Hey All Of You Az Lurkers - Here's Your Chance...

When God made WORKERS I thought he said LURKERS and said ,"Make me a good one"!

I hope to meet some of you folks next week at the Mosconi Cup.

There's a fairly good contingent of us coming from the KC area.

I'm not going for this, Will.
If you're a lurker, how come I know you go absolutely insane when you see a box cue?

But I do wish you posted more

Hi, I'm Greg. Live in central Jersey. Home room is Sandcastle Billiards in Edison, but don't shoot much on 9 foot tables because of back issues & the fact I'm a horrible D class 9 ball player.

I do shoot in the UPA and mostly play on the bar box where I shoot pretty good. I love 8 ball and I love collecting cues,

I've been around for 15 or so years and met many pros & gamblers along the way. I love the sport and anything associated with it. My knowledge of the game far out seeds my game.

All the cues I have listed in my signature I do own. 10-12 years ago I also had a large collection of cues but sold when I started having bad back issues. Got back into the game 3 years ago when back was doing ok, but now it's severely bad again. Do continue to play in the UPA though, shooting only when it is a must.

So far, I'd say... You take the cake for a ol school lurker.
Nice silence!

I used to frequently answer posts in the Action Room and mostly read the main forum. Now I just read. Not worth all of the BS from a few internet warriors.

Keep swingin it kickinchicken

Hello, My name is Chase. I am a tacoma WA local. I've been reading on this board since i was about 19. Im 26 now and just joined last week lol. If im not playing pool or disc golf im usually backpacking. Favorite game is 10 ball otherwise im playing locals in straight 8 or bca. I'll play 9 ball and apa but dislike both.

Question I have for the guys would be what are your favorite system reads and what books did you find improve your physical and mental game most?

I lurked for three years before I joined...the news was far more current than waiting for
a magazine.

Books?....start with anything by Robert Byrne or George Fels.

Systems?....a lot of them remind me of the old Vegas joke.....
..."System working well, send money."

Ok!

Hey, names Dave.
Started playing close to 50 years ago w/my Dad (I'm 58 now). Have played in spurts all my life. In High school we had like 6 9 footers in what we called the commons. Teachers used to come there to look for me when I was absent. :p Played mostly 14-1 back then and got fairly good for that age.
Joined USMC and played on bad tables in the barracks and tried to find decent places off base to shoot on both coasts. Watched the Miz in a 9 ball tourney in New London, CT. in '78 or '79.
Got out and played local leagues for 10 years or so, then got married (2nd time), had a couple kids & only played occasionally till a few years ago. Found a couple of places recently with Diamond tables close by and its really perked my interest to improve greatly.
Have lurked various forums since '95 or '96 and watched several crash and burn over the years. Having seen what I have, I don't post much, tend to kill threads I do post on, but love to read the intelligent/enlightening stuff you can find. Want to thank all who do contribute to the great info here!

Dave

for the mental game: "The Pleasures Of Small Motions; Mastering the Mental Game of Pocket Billiards " is a great book to read.

Very nice, when I am not building Cues, I am out hiking as well. I try to do 10-12 milers any time I take a day off, living in Salem, I enjoy the Cascade Mountains like you do up North. I am 52 next month, twice your age. Back in 91 I climbed Mt Whitney in a day, its the tallest in the lower 48, 23 miles and 7500' elevation gain.

I was also a lurker for a few years AND? Yes I admit, I used to play Disc Golf, it's an awesome game and I will be playing again.

Keep up the good times, Dave.

i think everyone starts out the same way. they come to the best online billiard community to see discussions about pool related events or to check out some cues and boom you get hooked. i looked at thousands of cues and discussions before creating a screen name and joining the community. the freedom that we have here on az is great. to be able to buy/sell/ trade/ gamble /discuss anything we want is amazing. once you dip your toes in it would be hard not to fully engage the community. for the most part my time on az has been great and i have never regretted leaving my lurker status behind. warm welcomes to all new and not so new members

Thats awesome. This year was my first time leaving washington state my entire life. I just did a trip from seattle to crater lake, yosemite, mt whitney summit, death valley and zion. I summited rainier for the first time this summer with a group, then the next week i solo'd it and stayed the night under the crater rim on the summit! Now im just back home saving for another adventure and spending my dark washington days playing pool :)

You're in a great spot for hiking with the columbia river gorge and Mt hood right there. Im always down for an outing with new friends if you're ever interested. Here are a few photos of my adventures this this year. Have a good one!

I gotta feeling by your AZ name that you shoot straight...and you play snooker.

...but you live around some of the worst karaoke performers in history.

I used to play a fair amount in 88-89, haven't so much since. Life's been in the way, so I come on here to lurk and learn. Maybe one day I can get back to it, but until then, I will lurk along and learn as much as I can from the people in the know here.

Thanks for letting me ride along.

Scott here - log on often but seldom say anything.

Played the UK 8-ball game a number of years before moving to the US 3 years ago. play in houston most days during lunch break in Bogies... more often than not will play 1 pocket now and tend to favor it over rotation. not a great player but hold my own usually against the regulars.
Got my own table at home 9ft GC 1, but honestly never play it as son at home sleeps in the room next to it and he takes up all my time when i am at home.

Will be in Vegas for the Mosconi again this year looking for another European win :-P
