Hercek for Sale

Deno, Nice to see you on here. Nice cue... I know that is going to be tuff to let go regardless of price.

^ great person to deal with. Honest people seem to be a rarity anymore.

I am selling one of my Hercek cues:

The Buy it Now price is $4500 but I have tried the newer Ebay option of having people submit their best offers. If you are interested, please submit your best offer through the Ebay system. Offers between $3500 and the BIN price will be taken very seriously.

This is a VERY nice looking cue Deno. Joel doesn't make a whole bunch of cocobolo cues and I would THINK it should be scarfed up quickly.

Thanks all for the replies and welcoming words. I finally bought a lathe after thirteen or so years being away from wood turning. So to help defray the expense of the lathe, I decided to let one of my Hercek cues go. I think someone will be happy to have it in their collection.

I would be thrilled to have it in my collection, only I don't have $4500.... :(

Same here. Had I not ordered the 5 cues I have on order then I would have been able to afford it...lol. Live and learn I guess.

Well the $4500 is what I think it is worth. However, I only expect to get offers of between $3500-$4000. I am finding that the newer Ebay alternative to have people offer their best offers has caused some confusion. If someone out there fell in love with the cue and had to have it, they would probably expect to pay a premium for it and "Buy it Now," as I have done a few times in the past. However, someone who just really likes the cue but wants to have a Hercek might make an offer of what the cue is worth to him or her...I mean, different cues have different values to different people. That's why I thought trying the best offer system might be interesting.

$4500 wow.i figure it is worth $3200-$3400
Well, it's not the stock market so it is a little more subjective. I think it's street value is a little more than your quoted range, but maybe not by very much. I have already turned down some offers (before listing it) on the lower side of your range. I think I would look seriously at any decent offers of $3500+ and consider who it would be going to for the offer. So I don't think we are far off in street value. Some guy was nice enough to offer me $1400 for it through ebay. At least I didn't have to think much about that one...

That cue is nuts! I hope to be able to afford something along those lines when my name comes up!

iconcue's got a few that are the NUTZ......

Seriously, Joel's a super hot cuemaker right now....they are tough to get your hands on period. Definitely worth puttin' one up if you get the chance.

Welcome to AZ Deno.
It's auction time! I'll give you $1500 and a slightly used cube of Masters. ;)
Welcome to AZ Deno, I hope you find a buyer soon. Check out the "Ask The Cuemaker" section it is cool. By your comment about buying a lathe, are you going to start making cues? How much did you learn while you worked for Joey Gold?

That looks similar to the one I listed on Ebay a few weeks ago.

Yours is a little more rare though as Joel doesn't seem to do as many cocobolo cues. And who doesn't like cocobolo to begin with?

On a whim I was ready to part with mine cheap, but although there were about 50 people watching it no bids were placed. I decided to end it with about two days left.

It seems that summer sales are slow but hopefully you'll get a good offer, it is certainly worth top dollar.

I plan to one day start making a very limited number of cues annually...but not for a few years, and probably as a hobby only. I learned a lot working for Joe, just about the whole process. However, if and when I ever get around to making cues, they will probably be spliced rather than the A-joint design...so I will have to learn a lot more about that aspect of cue construction. Also, I sucked at sanding and polishing finishes, so I will have to learn some skills to handle that. I would like to do mostly flame splices (what you guys call butterfly cues) and maybe points, but probably not much of the traditional looking stuff. I don't know. Mostly, I just want to turn wood again and make odd things like percussion whistles, magic wands, candle stick holders, little cannisters, etc., and if it turns out that making cues appeals to me again, I will do more of that. I know that's not much of an answer...but it's where I am at right now. :)

I saw your auction and liked that cue very much. I wondered why it ended early. People are now starting to wait until the last moment to bid and it is sort of annoying...but what can you do? Anyway, if nobody makes a reasonable offer I will happily keep it. I am not really happy to see it go, despite being motivated to sell it.
