I was given a bunch of wood that a friend had in his shop for around 15 years. He doesn't remember what the top two are called. I know the bottom two care Koa, but does anybody have any idea what the top two are? They are two different woods.

Maybe Mango?.........not a ton of variety on the islands ... should be able it ID easy enough. Pictures make it a guessing game sometimes though.

I thought Mango too, but he said no. He's going to try to check with his ex wife and find out, but I've had them several months and haven't heard anything. I have enough for about 10 forearms of each of the top two (not thick enough for butts). Will certainly have to be cored.

I emailed the guy I got them from, but I imagine he checks his email about once a year, not every five minutes like I do.

I've got 20 pieces of that Koa and the other stuff I was about to toss when I realized I could at least get forearms out of it if it looked any good.

Mango?? Doesn't look Same

Howzit Guys,
As for the Unkown Wood in Tony's Photo, I don't know.. I'm really not a good Hawaiian Woods guy for info..
This is a photo I just took of a Mango block given to me by the Late (And Great) Ricardo Delleria... Famous for his KOA Jewery Boxes..
He wrote the "Mango" on this piece..
I don't know if they are the same.. Alton
