Have you ever caught someone walking off with your cue?

I like this idea and i'm definately interested in getting one. Please let us know what you come up with and how much it will cost.

James

I, too, would be interested in one of those. The only issue would be whether or not the range is adjustable. I'd hate to have it either go off every time I make a potty run, or have to figure out some way around that.

they make very small ones for newborn babies. It is on a tiny ankle braclette and one for mom's wrist. If the baby is moved too far away an alarm sounds and the floor is locked down.

Here you go Pii, only $450!

HMMMMM I think I need to wait for them to come down in price and size. After all you don't want them to find it and attach it to some squirrel.

Now where is the alarm I see someone posted pic but I can't find the post with he link

sounds good but . . .

That sounds interesting but I think I'll wait until they do something about the smell. My play stinks, I would hate for my case or cue to stink too! :D :D :D

Here's two good ones for you-Once in the mid or late 90's I was playing a tourney in Mobile AL at the old Neon Palace. This was actually a Texas Express tour event, with alot of people watching. The table next to my match was unoccupied, so I was leaving my case and j/b on it. I won a game, grabbed my j/b, and put my schon on the table. I broke the rack, turned around and my cue was gone. No one in the crowd of 5-10 people watching my match saw anything, lol. I also had a Joss circa 69 or 70 that was taken from me during a bar tourney in my hometown. The only problem for the guy was that he bragged about it to his cousin, who happened to be a good friend of mine. He got it back for me, but only after I promised him no harm would come to his cousin if I ever found out who it was. Oh well, at least I got one of 'em back-Matt

There is a device that'll work for cases available immediately- if I get enough interest I'll make a bulk buy. The cost should be less than $20.

Here is a pic of the one that has the greatest chance to be engineered into a bumper replacement. If I can't do it, a friend of mine has a company that can adapt a wireless sensor package. Cost TBD but I'll find out.

I'd been thinking about this for a while- last night just made it happen. (I'm getting one for my case!)
How much is the cost for a bulk purchase and where can I get one now if the cost difference will is not great?

I once had a retarded waitress put one of my sneakey petes on the wall with the house cues. The thing is it looked nothing like a housecue. Nice inlays and u could see the joint clearly. I found it though. I just dont know how u can work in a pool hall for years and not know SOMETHING about pool or its equipment

I haven't contacted any suppliers yet- here's what I've found so far:

http://www.absspysupplystore.com/id10.html
http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/loc8tor-plus.html
http://defensedevices.com/rfid-tag-alarm-system.html
http://www.etechchina.cn/product/alarm.asp
http://www.personaltrackers.com/prod/ptb-security150.html

At this point I can't provide any recommendation for any of the devices. My plan is to get a couple and try them out and then make some available to others once I can stand behind a product. If you happen to buy one and it works out please share your thoughts with the community.

Good luck!

Steve

I've never walked off with a cue, but, something weird in the Rum Rummer in Vegas happened to me.
I was playing some guy from Portland $50 9 ball and taking it to him pretty nicely.
There was a guy from Jersey there and betting on me and just as happy as a pig in shit. He was ahead quite well when he announced he had to take his girl to the room and would be back in 30 minutes. He then asked if I would watch his cue while he was gone which was a real nice Szanboti. I said well, yep I guess so.
The guy I was playing raised the bet and went empty pretty quickly and it was over. About an hour had gone by and the guy who left his cue with me had not returned.
By now it is like 5-6 in the morning and I'm tired, but, think he will be back soon, so I begin to drink. I have one after the other until almost 9am and have had enough it is time to slelep.
But, I have this cue and don't know what to do, so I grab my cue, his cue and head for the door. Just as I reach for the door the guy is coming in, sees his cue in my hand heading out and goes irrate on me. He calls me every name in the book until finally, I, BONK, and put him on his ass, threw his cue at him and walk out.
I never saw this guy agin and never knew why he was gone so long. For years I've thought I would run into him again someday, but, no so far.

Ironman!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe his girlfriend detained him an that was why he was gone so long. They can do that you know. He sure didn't care much about his Szam.

They all look great. I like the one that allows you to search/locate the item. In your case would work but to get one small enough to place under your cues bumper would be outstanding. Someone steals your cue and you are silently notified. You perform the search and find the culprit. LOJACK for your cue......

I've thought about asking others to watch my cue, but situations similar to yours come to mind. As it turns out, every time I have to take a leak, so does my cue. Every now and then I get strange looks but who cares, I know my cue is safe. I'd hate to have a friend feel responsible if something happened while they had agreed to watch my stuff.

Sounds like you handled a bad situation pretty well.

I used to always go to bars with a Sneaky Pete that is a true hustler cue, no collar. So to the naked eye it appeared to be a house cue. Now I never actually used it for hustling (not that good) but I just don't like being that guy with the nice cue that happens to be having an off night.

Those I always had to keep an eye on it. Either a bar backer would put it away with the others or a banger would grab it to use thinking it's a house cue.

I have seen the flip side though; mantool if your reading this you'll remember. He had his cues on a table not being used. I was at the bar getting a drink, I turned to see what was going on and a guy was grabbing his cue doing the "roll back and forth" to check for warp. Like that fact that it was a nice Mcdermott didn't make it obvious like it wasn't a house cue. Then he satrted walking away with it to shoot. Sorry buddy the house cues are on the wall with the other tree limbs.

Long time ago, I had purchased my first cue. A dark blue McDermott. I went to the bar that night to try it out. I needed a drink so I left it on the table with a fresh rack of balls and stepped to the bar.

When I turned around these 2 hoochie bitc*es, all skanked out in club clothes had picked up my cue and busted my rack.

I went to let them know that it was my cue and my table they were invading. When I told the girl it was my cue she said, "oh, well we are playing here now." I told her, "No, this is MY cue". She didn't get it and we almost had a big ol' cat fight over it.

I finally had to tell her how much it cost me before she would get the fact that it was my PERSONAL cue, not a house cue that I was playing with.

Whoever saw a dark blue house cue? Stupid Bitc*!!!

Still makes me mad...lol

That was the only thing I could think of. It must have been some mighty good stuff. I would have watched that than his cue.

I used to be a surf degenerate when I lived down in FLA, and people were always trying to "mistakenly walk off" with your boards. A local shaper (board builder) came up with putting a locator in the board as he shaped it so you could find it if it walked off. It cost an extra $50......not bad considering custom hand shaped boards range from about $400 on up to about a G.

Never try to out run a surfer with his board under your arm!!! I have seen some NASTY beat downs over surf boards. Not to mention most surfers are in excellent physical condition.....and they usually have a BUNCH of friends:D

This past Saturday I played in a local Q-Masters tournament and in-between matches I went to the bathroom. Anyway I finished the tournament in 3rd, packed up and went home. Today at lunch I break my cues out to play some old guys at the community center here on base and there are GIANT (like 10 inch) black streaks on my break cue butt where they had scuffed it against the brunswick pockets while breaking. They go through the finish and into the wood. Apparently they had used it while I was in the bathroom or when I wasn't paying attention or something. I know I didn't do this, because the tournament was played on diamond pro-ams with leather pockets.

So now because someone else has awful form and no respect for another person's equipment I have to pay for a butt refinish. Luckily the local guy (Dave Bollman) does great work for very reasonable compensation. I guess that's what happens when you have a break cue that looks like a house cue (except for the 1 piece canvas-resin tip).
