Website & Book
Just found this thread about my book and wanted to let any of you that are interested know that the website is back up and running for another year at the most.
RandyG was able to contact me and I did send him a book that he is currently reviewing. He's been working on the material in the book for over a month and a half now, so apparently he found that there is something to it, or he wouldn't be investing the amount of time on it that he is!
For those of you that helped Randy find me, Thank You.
Thanks to Randys interest and Seyberts placing an order for more books, I decided to go ahead and bring the website back and make the book available again.
Here's a little history about how the book came to be. First off let me say that when I started this I never intended to write a book, at least not one to sell to the public, I was originally doing it for my own use as a way to work out the details of some things that I had been noticing over all the years that I have played Pool. I would set up shots on my table exactly as I describe in the book and then test them out, when I had the shot right I would then diagram it on the computer.
Once I had finished working out all of the shots I then printed out 1 copy for myself and took it to a Pool Room to test the shots in real world conditions and under different types of lighting. As I was doing this several people would come by and inquire about what I was doing and where did I get the diagrams for the shots and where could they get a copy of it. This got me started thinking, well I could have a few books printed and take them to the Pool Room the next time I went and maybe sell 1 or 2 and at least make enough off of it to pay for the gas, as that turned out to be fairly successful I thought well why not do it right and put a real book together for them, so I came up with a "cover" and "intro & how to" text and had some books printed at a real print shop. Those went over pretty well also, so next came the website & the You Tube videos. As you can tell one thing just kind of led to another and got out of hand, again I never intended to share this with anyone when I started it.
Next came the Advertising, I was able to hook up with a company that does Live Streams of Pool Tournaments on the internet and then they are posted to that companies You Tube channel the next week. As the advertising took off, sales increased, however there was one thing I wasn't happy about with the book - since originally it was to be for my use only I didn't care about the quality of the graphics (the original graphics program I had sucked) but as sales increased I thought I needed to put out a more professional looking product, so after asking several people about what program I could get that would work on my old out of date computer, I was able to get a more professional quality graphics program and I used it to completely rebuild all of the Diagrams and Cover Art. I then had some new books printed at a new printer that offered better quality printing on better quality paper (also did a Limited Edition to sell as a way to promote the new improved version of the book) to be ready to advertise at the next big event, which was "The Super Billiards Expo" in March 2011.
My advertisers were aware of the work I had just recently put into upgrading the book and they were supposed to be sure and mention this and the LTD Edition Version also, but they screwed up and no mention was ever made of the new book or the LTD Edition, they also played the wrong commercial to advertise my book for 2 days of the event. As a result, sales were way less than anticipated, that combined with no further opportunities to advertise before the contract on the website expired and the cost to renew it for another year led me to shut it down, permanently I thought. And I was OK with that, someone said I sounded "Bitter", I may have been at the time, but I quickly got over it, after all I never planned on any of this happening anyway! (there's only 1 person I'm still PO'd with)
Sorry this is so long, but it's your fault for telling RandyG how to find me. LOL
