Heads up!

Personally, I think from now on the moderator, whether it be Mr. Wilson, Chuckles, or Mike Howerton, should just execute whatever actions they deem appropriate and NEVER, NEVER, NEVER post as to why they did it.

Actions speak louder than words. They owe nobody an explanation as to their actions. Any response by a moderator is done out of courtesy.

JAM,
I will agree. I couldn't believe this thread actually had any responses at all. No point.

I frequent another forum in my industry. It does not have as many cool features as AzBilliards. The forum is about one year old, but they have about 1,200 members. However, it seems only about 50 folks post on a regular basis, and I was one of them.

What I found incredible in this forum is the fact that the have FIVE -- count them -- FIVE moderators for this itsy, bitsy forum. I thought this was very strange, being accustomed to AzBilliards and considering the other forum is so small.

Every single day, one of the moderators moves posts from one section to another. Their NPR section is called "Water Cooler." They have a lot of sub-forums, like we do on AzBilliards. Any one of these five moderators has the capability to move posts, and believe you me, they do it every single day, and NOBODY whines and moans or questions these moves.

What is a problem here at AzBilliards, IMHO, is there is only one moderator, Mr. Wilson, and then there is Mike Howerton, who is the webmaster. For a forum this size, there should be more moderators, MANY MORE.

Mr. Wilson has taken heat on this forum because it seems as if he's the lone soldier, trying to keep order. I remember when he was a regular happy poster. I haven't seen a post by Mr. Wilson in recent times, other than a moderator-type post.

There should be at least five moderators or more here because of the size. That way, if one moderator is offline or on vacation, there are several to keep order.

I know this forum suffered a bad experience with one moderator in the past who eventually was banned frrm here. However, the need for more than Mr. Wilson and Mike Howerton is here. One moderator should not have to put up with all the crap on this forum, as Mr. Wilson has. This place is too large. What ever happened to the Chuckles moderator?

If one of the five moderators moves a post on my industry forum, there isn't a peep about it. The moderators are respected, all five of them, and they are also happy regular posters on the forum.

That is my story and I am sticking with it! :)

I was thinking the same thing. Two moderators and an Administrator for this size of forum is crazy. There should be at least 5 IMO. Alot of the *****ing and moaning has me considering giving AZB the kick to the curb.

Mike Howerton will always be the ultimate authority, but Mr. Wilson acting on Mike's behalf should just move the threads, delete the threads, create stickies, and ban posters -- WITH NO EXPLANATION TO ANYONE. When he tries to be courteous and provide an explanation, there are always those who do not agree, and some go as far as to attack his integrity. This is not fair to Mr. Wilson, to Mike Howerton, and to the forum as a whole.

I feel the same way. I feel they can do what ever they need to. It is a privately owned bussiness.

Before you edit your post at least give me an opportunity to finish this book I am reading. Afterall, it was such a well thought out post.

Your decision to read a book having to do with growing up is an EXCELLENT ideal.

I'll go back to the police state "analogy" I said earlier, police state, your reasoning is all fine and dandy until you or one of your closest friends is banned without given a fair & logical reason for doing so.

Go outside and play. The sunshine will do you some good.

Great advise Tim,

However, this is a group of pool players.

We never go outside. :) :) :)

Seriously,

The rules for this forum are to help the Pool Playing / supporting community keep everyone up on pool and/or billiards.

Is it a big deal that Mr. Wilson is asking that folks keep NPR stuff in the NPR forum? If folks start getting used to the stuff that is over there and it is what they are looking for, they will not have a problem continuing to go to that spot.

Perhaps Mr. Wilson can move a posting to the NPR (if needed) and have a note on the inappropriate forum along with a link???

We all come on here with similar but different goals. Hopefully the main goal is somewhat common though. Because AZB is a great place to learn and talk about pool/billiards.

He was making a point. No one got banned. This is like a bad game of telephone.

I am 100% sure I will want to gouge my eyes out with a garden hoe for posting in this thread.

Tks for the reply.

Then, IMO, his point is pointless because I can't recall ( I might be wrong) of anyone getting banned who didn't deserve it or chose suicide by moderator.

"Deadpoked" is my pal, one of my favorite "young gun posters"....(see #25 in this thread...http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?p=1133656#post1133656)
BUT....
That WAS a funny line you layed on him!:D :D

He probably went outside to shoot something while also getting some much needed sunlight.
I'm sure he'll be back when he runs out of ammo.:)

JCIN, don't unwind that garden hose just yet. The kids are just acting up a bit, spring is sprung and all that. The change in weather makes some of us giddy. This thread just SEEMS to be spiraling out of control.:D

We all love & respect Mr Wilson, and I think he knows that & when we're just playing around some.:)

Lastly, this reminds me of one of the last things I ever did before graduating 12th grade. Me & my 3 close associates were forbidden to go outside during lunch recess because we got a little bit "too aggressive" in dodgeball earlier that morning and sent an unusually high amount of kids to the nurses office where she looked into their eyes with a penlight before applying bad-aids to assorted body parts. Anyway, I raised my hand and said to Mrs Gamble "Mrs Gamble, can this table PLEASE go outside?" She showed her soft side and relented, saying "OK, just make sure you all learned your lesson and play nice."

We all uttered "Thank you, Mrs Gamble. And proceeded to stand up and take the cafeteria table outside, where we sat back down and waited for Mrs Gamble to come out of the principal's office with Mr Zellers.

Moral of all this is that many people still like to play shenanigans just to make others smile. :) 99% of the posters know what is and isn't allowed here, and more importantly, 99% of us ABIDE by these very easy rules. It's not all that hard to be a member in good standing with Mr Wilson ("Dave" when we're not in the hot seat :) ) and everybody else here.

This is all just harmless banter to help get the happy endorphamines flowing thru our blood.:) Things will get back to normal soon, and before we realize it, there'll be another "catastrophe" to deal with and to be bantered about amongst ourselves.

Terry, actually that isn't correct. The rules AS PUBLISHED are routinely violated including multiple occasions in this very thread.

That is not a criticism of forum management at all...just an observation of fact.

Personally, I would suggest that the rules be relaxed to conform to the extremely tolerant enforcemenht standards. To do otherwise risks selective enforcement.

Conversely, if the rules, as written, were strictly enforced there would have been at least 100 warnings and who knows how many bannings in the past month alone!

Regards,
Jim
