headphones during matches

I agree that headphones should be disallowed. However, I do feel that low profile earplugs with no mechanical stuff in them (solid rubber or foam) should be allowed.

I'm an average Joe that plays in a couple of straight pool leagues. Out of forty or so persons of varying skills and backgrounds I match up against maybe three wear headphones. They are the 'psycho' ones (you know who they are) that are always looking for an excuse and can't deal with the distractions of reality and think it'll help if they can't hear me say 'nice shot' when they make one. So, let them live in their little world of billiards perfection. It's all the same to me. Just don't ask 'did you call that' when I make a nice one.

And if I slop one in it counts since you don't know if I called it or not.

I listen to a lot of trip hop while shooting. It's normally soft beats instrumental or accompanied with some signing.

Also like Lana Del Rey a lot when playing. Kinda puts me in the zone.

And anything from Trent Reznor or Maynard James Keenan is great too. Some people find NIN and Tool a bit harsh, but a lot of their more recent stuff is very melodic and even mellow. Real good nod your head music. Great when shooting.

Just created a pretty good Jonathon Davis playlist for nostalgia purposes.

Puscifer? I like it, don't own any.

Had an issue @ a MD production event....Guy wearing headphones...I get up to just look at the cueball on the HS. seemed short ( for the 2nd time).. tried to stay to the side..gets pissed cries to Marc. (Note he scratched ) who over reacts....(Must have been a regular of Marc's)

WTF he couldn't hear me if I asked..

Hind site didn't matter that much and was just curious. Should have just stayed seated.

I would very try to shark anyone ..not my style...

Not good enough HAHA

I do like wearing them during warm up to relax.

So my vote not during a match...

So, somebody that wears headphones is a psycho, but somebody that CHEATS is a good person? I'm so confused.

Who gives a crap if a person would rather listen to what they wanna hear vs whats on the box?

Seems like somebody^^^^is the one looking for an excuse, not the "psycho" he's pointing his finger at. Just sayin.

And if anyone touches my chalk, I'll kill you.
Anyone calls me Francis, I'll kill you
And if any of you league bangers stare at me while I'm bent over on my shot....

PT109,
That is why most larger tournaments that allow headphones, also state ahead of time that those wearing headphones lose the option to argue a shot.

Okay so let me clarify why I started this thread.
I was not concerned with casual games between a few buddies or even a serious game for some real cash. Nor was I concerned with weekly tournaments. My question was should head phones be allowed during major matches and world class tournaments.
