Having been referred to as “a lowlife piece of caribou waste” many times in my life I have had a unique opportunity to profile those who use that term. First as you noticed fear and also insecurity are the main trigger. It is a common term with Alaskan hillbillies that like Willie do not come from a “gene pool” but rather a “gene puddle”.

I haven't been there since straight pool league ended in March (not surprisingly Jeanette Lee and Jeff Beckley finished 1/2) - are you wanting some action with those "scrubs"???? I probably won't go back until October, but let me know who specifically you want to antagonize and I can probably help you out. Let me know if you are ever back in town.

I did not post what I heard as a fact. I do agree it would have been a good idea to check out the information first, but it didn't happen that way, my bad. It's an imperfect world. It got cleared here like it should have.

The source attributed the information to someone who is quite creditable and then changed his story yesterday. I knew right then that what was said originally was bullshit. There's no point in outing the guy on a public forum for it.

I'm done with this thread and moving on...

If you seriously want to take a credibility hit against your reliable source, I say you post his/her name. You didn't hesitate to quickly post a rumor that could damage the DCC. Mark & Greg both have emails & you could have inquired first before you posted something like this.

Where else can you find out things about the pool world, if not on AZB??? The info sure isn't in the Wall Street Journal.

It's understandable how these things happen, with the Glass City Open so recently ceasing operation. Ohio, Kentucky - there's not much difference to guys out in Cali.

Posting a Title that damaging seemed weird to me without verifying sources. The DCC is 6 mos away, so I think everyone involved had time to send an email or call them to find out the real story. I hate coming on the board everyday and seeing "Heard DCC has been cancelled" as the most recent post of the day. Maybe "DCC rumour" would have been a better title??? Who knows. I hope if anyone has questions about MY business that instead of posting unfounded rumours they would at least take 60 seconds out of their life and send me an email or a phone call. I think everyone knows how to get a hold of me through my website email or publicly posted phone numbers. If I saw "Cue & Cushion in St Louis closed forever" as an ongoing thread I would be pretty upset. I know in St Louis rumours about other pool rooms and players are constantly circulating. Most are exaggerated to say the least. The internet is a whole new arena where rumours can be spread around the world causing damage to reputations and finances quickly. I hope all posters (not directed at any persons in particular) in the future make better use of private messages and emails before posting negative information that may or may not be true. Especially if it hurts a person or a business. It just shows common respect I think. My $.02...*sigh*
