"Hi Sarah!!! Wassup?!!!"

Sarah,,,keep us posted on where you'll be shooting,,,I've been out of the loop for a while (since closing my place in April, '05),,,haven't had time to read and post on AZ like I did,,,sleeping, eating, & watching TV is time consuming, LOL (did I mention sleeping, zzzzzzZZZzzzzZZZzzz !.............jflan

F8it,

Hmmm questions... Here we go... Well... to keep things a little fun I was wondering what kind of goodies you keep inside of your cue case pouch! Hope no one asked you this before... what kind (brand, make, model) of tip maintenance tools and stuff do you use or prefer? Oh and tips too!!!

In my case I have a Barnhart playing cue that weighs 18 oz. and a Barnhart break/jump cue that weighs 18.5 oz. I use a Predator Z shaft with a medium Moori tip for my playing cue. My break cue is just a regular Barnhart shaft with a medium Moori tip. I also have a Barnhart jump cue. As far as tip tools I have an Ultimate Tip Tool and another scuffer, some microburnishing strips, a Q-whiz pad, and thats about it. Otherwise I just have a bunch of junk in my case. Oh and my case is Jack Justis case.

Also, other "tools of the trade" I'm wondering about are little tid bits of info., technique(s) , advice, etc,

I have learned alot from other players. It is hard for me to put into words though. I do things based on feel and can't explain them very well. I would say be sure to pay close attention to everything when you are playing or watching a good player. You can see how they play their patterns and see different shots. Otherwise, I would say be sure to realize the importance of pre-shot routines. Be sure to make up your mind and be set on what you are doing before you get down to shoot. Indecision can kill you. Also, remember that no matter who you are playing, world champion or average joe, treat them with the same respect. And if you are playing a good player, remember they are human and make mistakes. You just have to be able to capitalize on their mistakes.

Another thing I am interested is how you handle your dietary needs?

Well, anyone that has seen me eat can answer this question. I have an insulin pump so I don't have to be as careful as I used to when it comes to eating. I used to have to watch very carefully what I eat and drink. Now I have some freedom. I eat like any other person....probably more than any other person. :) I would cook for myself maybe...but it helps to know how to cook!

Sarah likes cheeseburgers. I am an eyewitness.

No lying there Wally. That was a monster burger too. But if I remember correctly someone visited the Burger Barge on more than one ocassion that trip??

That's beauty, silly.

Beauty, sanity.....what's the difference??

Jack, sorry to hear about your business. Sleeping isn't such a bad thing...I'm a champ when it comes to sleeping. :) As for my schedule, right now the only things for sure are the WPBA U.S. Open the second week of October in Albuquerque, NM. Then the Fall Follies ring game and tournament at Southern Billiards in Starkville, MS. Then on to the WPBA Nationals the second week of November in Lincoln City, OR. Oh and the Derby City Classic in January.

Ooops. Guilty as charged. It was way better than the casino food though.

I caught part of the final on ESPN over the weekend and there was a commercial for Par-A-Dice and they were saying how good their food is

the Derby City Classic in January.

We may see you there. Kathy wants to go and it's a short drive. I warned her that it was pretty wild and crazy compared to a WPBA tourney.

I think they were stretching it a bit talking about good food at the Casino. But hey, the burgers down the road are awesome!

Derby City...wild??? Never. How dare you say something like that! Honestly, I think it will be an eye-opening experience for her, but hey it is getting to watch the best players in the world. Plus, I will be there can't miss hanging with me!! haha, just kidding.

Take care,
Sarah

Okay, I won't *tell* anyone. I figured you did when Sarah was texting me to see if I'd fallen off the face of the earth yet. I can honestly say :o that I haven't, YET. Heh. I may be sick, but I can scrounge up the energy to share my daily sarcasm dosage with everyone, right? (:

Take care, before this message gets all sweet and mooshy,

Dea

Jeez Sarah!!! Keep that up and you're gonna blow up your pump!!! Lol!!! Just kiddin'!!! It's fantastic there are devices like this around today! I've seen first hand how it's a hassle keeping track of blood sugar levels. :( Seems like you love food like me.. Please be careful and stay disciplined in your eating habits!!!!! I know you don't eat like that all the time but I can understand how tough it is eating right when you're on the road/tour.

Thanks for giving us the 411 on all the stuff you have!!! :) I like and use the Ultimate Tool too, but I mostly use a Lou Butera Tip Tapper and roll my tip on it when it needs a scuffing and minor shaping. A great So. CA player named Larry Bohn showed me this method years ago and it works wonderfully!!! Too bad 'ol Larry doesn't play anymore... :( Such a fine player to watch...

Hmm... everyone seems to be using the medium Moori's I guess I'll have to try them. I still use La Pro's but noticed the quality isn't what they used to be (mushroom all the time!!!). I understand they're using water buffalo skins rather than steer hide which may be the reason.

Are you a real party animal Sarah?!!! All these posters saying you're anything but normal has me a little concerned. ;) What kind of music are you into? Are you freaky?! Lol!!! Sorry 'bout that! :p

Thanks too for the insight into what you've learned on the Tour. I don't know how many times I've lost games from still being indecisive after getting down to shoot!!! :o You mentioned pre-shot routine.... what is your pre-shot routine?

Tryin' to keep this short and sweet... Thanks again for the awesome replies!!! :D Keep in dead punch and take it easy on 'dem Cheese Burgers!!! ;)

Errr...maybe not.[/QUOTE

Hey!!! Easy, easy Landshark!!! Seriously, I was only kiddin' and now I regret sayin' it 'cause I'm gettin' flamed for trying to ad a little levity to my otherwise boring post(s)!!! SHEESH!!! I only said that cause so many of you guys were jokin' 'bout Sarah being anything but normal.

