Help us Webcam the Shooters event.

Sounds like you ought ask Dan Tull if it ok to hold a tournament in his building before you progress any further. I doubt he would have an issue but out of courtesy & respect, it is the right thing to do. Table availability might be an issue.

For those that do not know yet, Big Nasty and I have set up a new website to focus on the action side of pool as well as the great players of our sport. We have already figured out how to podcast, we would like to take the next step.

The Action Report is going to be at the Shooters 10 Ball Ring Game Tournament in Olathe from the 18th through the 22nd. We are going to provide hourly chip counts for the players kind of like the IPT site did with the round robin results.

While we are there we would like to set up a webcam on a "Feature" table so people can see some of the action. The fly in the ointment is we do not know how. If anyone can provide some info on how to set a webcam or streaming video I would appreciate it.

I have looked at various options from the simple and inexpensive to the complex and expensive. The thing is I don't know what I don't know. We are looking for something that is affordable and easy to set up that we can get up and running fairly easily.

I thought about just setting up a webcam and inviting everyone who is interested into a Yahoo chat room to watch. As I said I am clueless, anyone who does this for a living or knows how, please help. :D :D

We want this to be free for anyone who wants to watch and for it to be of a good enough quality people do not start cussing after 30 seconds.

Is it possible??

Check out hogsbreath.com a saloon, bar in Key West, Fl. There live cameras are great. I tried to contact them and their web host to get info on their cameras and what the cost is to keep that running that live.
No response, it is like a secret. I have been trying to setup live for quite awhile and am still researching. I have a recommendations on a couple of cameras that work real well. I watched a Kenny Chesney concert there live one day. Unbelievable. However I believe some systems are limited to how many can watch at once w/o losing speed. That camera in Wash. is a joke a 0 or 1 fps. But great clarity.

The video looks great, and based on what I saw let me know if you want to play some for a couple hundred a game when you are in KC in a few weeks;) :D

I spoke with Dan Saturday and he said the Keith sent you some pictures of David so I did not follow up with scanning some of his pictures.

Take care and I look forward to meeting you in a few weeks, maybe we can play some cheap one pocket before the big tournament starts.

As you can tell from the video I don't play one pocket, however, my buddy Shan....er....Bob...yeah thats it...Bob....he is an APA 4 and he don't play so good and he has a little trouble hearing sometimes, but he loves to bet high. I might put him in the box. :D :D :D

I recieved the pictures from JAM and they will work great. I look forward to the event, I think it is going to be something special and it will be kind of cool to be able to say "I was at the first one"

JCIN,
Video is good enough for me to watch (I couldn't get any audio on this computer). Quality would probably even be better if you didn't have those crappy open windows in the background (makes playing in the afternoon a PAIN at Chalkies).

Whoever that big guy was that was playing Grady should DEFINITELY be playing more pool (...perhaps at Betmore's Basement if he ever quits vacationing, and gets back to town....).
Willie, while I enjoy nothing more than playing in the opulent billiards paradise that is Betmore's Basement, it doesn't really help my game because all I ever do is sit in the chair and watch you run out. :D

I asked Shane if he was going to match up with anyone and he said it did not look like anything was going to happen. Then I asked him if he played one pocket and he said he did not play much one pocket, I was thinking some of the stake horses might put James Walden in the box playing one pocket. I am a very below average player and just hoping to see some of the big boys light it up for some high dollar action.

Shane, very smartly in my opinion, has kind of slowed down on the action and really concentrated on playing well in tournaments he attends. The results speak for themselves.

I've seen Shane match up playing one pocket one time. He plays one pocket like most champions who don't play one pocket,....he don't know all the moves but is a threat to go 8 and out from anywhere.

I think if the stars align and the moon is right, you might see James and Shane get together in Olathe. Probably before or after the ring game event, it will NOT be playing one pocket.

I watched Shane practice for about two hours on the Diamond table at Olathe and it was scary how much it reminded me of watching James practice in the 90s when I lived in OKC. They both practice getting out and executing tough shots and do not spend a lot of energy trying to impress the on lookers with six rail shape and ultra hard shots that no one would ever shoot for the cash. It was refreshing to see someone working so hard on their game when they could have been acting like a bit shot.

Streaming a webcam is too much of a pain. Plus I have yet to see one I will watch for more than a minute.
Did you check out camstreams.com? There is alot of people running very high def and it really is pretty simple to run. Although I don't have an account I have read the setup instructions and its looks pretty straightforward.
