HELP! Jump Cue butt-end stuck in case

Although my Mezz case has a slick little pocket for the butt end of my jump cue, I somehow managed to accidentally put it in one of the standard shaft slots. Now its lodged firmly somewhere down the slot ...to the point where I can barely even see the end of it.

Any ideas on how to get it out? Preferably some method that won't scratch my cues, as they're worth more than anything else I own (including my car...lol)

Oh, and the idea of putting a small hole in the bottom of the case and using something thin to push the cue up and out won't work. My case has a VERY strong bottom, and nothing short of an actual drill will make a hole in it.

Maybe if you post some pictures.

Which end is up? the joint end or butt end?

I just tried to take a picture, but it wont work. The butt is so far down the slot that you can only see it with a flashlight. I cant shine a light down the hole AND take a picture at the same time, as the camera ends up blocking the angle (or vice versa). Its that narrow.

Anyway, the butt end is facing up. All you can see is the butt cap. Its lodged in there pretty good and shaking my case furiously has only made things worse.

take everything out and bang it gently on the ground until it slides up to the top then bang the end of it against a counter so the hole which the butt is stuck in is hanging over the edge and it should slide out

Just take a picture of the case, the openings and see if you find a picture of a like jump cue.

Long screwdriver...take scew out of butt cap....go get a threaded rod that size threads...screw rod in butt of cue...pull out cue...maybe. Johnnyt

Try making it cold. Most materials contract when cold, right. This slight contraction may be just enough to allow it to slide out.

A walkin beer cooler a your local store might just do the trick.

I would first try scottyr44's bumping suggestion. If that doesn't work, try compressed air. Hold the case upside down and gently apply the air, holding your hand around the nozzle to seal it to the case/tube. The idea is that the air will reduce the friction between the butt and the case, allowing the butt to drop out. (Old mechanics seem to prefer a compressed air solution to everything.)

if no screw just rubber cap try installing a screw then needle nose pliers or put tywire around screw prior to screwing into butt be careful last resort!
also try silicon spray ?
lol:sorry:

That was my job in a past life...breaking into, er I mean getting into things. I was pretty good at it. Even went to locksmith school. Johnnyt

I had tried this before with no luck. However after you suggested it, I decided to give it another go.....this time with a slight variation. I just threw a pillow on the floor to cushion the impact, and then banged the crap out of it until it worked.

Thanks a lot for your help everyone. Problem solved.

No I won't have to borrow my opponents jump cue during money sets. lol

If there is rubber on the end of the butcap you might try using a fish hook to catch it and pull it up. I had success with that on an old Porper case that a butt got lodged in. Or maybe a metal coat hanger and slide it beside the the butt and try to catch the end and pull it up. Good luck. That sux.

Glad you got it out. This was an interesting thread. learned a few ways to get a stuck stick out. :)

If the whole is an air tight pvc pipe, you can try try heating the air inside
(maybe a blow dryer) and seal the hole tight. once the air cools it should suck the cue out. make sur the seal is air tight, and case is positioned to
so graviy will also help free it....MAYBE!!1 Weird but I seriously think it will work.I don't think it will hurt your cue.seal it with something ard that won't give.

Let us know how you get it out.

Glad you got it out, usually if it is loose enough to work its way down from gravity or just putting your case down it should come out by doing the same in the opposite direction.

This is God's punishment for owning an evil jump cue. Better get rid of it before something really bad happens.
