If you do find out that it is actually a Joss cue, I would strongly caution you to leave it like it is and get the written confirmation from Dan Janes. I had an early Joss when they used to scratch the JOSS logo in block letters. The very bottom of the butt cap was cracked when I purchased it. but the logo was kept intact. I contacted Mr. Janes to find out how much he would charge to bring it back to original. His response was that he would not replace the butt cap in kind, but would only consider putting a current butt cap and logo on the cue. Ruined any chance of having a really complete early Joss, and also ruined any chance for future dealings with them as well.
I guess he just wanted me to buy a new cue! Now I only purchase Joss cues for resale, no matter how nice. Scruggs, Stroud, etc. all refused due to copywrite issues. I understand that, but it still left a pretty bad taste in my mouth.
