Heartbreak! 99 on video

Marop, I'm afraid I can't even view this video knowing that you fall one ball short from a century... heartbreaking... :(

I'm just starting to watch the video and wanted to bring something up which I immediately saw.

At 1:09 into the run, and again at 1:14, you have the opportunity to play the 8 straight up into the corner. This effectively opens the position without really having to go into anything. It's a shot you'll have to aim, but one you should definitely make almost every time.

Whether it's definitely the right shot or not (and it probably is, but who knows), I just wanted to point it out anyway because it appears like you never looked at it. And you had two opportunities at it, haha ;).

I think when you start to see these "hidden" opportunities a bit more, you're gonna start running hundreds all the time. Your patterns are already very solid, so this will only make you stronger.

And keep in mind I know it's very easy to point these things out on video after the run - I'm going through that myself with the videos I'm taping. Sometimes I'm shocked with what I never looked at...

- Steve

P.S. Now that I've finished watching the full sequence of the frame, the difficulties you have with the endrack would probably have all been avoided had you shot the 8 uptable.

Thanks Steve, I just looked at it and you are 100% correct, I had two shots at it and never looked at it, it was definetly the correct shot at tht time. I think I was still upset form missing the previous break ball that I was just shooting balls and not thinking.

Great run, Bill. Post up your run in the 2009 AZ Challenge...even if it won't move you up on the board. You've got to get 101 or more to take 6th place from TheOne, so there is your motivation if you needed some more.

I dunno whether to be happy or sad about this run.

On the one hand I'm happy to see that a player can shoot a bit... less than perfect... and be a hundred ball runner. It gives me hope to know you don't necessarily have to be one of the guys on TV to do it. I hope you don't take offense.. I figure you know there were some glitches in that run, based on some of the stuff you said after various shots =)

But it's [almost] 100 balls. That's the stuff accu-stats tapes are made of.

On the other hand, I want to be sad because I know that to get out of trouble, you came up with some great shots several times in a row. I dunno if I have the shooting ability to just drill in those long/thin cuts when I'm in trouble time after time.

Yes, it is not picture perfect. Some of Bill's other runs are much more picture perfect than this. some of his 30s,40s, 50s,60s are a little smoother. Heck, I didn't think he'd even get out of the first rack. I guess that is sometimes how high runs start.

Even when it looks like he is dead, he sure keeps coming at you no matter what. He did that to me at Derby on a tight Diamond when he ran a 68 on me. He kept saying he was through, nothing left, etc. I'd eagerly look at the table thinking I was about to shoot and then he'd pull out something and keep going. After three or four times of that, I told him to just shut up and keep shooting cuz I knew he would find something.
