Hatch vs Hall us open

yup I remember that like it was yesterday.

Hatch was ready to explode on the world before Archer or any of them, then the 9-8 loss and he fades out.

Back in 88-93 when I was playing Hatch was an absolute TERROR!!!!

It was great for me to watch his matches. He's a year younger than me, we're both lefties and stand kinda similar. It was great visualization of what I might look like if I played like a champion.

Hell Tommy Kennedy used to joke with me, saying "Hey Look! It's Dennis Hatch" when I would walk in.

I have seen and heard some killer stories about him. One I witnessed from about 10' was him showing up in Daytona in 89, drawing Buddy, borrows Buddy's break cue and without so much as a practice stroke runs 6 from the coin toss.

He broke and pushed out after that, Bussy banked it in and ran 2, and when Buddy broke dry, the set was over 9-2 in 2 innings.

Ironic Buddy sidetracks his career in this video, Hatch once told me (back about 92) that he was something like .700 lifetime against the Rifleman.

Can't rep you until I pass some more around, but thanks. I was talking to Dennis about three or four years ago, and Strickland's name came up. He told me that Earl has a losing record against him, or that Earl has never beaten him. I can't remember which. I found it funny the WAY he said it.

Dennis' motions and body language is a spitting image of Vincent Laria from The Color of Money in this video. I keep expecting him to look over at Buddy and wave his hand through his hair and say "...and his hair was perfect!"...lol. Great video...thanks for posting.

Dennis is only 39 or 40 now, and still a great player! One of the best in this country. People sometimes forget about him because he doesn't travel as much to tournaments as some of the other guys. But if and when he shows up, you will know about it. I hope he makes it to the Open this year. I'd like to stake him! Yo Big D!

Hey Jay, I've seen Hatch give a guy the six and the last four that I give the eight to, and play eight ahead. Lasted about 50 minutes. Poor fella kicked twice. On the Gandy Big G, it looked like Dennis was playing on a big bartable. Hey, and he can still play.

> Archer was right there too at that tournament. He had a lead of 4-0 and 7-1 against Buddy in the previous semifinal, missed a 9,Buddy got it back to 7-4,and ran out the set.

Can you imagine having Dennis,Archer, and Shannon Daulton in the same car, with Buddy driving? Tommy D.

I think he's a year younger than me, which makes him 37ish.

I only played a few years, like 89-93, but he was the great white, swimming in a school of minnows down here. Aggressive, confident, solid. And this is at 17-22 years old!!!!

I'm just sorry I never got to see him play hard for the cash. The stories they still tell down here are legion!!! Him and the "Hurricane" going to Brown's in 92, for one. I missed it but i heard it first hand, the next day.

I heard some rumors that Dennis put out some feelers to play some $$$$ money matches in the very near future. I sure hope these come off I never really got to see Dennis gamble but what I have been told he is a monster for the cash.

There are apps that will let you download the file from Yahoo and then you can convert it to AVI (or any number of formats) and put it on DVD yourself.
