas gets my vote of confidence! I just wish he would upgrade his dang rock hard tips!!!

But, I have personally seen some Philippino cues around here that are crap....warped, uneven inlays and points, and sharpie-drawn veneers and the like. So, I would assume the Philippines is just like anywhere else. You have your good stuff and your crap stuff. I'm sure I could name 3 or 4 American cue makers that are absolute crap.

JD shafts warped

I bought a JD cue and both shafts are warped. Last overseas cue I will purchase. The butt end looks great! But honestly not worth the chance. If I had to do it again, I would not purchase one.

I once bought 2 Audrick cues, both cues (butts) warped just by standing in the showcase in my club, inlay's cracked also...

My JD cue came to me via the USA with a warped shaft. Its pretty much unplayable. Other than that, a pretty decent cue.

Man thanks for the link...

I blew sweet tea out of my nose reading all of the stuff on the lower right section of the page.... That's some good stuff there... or at least it was written while on the good stuff LOL

Wow! He put almost all the text in a 2 1/2" column on the right hand side of the page. Cool.

I play with a 2009 Miranda ivory on ebony and it's straight as straight can be. No cracks in the ivory and the finish is holding up tremendously well. The leather wrap quality isn't the best, but that's easily remedied.

Of the 3 Al Bautista cues I've owned...
2007/8 both the butt and shafts are straight on the table and the rail.
2010 butt and 1 shaft are straight on the rail and table, one shaft has slight roll-out on the rail only...flat on table.
2011 Celtic cue is completely straight no matter how you roll it.
Just my experience...I love my Black Pearls!!

Owned plenty of American cues before but only recently purchased my first Philippine cue. A Tony Bautista cue that you couldn't have beat the price for. Have only had it for about 2 weeks now but still rolls straight as an arrow here in NJ. love the hit of it!

KF Cues (Chinese Taipei)

Of all my cues, only one was not American made. It's a KF Cues model that I really, really love. It's been perfect.

I should add one note here.....it came with a European tapered shaft. I own one other cue that has a European taper, but I prefer a pro taper. Sherm Adamson is my cue man, so I sent it over to him. He did a superb job of retapering it to a pro taper.

I wanna give Sherm a little plug. Sherm posts here as Sherm. Here's a link to his website for contact info......

My 2 Tony Bautista cues purchased in 2011 are dead straight as are the points. I sold the SW style cue to my buddy, an A player. He simply loves it ! I kept the wrapless cue and the Mezz Hybrid Alpha shaft. LOVE IT ...Tom

P.S. Best value from any cuemaker that I have seen, and Ive had a lot of cues :)

I am curious as to how many people on cues from out of the country and if they stay straight? I play with a JD from the Philippines and its the best cue I have owned, its been over a year and its still in great condition even after being to NY, Derby, California and Vegas along with me living here in AZ which is a drastic change in humidity. This could work both ways so if your outside of the US and have bough US made cues then let me know your experiences.

I have had cues from several US makers and some well known that were not abused but ended up having the rings pop, shafts warp slightly and some even the butt. I feel if a cue is properly built using quality materials and taken care of then the chances of it warping are very slim but ultimately its still wood and things can happen with all the variables.

I have no experience with Phillipines cues, Lenny... But I can say that my Palmer model M still rolls straight after all these decades.

Bought a Jacoby back in the 90's...it still rolls straight.

My player now, the best playing cue to date, is a Josey bought in 2007.
It and both shafts roll straight.

The only flaws are minor dings that I have caused.

Guess I've been lucky?
