I'm going to be heading to my birth place, Elizabeth NJ. And I'm hoping some of you guys can help me find the best pool halls to play at.

I'm only interested in the places with
(a). The most action
(b). The best [tight] equipment

Preferably as close to Elizabeth as possible.

Anyone know of any?

Well I guess you know West end billiards ain't there no more. There is a good room in Edison. Can't remember the name. There is Comet in Parsippany. What do I know I don't live there anymore either. Have Fun.

^^ I moved out of New Jersey when I was about 6 months old.... not to mention I wasn't playing pool until about 2 1/2 years ago. Lol...

I'll take a look on Google for those places.... anyone else have any recomendations?
Please don't tell me New Jersey is a pool-dead state... because that would ruin the whole trip!

I agree with Comet in Parsippany. I am not sure how far that is from Elizabeth, though.

AzBilliards Member Frankie White would be a great source to find out what's happening in the New Jersey pool scene.

Is there a Frankie in the house? :D

See, this is why you guys are the best... I ask for help, and you help. That works!

Ok, I play out of Comet. You have Comet, Rockaway Billiards, Crown Billiards, Castle Billiards and Willow Billiards. You are sure to find action in anyone of those.

Comet has the triple shim tables and the eqp is always in top notch condition. We can match up, I am a $25-$50 a set man. But there is bigger action here if you are looking..

You posted in another thread about Diamond Jim's, which also right off 287, before the bridge. How come you didn't mention that one? Great room, with excellent equipment, and action too. Comet is a great room too.

If you're willing to drive as far as Comet (maybe 30 mins-plus) you might also turn and go about the same distance in the other direction, across Staten Island, over the Verrazano and a couple of exits down the Belt to Skyline in Brooklyn.

If you're here by Sunday you might get a shot at Parica, Orcollo or Alcano in Blaze tourney. Or try Tues night tourney. Location's a little off the grid (there's parking!), but equipment's at least as good as at Amsterdam or Masters.

I didn't mention Diamond Jim's because he was asking about pool halls in NJ. Diamond Jim's is in Nanuet NY (I think).

Stop in or call Crown Billiards - Hamburg Turnpike - Pompton Lakes, NJ
973-835-9226, I'm sure you will be accommodated with whatever action you desire.

Hey!Hey! What is it!!

Comet is a great place to practice. Not much action but one of the best rooms I ever played out of. It is about 45 minutes from WestEnd Billiards. Comet though, is nothing like WestEnd was. I use to go w/ Robles to play in the weekly tourny there in Elizebeth. You can PM me and I will help you the best I could.

You're welcome Ken! I got to meet and talk to one of the other owners (Jerry?) when I was there to do a lesson at the end of June. He watched me teach my student, and then we had a great pool conversation. Really nice place! I'll be back. :D
