Heads up!

I don't know either of you or your history as I'm not around all that often. The only reason I'm even bothering to say anything is because a persons character has been called into question.

When I read the original post with the first quote, I can assure you that I understood that post to say that Deadpoked threatend you and your family. I was quite surprised when I read the 2nd quote because I honestly can't see how it could mean anything but that.

For the sake of this young man's character, could you please clarify what the quote actually means?

Based on his LONG STANDING habit of posting aggressive inults to me...often without the least bit of provocation, I don't know what "character" he might have that would be called into question.

I CERTAINLY owe him no favors.

If you and he read into my post something that was not there, I have already stated that he was not involved in that incident and I don't feel the need to comment any further.

Possibly, he will learn to desist from attacking people with rule-breaking insults...but I seriously doubt it.

After all, he TAUNTS the moderators of this forum with accusations of operating a Police State which conjurs images of Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy under the thug Mussiloni and Castro Cuba.

I don't imagine the moderators like that sort of ACCUSATION but his was delivered intentionally, directly and unmistakably.

But my statement can only REMOTELY infer...not accuse deadpoked of anything.

The mods can delete the whole post if they wish. For my part, the comment stands as written and does not suggest let alone accuse him of anything.

Internet Forums that are privately owned do not have the same free speech rights that America has. The owners//admins//moderators can do what they please without reason, or needing to give one. Thats just a fact.

The entity size that AZB has grown to does require more attention from administrative personal, if you want the black and white rules.

I for one am thankful for Mr.Wilson's leniency, and AZB. Its a great place to learn. If he wants you to post in the NPR section, NPR stuff, then you should do so, or don't complain when it gets deleted.

As an uninterested party just reading through the thread, I disagree. I read it exactly the same way that it was Deadpoked who had made the cell phone threats.

If it wasn't, I agree with Deadpoked in editing.

Nobody is reading anything into it. You stated it very clearly; you just stated it INCORRECTLY based on your other posts regarding the subject. Therefore, you should delete it because you obviously did not mean what you wrote.

This is a vote in favor of cracking down on npr stuff on the main board. Once a thread gets pushed off the first page, it's about finished, and the npr threads take up too much room, I think. As do endless flame wars, no matter who is "right."

Due to multiple suggestions from apparently neutral members that I edit the post I have done so.

Now, we will see if deadpoked edits his post in which he highlighted my comment in RED.

And I also request that he edit his rule-violating posts directed to me in this thread.

But I won't hold my breath.

Regards,
Jim

i guess i owe an apology for my hairy guy and 3 cheeked girl yesterday. it was only meant as a spoof thread on fatboys pride and joy. i thought it was funny even though i knew it didn't belong. i wasn't surprised it was zapped and understand completely.

admit it, mr. wilson, you got a chuckle or two before deleting it?

I think that was the right thing to do based on how I read the post. Congrats for doing the right thing.

so again, is it black and white?

Do poeple want a stricter interpretation of the rules and swift trial and execution when they are broken?

( AV8 ) would be an example, he change what he was asked. It took Mike to get him to change, but he has.
If I am not constantly being baited or challenged ( watchez ) people generally are left to their own devices if asked to stop whatever it is they are being asked to stop.

so what is it?

If you are so nihilistic that you want me to ban away....remove yourself rather than challenge me.

I don't mince words. I state clearly what I have to say and clarify if needed.

People either want to be here or they don't.

....but don't rock the boat then complain if tossed overboard.

Doesn't need to be black and white, few things are. I suggest that you use your discretion and delete (as a warning) and ban as needed based on your interpretation of a poster's intent to make a contribution to the board.

I do not think that you need to or should inform anyone. Public comments only seem to lead to protracted nit picking discussions. Everyone knows the rules and how they are loosley interpreted.

Personally, I think that you could be more strict with some of the inane posters who simply like to smart mouth or start arguments. I am less interested in the board now because there is much trash to wade through.

Thanks. Now we will see what deadpoked is made of. He is logged on at this time but so far, has not edited his copy of my comments nor his rule-violating insults to me.

Jim

Which post did you edit? I thought the offending material was in post 90.
There has been no edit that I can see.

As far as the NPR threads only in the NPR, I'm fine with that.

But please give the other members, that want to spout their political and religous beliefs, every chance they get, another place to go.

Justin, I actually did edit the post...yes #90...and thought I hit the save button but either I didn't or there was some glitch.

I just edited it again to state..."including threats by a poster who I do not believe to be you..."

It seems to have "taken" this time.

Actually, Larry, the daily readers of AzBilliards forum have already seen that picture many times, as it was used as an avatar by a European pro player. I think his forum name is Furryboffin.

Jay Helfert helped to sponsor him in the U.S. Open this past year. :)

Here is the thread with the avatar underneath his name: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=73968&highlight=Wikipedia

1) This is NOT a democracy, it is Mike's website, and he does a heck of a job, along with Mr. Wilson.

2) Mr Wilson is totally reasonable with his requests. This is a billiards forum, and it should always be the main subject and driving force. I must admit, I think 2 times in the past, I posted something NPR in the Main forum, but it was simply a mistake on my part, and because I was excited at the time.

3) I THINK THAT ANYONE THAT DOES NOT POST ANYTHING POOL RELATED IN POOL RELATED FORUMS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO POST IN THE NPR SECTION. This would weed out trolls and undesirables from cluttering up the NPR section.

4) The Political debates, if that is what you can call them, gets really tiring. I mean have you ever convinced someone to your way of thinking politically, especially in a forum? The answer is a resounding 'NO'. (Can I get a long reverberation on that NO?). Furthermore, have any of the incessant political debaters ever held a public office? I have, BTW, 2 terms.

5) Now, we have some little boys on here that post simply to 1-up someone they have targeted. The thread doesn't make a difference, whether it is justified or not, doesn't make a difference, their main purpose
is to 1-up the other person. (And you know who you are, because the hair just stood up on the back of your neck.) My suggestion Dave, is to give them a timeout until they learn to play well with other children.

6) Jude, Jam, Neil made some good posts and points. But, Jenny, as someone that is an IT professional, and having worked in the field for 30 years, maintenance work can be very time consuming on a system, and since Dave is a volunteer, I do not think he should be burdened down anymore than is necessary to keep the system running smooth, and so I take a little exception to Dave having to be moving a bunch of threads on a daily basis, it should be just an occasional exception type thing.

If the rules are followed, it would not be a daily type task to perform.

7) Pictures, Videos, etc.. should NOT be allowed in the signature line, they are annoying, take up too much space, and are NOT pool related, IMO. I think Eric Yow's is the only exception since it is Pool related.

S,

++++++++++++++, the only suggestions I'd make would be to ALLOW pics, vids, soft? porn, etc., if the post IS in the NPR section.

SIGS should also be limited to X number (60-100?) characters. The trail of chit/spam following some posters is obnoxious. And NO, I don't want to turn off my SIG function...

I think you misinterpreted my post.

The point I was making is that IF AND WHEN Mr. Wilson decides to move a thread, there should be no need for ANY EXPLANATION whatsoever.

IMHO, a moderator can move threads without providing an explanation, whether is one thread daily or ten threads daily.

JAM

Jenny

No, I think I understood you, and agree with you, only that there should not ever be a need to be moving 10 threads on a daily basis, that would almost qualify him for 'hazardous duty pay' .....

He shouldn't have to move more than 3-5 threads a week maximum if people followed the rules.
