Hey Mr. Wilson!

I'm here through Derby simply because of my involvement with the private room. After that, there will be one less "narcissistic wanna be groupie" around here.

Happy freaking new yr everyone.

Timberly,
Stay the course. When going gets tough the tough will get going.
None of these thorns should deter you visiting this place.

Well IMHO I think Purdman has went through some changes in the last few months in the way he handles himself. If I am not mistaken he apologized for some things a while back and has chosen to to represent himself in a different manner.....SOOOO that could be why he seems like he has flip flopped, because he has, but not in a Hypocratic way. He simply has changed his way of posting....and again I may be totally off or confusing him with someone else :) :)

But that is the way it looks to me. :) :)

HAVE A GOOD NEW YEAR WATCHEZ :)

It's just a chemical reaction to quitting the nicotine, imho. That drug is more powerful than herion. Give him about four years clean and he'll be himself again.

That's a nice way to put a spin on it. lol

"We are rapidly becoming a nation that is polarized along every possible line: gay vs. straight, feminist vs. conservative, pro-choice vs. anti-choice...in a nation of laws we have started to resort to acts of terror on large and small scales on either side of the spectrum. For two hundred years we prided ourselves on the idea -- sometimes flawed, and with occasional interruptions -- that we solved our problems at the ballot box, not with bullets or truncheons or muggings or firebombings. But now more and more both sides are frozen in concrete, opposing opinions are no longer tolerated or are proof of disloyalty or stupidity or cupidity or bigotry or immorality, people are reduced to stereotypes and jingo-isms, everybody's demonized and nobody listens. We don't talk with each other, we yell AT each other. We are two steps away from madness and one step away from Beirut." -- J. Michael Straczynski (creator of Babylon 5), January 23, 1995

It is a myth to think that intolerance is a relatively new thing. After the colonization this land never tolerated the disent. Following are some of the examples of intolerance of disent. There are many more and I do not want to take too much space here:
1) Anne hutchinson tried in 1637-38 on chrages of ``Traducing the ministers and their ministry`` and hersey and the result was that she was banished from the colony and excommunicated from the church of Boston.

2) John peter Zenger though found not guilty was tried in 1735 on charges of committing seditios libel for criticizing the royal governor of the colony of New york

3) Boston massacre on March 5,1770

4) Seargent thomas Hickery court-marshalled and hanged in 1776 on charges of mutiny and sediton

So there really has not been any increase in intolerance.Intolerance has been there for centuries.

Whether you participate in this forum or not is not the issue, the issue really is, would you want to participate if Don was not giving you a hard time? If the answer to that is yes then you should stay. Don't let someone run you out of here. If you want to leave just because you need a break, then by all means take off. Of course you will do what you will but this is just a suggestion from me. My recollection of you as a poster is a very positive recollection. I'm sure this board would suffer your departure.

Take care, Rickw
Thank you for the kind words, they're appreciated more than you know. LOL, I've suffered worse than Don. I'm not losing any sleep over him nor am I allowing him to run me off. (No one person, esp on here, has that kind of control over me) I've simply pointed out the absurdity of his actions & accusations against me that are based on nothing.

I hadnt seen the above posts, as I cant get to all the post I was just speaking of something I had seen in his posts a while back.

Timberly I hope you dont think I was taking up for Purdman over you as that wasnt the case, either way ( between the two of you ) I hadnt seen all the posts you put up there and had no Idea of the things between you and him really, I was more or less tossing out a Possibility.

NOW TIMBERLY as for the not posting so much, dont do tha,t as I for one enjoy your posts, and you go out of your way to help people, I know you did for me once when I first started here....I was needing an answer and you searched and found me the info and PMd me the link ( it was also my first PM ) SO dont take away from this board by not posting....
I didn't take your post as taking up for him over me and I'm not asking anyone to take sides in a disagreement that was conjured up in his own mind. Like yourself, I don't read everything that goes on here and many times find out things after the fact. Knowing that most might've missed the exchange & in an effort to prove how ridiculous and out of the blue it was, I posted the exchange.

