Hawaii Pool Halls

There are only two pool halls on Oahu (what I would consider pool halls).

The Velvet Touch and Hawaiian Brian's.

Hawaiian Brian's will not open until they allow bars and things to open...whenever that may be.

I heard The Velvet Touch is open today and you can play by making an appointment. I guess they are controlling the number of people inside at one time. I have no idea what, if anything, they are doing to make the place safer (i.e., cleaning, sanitizing, etc.).

If something looks different in there since the last time you went there then that's a good sign. It means they probably rearranged furniture cleaned the place. If it looks and smells like the same and tables look dirty then no, they haven't cleaned.

Just call and ask them, I'm sure they are prepared to answer queries for that.

Do you know if there are any decent places to play on Maui?

My wife's mom lives in Kihei and we visit once a year. There used to be a good place called "The Sports Page" that had 4 good bar tables, but that closed years ago unfortunately. I know the Lava Rock got a few of their tables, but I wonder if there are places with several good tables?

I never play in The Velvet Touch, but I am not going anywhere for at least another 4 days.

I had an eye surgery (cataract and retina procedure) that was scheduled to be done on March 25, but it got cancelled a couple days prior when everything went on lock down. My other eye was fixed last December.

I have been rescheduled to have my surgery done on Tuesday, but I have to take a COVID-19 test on Monday before they will allow surgery to happen.

I'm not going anywhere to get exposed to anything until my surgery is done.

First of all, no matter what you do you can catch the disease, nothing is foolproof. Even if you catch it the odds are greatly in your favor to survive.

In my view, the problem is they really don't know if it's airborne. There is ample evidence some of the virus is, but they're not sure if it's enough to cause an infection. Laughing, loud talking, heavy breathing may be launching this stuff and it could circulate with the help of indoor fans. For that reason, I would wear a respirator and consider eye protection, like glasses. If you do, I think you can then pretty much do as you wish, play others etc. and just be careful not to touch your face without washing your hands. When I say respirator you can get KN95's (Chinese medical masks) on Amazon now.

If you decide not to wear a respirator, then I would try to stay as far away as possible from others and just practice. I know it's not fun playing with protective equipment but I truly believe that's our way of living for awhile. Regular cloth masks don't offer much protection.

Good luck on the surgery - I'm sure it will be a relief to get it done!

Don't get caught up in the media fear mongering about this alleged SARS-COV-19, there's trillions of viruses in our body, go play pool and enjoy life. The main things is drink 6-8 glasses of pure water and don't eat any processed foods if possible. The main pandemic we're having is from toxic air food, water, and drugs the last 10-15 years, it's catching up and "the powers that be" knew it!

Play well, the game is the teacher my friend.

Next time you come over, I'll take you to get some good Vietnamese food. There is a really good pho place across from Brian's and about 100 yards down the street.

Yeah, those almost 90,000 DEAD Americans from Covid 19 are just fake news, huh CJ? We can't forget about the pandemic of "flat Earthers" like yourself either. Fortunately, that one hasn't spread very far! LMAO
