I have decided at the first of next year to take $5000 out of my 401k and buy my holy grail cue one that I will keep forever and even leave to my children.I have not decided on what cue I will buy or even who I will have make it but I want to spend the whole 5 G's I might even buy a Gus but I just don't know for sure. And so I am talking to my wife about this telling her what I have been pondering on and to get her opinion on what to buy, when she says you can buy your ultimate cue or get me BREAST IMPLANTS.Well my mouth falls open and I am dumbfounded for a moment, then I think hmmm breast implants I could get some tigobitties to play with. I mean if I buy this awesome cue I will more than likely never play with it and it will just be a case queen and rarely see light. But new breasteses oh the fun I or I mean we could have the possibilities are endless. So I am really thinking hard about this and the pro's and con's of each,Sure I would have worlds of fun with those new pillows but if god forbid we ever got divorced well then some other hard leg will get to have all the fun with MY love bags, but if I buy my megga cue I will have it forever and it will never let me down or let anyone else play with it unless it gets my permission first. So what should I do I am really sitting on the fence with this dellima and would like to know A.Z.'s opinion.I would like to have both but that is just not $$ possible.Sorry for the long read, but I would just like to know what someone else would do in this sittuation,,Thanks,,:indecisive: :indecisive: :indecisive:

You could split the difference- you get a nice $2500 Southwest and your wife gets one really stylin' hooter.
If she only got one then she would have to walk sideways all the time;)

Not the 401k!

You should never take money from your 401k, unless it's an emergency. Personally I would never spend that kind of money for any cue, unless maybe if Jesus made it. As for the augmentations, if it's something you both want then go for it. Just be ready for all the new found attention she will be getting and try not to let your mind play tricks on you. Do you have a pool table at home? If not, that would be something I would look into.

i would probabaly look for an old Kers that was special or slightly rare with an LOA.it would never go down in value and they play great too.

Well, all though I'm sure you would be happy playing with either ;) normally you can not just withdraw money from your 401k. Usually it has to come in the form of a loan and has to be paid back. Have you checked with your plan administrator? Personally I would never borrow money from a 401k, but thats me.

Gotta say that this is about the worst money management decision I've heard in a while. You need an intervention.

Hmmm...Cue will increase in value over time and it won't sag:thumbup: . You can let people stare at your new cue without getting mad:thumbup: . Cue will never say it's too tired to be played with:thumbup: .

I heart BOOBS !!!

you can always buy an excellent custom cue for $500. no need for further fancies. atleast, when you had a bad game, you can go and still be happy at what to expect at home.

Seriously dood.......you are joking aren't you?? What is your 401k overflowing or something? And you're asking POOL PLAYERS most of whom gamble for a living or for fun, and that may have never heard of a 401k if this is a good financial decision?!!!

If you were an alcoholic and you just found $100 on the sidewalk would you go into the nearest bar to ask everyone what you should do with it?
Wow....I hope you are joking!! If you aren't, leave it where it is....buy a sporty sneaky for $150 used and save yourself the tax penalty of $500-$1000 or more. JMNSHO

there are to ways to do things and Rod I respect your very traditional ways of doing what you suggested-its sound advice for sure.

But,,,,,,,,,,,,,Here's what I did...

I had nothing groeing up started playing pool knew I couldnt ever work, and didnt play good enough to be a top player, so I started scraping round and made enough $$$ playing pol to live a life but not what I wanted, I took all my extra $$$ and put it into cues, some I flipped others I still have. I made more $$$ on those cues and missed alot of $$$ on Szams from $300-$3500.

Then i opened a square biz layed off pool kinda but not 100% did good for a while then went on my ass, was forced into BK, But I still had the cues just in case. I put them at a friens house for a year(i wasnt playing at all) filed BK did disclose them becuase i gave them to my friend and noted that on the BK filling and creditor thing-I didnt want to get into trouble. Later on I went and got them, found a gig after spending about 2 years in pool flipping cues, scraping around and going out on 7 day road trips playing. After my 2 year gig was up i was back in the pool room doing the same thing, still had the cue collection, found a new gig it lasted 11.5 years but about 2 years ago I saw it was falling to shit with the economy so I went out and spent ALOT on cues, see the pattern? Cues-the right cues arnt a bad place to have $$$, Retail McDermotts are the worst, but a $13,000 Bushka isnt.

my point is there are more than one road to get to the same place in the end, personally I dont subscibe in conventional wisdom because I dont want conventional results, I'm either gonna be stupid rich or living in a efficancy apt with 2 room mates eating frozen Pizza and hanging out in my VW van Ive owned over 20 years. There is nothing wrong about taking 401K $$$ and putting it into the RIGHT cue, but you have to do your homework, or yes its a bad idea. I dont want a perdictable life, nor o I want to get into the cue collection to pay my bills-I never have and probably wont.

just a different perspective-knot a knock

sorry for the bad typing my keyboard got mud in it today,