As for my not being around very much after Derby... there's a culmination of people and reasons why. AZ is kind of like a party... if your friends (az members) invited you to a party, but you knew that the host (Mike & Dave) didn't want you there, would you go? I went to the party and while I wasn't kicked out of the party, they let me know they didn't like my being there. I promised that after Derby (I was in the middle of running the raffle) I would limit my participation here.

Since then, there have been a few people here that along the way have just made that decision much easier. Don is only one of them, he's not alone. I've put in a lot of time here supporting this site, being as helpful as I can be (Brickman, thank you for not only remembering but for sharing the story of my helping you out.) but also being true to myself by being up front and honest. In return I get called a groupie, troublemaker, liar, and given a 2nd strike (I don't argue my 1st strike.). Not because I broke any of the posted rules but because I disagreed with the way the moderator publicly calls people out in a smart alleck tone instead of handling situations in private.

To stay on topic of the thread... Some think Dave has done a great job. LOL, some of the people in this thread and the sticky thread that are praising Dave were also ones giving him a hard time when it was someone they liked getting the boot. After going back through some older threads, I've found that there's a lot of flip floppers on this forum. I'm not one of them. My story is the same now as it ever was.... Being a mod sucks & I never said it was easy. What I have said and still believe is that Dave makes things much more difficult on himself by the way he handles himself. Instead of helping diffuse a situation and talking to people in PM's, he calls them out in the middle of a heated discussion to publicly chastise them in order to embarrass them. All this accomplishes is more anger by the involved parties and it makes him appear to be on a power trip. He's human and he makes mistakes... if he could admit as such, he would also catch less heat. IMO, after he publicly called Jimbo out (who didn't break a rule in the post that Wilson quoted) it was quickly pointed out that he was making a bad decision but he couldn't back down at that point. That's why Jimbo got a temp ban & not a permanent ban. Had he handled things in private, none of this current fiasco and a lot of past fiasco's would not have happened.

I'm all for a moderated forum... all it takes is one look at RSB or Socal to figure out why. I'm also of the belief that a moderator should handle things in private. Using authority to publicly embarrass people is not the way to keep control of the board as has been proven. In the sticky thread Dave mentioned something about it was impossible to not like one person more than the other. I agree with that wholeheartedly. The difference lies in whether someone can overcome their dislike for someone and be fair or not. IMO, that's what it takes to be a good moderator. I wear my heart on my sleeve, I couldn't do it.... but I also didn't apply for it. The way Dave moderates on here... his style... I could do that. A lot of folks on here could "moderate" like that. I don't think that's an effective way to moderate so I didn't raise my hand for the job. Just like in my personal life, I can act, but I'm not good at it so I'm not going to go apply for acting jobs. Timberly,

This last post by you is more than enough evidence that you are and should be an asset to this forum. Perhaps Mike and Dave will recognize that after reading your last post and will send you a positive PM asking you to stick around. Whatever the case is, I can only say again that I've always enjoyed reading your posts. You have a fan in me at least!

I never said it was a new thought.... :)

I like the quote and thought it was timely in this case.

Nice to see someone reading and thinking. ;)

Happy New Year!

Ms Timberly

I think it is about time to put an end to this drama. I have met you and did not find you particularly friendly. Maybe I was having a bad day when I saw the post about ; why can't I pay when I get there, or "You won't be able to play nor your friend" or something to that effect. The exclusionary stuff that seemed to leave people out. Perhaps this was wrongful thinking on my part. You do not have to explain or prove anything to me with a lengthy post. I apologize for bringing my frustrations on the forum and making mean spirited post towards you. Have a great time at the DCC and have a Happy and Wonderful New Year.

To the rest of you folks, I have found your responces interesting to say the least. Happy New Year To All.

Alright, this is your first Warning and now I am keeping a very close eye on you. If there is anymore of this type of talk, you will get a week off.

It always amazes me that the people that always have to state publicly over and over again their 'love of jesus' are the ones that have the least love and have numerous holes in their character.

Purdman crossed the line right here and also showed his 8th grade argument mentality--