I sincerely apologize if I offended you Sarah. :o I was honestly just goofing around. I have the utmost respect for ALL players, amatuer or professional and this obviously includes Ms./Mrs. Rousey!!!

F8it,

I don't think I'll be blowing my pump up. It's really nice to have freedom that I didn't have before that is for sure. I am very thankful for technology and medical advancements.

The Moori tips are more consistant than Le Pro. I think that is the case with any layered tips. I used Le Pro tips for years and then by accident I tried out a Moori. I have been using it ever since. They can be kind of expensive, but they will last quite awhile unless you are playing long sessions every single day.

Am I a party animal?? Good question. I like to have fun sometimes. Normal isn't a good thing. Everyone has different quirks that set them apart from others. I like every kind of music. And am I freaky.....haha, wouldn't you like to know. :) just kidding.

Pre-shot routine, mine is pretty general. Look around and look for obstacles and find a pattern. Then make sure I decide what is going to happen and how to go about making the shot. A few air practice strokes, then step into the shot. I try to always take at least three practice strokes no matter how tough or easy the shot.

Dea, It's good to have you back. I hope you are doing ok. Believe it or not Landshark really did miss you. I guess I did too. :)

Landshark, I think that steak house you are talking about is called Texas Roadhouse...same thing as Logan's pretty much. I just know up there they don't have Logan's.

Oh and F8it...you didn't offend anyone and no one was flaming you. Pretty much anything goes here. We all realize you are just having a little fun and that is fine. Oh and settle down with using the Mrs. prefix there. I'm way too young for that and way too single...haha.

Take care,
Sarah

Thanks Sarah! Whew I thought I was really in the dawg house when I made that comment!!! I sometimes don't think before I think and say things that may not be very appropriate... It comes out naturally and then I say, "Uh Oh.."!!! I've also been told I have a dry sense of humor @ times and people who don't know me can take it the wrong way. It's even worse when I express it in the written word! Oh, btw and you can quote me on this "The next Cheese Burger is on me and with absolutely NO strings attached!!!"

I'm very happy that pump is working great for you. I know someone who could definitely use one and will recommend it to him. Are they very expensive and/or covered by H. Insurance?

My first experience with Moori's were when they were new to the market. The first runs (early '90's I think) had problems... constant miscues caused when the tips wore down to the glue or the glue being absorbed by the leather and penentrating below the tip's surface. They miscued like the dickens!!! Pro players even complained about them and quit using them. Moori changed the adhesive recipe and the miscues stopped.

Have you tried the Triangle tips at all? I liked these too but noticed they start to disintegrate... i.e. the tip would separate in layers even though it's 1 stamped out piece of leather. Aside from that they played great imo (but then again I'm a nobody!).

Thanks for the letting me know your pre shot routine!!! I really should break down my table approach and movements so that I can consistently visualize it and repeat it in my mind and body.

Well... freaky can be a good thing but I actually prefer goofy!!! :D

Oh, sorry 'bout the Mrs. thing!!! I didn't know for sure if you were hitched or not. Good to know you're still available! Lol!!! Here I go again!!! I've been so careful re-reading this it's taking me forever!!! You need not worry though... women intimidate me!!!

Take care and have a fantastic weekend!!! :)

Well, you fit in. Myself and most of the others here are quite good at being sarcastic, some more than others.

As for the pump, the majority of mine was covered by health insurance. My supplies are almost 100% covered by insurance. If your friend is without insurance it would be very costly. I would definitely say it is worth the cost though. It took me awhile to get over the vanity of it all. Most people don't even notice it so it isn't as bad as I thought it would be to have the pump. I highly recommend it to anyone with diabetes.

I have never tried the Triangle tips. I have only used Le Pro, Talisman and Moori. There are problems when you get in between layers. There are miscues when that happens, but it is easy to fix.

Take care,
Sarah

Thanks Sarah!!! Well... I'm not exactly sure if my friend has health Insurance aside from medicare... he's up there in age as well. I'll be sure to tell him about this the next time I see him. ;)

Yeah, I know what you mean about being self conscious wearing something like that. Then again so many people are walkin' round with all sorts of things strapped, hooked, snapped on them most wouldn't (myself for that matter)wouldn't even notice.

I so loved the Le Pro's.... :( Well... that's it.. I'm going to try a med Moori tip next time!!! Guess I'm still old fashioned and stubborn, but I will definitely try them!!!

Got another technique question...How do you practice your mechanics in terms of keeping the back end of the cue perfectly straight and in line with the forearm/shaft of the cue. In other words you can see that the front of your shaft is in line with your shot, but what about the butt end? Sounds dumb but a late great pool coach (Hal Mix) said the good players "Know" that the back end of the cue stick is in line with front part of the cue.

I really worry about my wrist/hand being perpendicular with my elbow and keeping them in line (like yours!!!). Also, "knowing" the back end of your cue is line with the front of the shaft is very important but tough to "feel". Just thought I'd throw this at yah' and see what you think about this (nonsense?).

Thx yet again Sarah, you're an Angel!!! :) Best wishes and regards!!!

IMO, F8it needs to fill one out...

...F8it...fill this out and post back here. I'll need a pic of you and your dad in order to process the application. You seem to be a good contender thus far....I mean two people that like food are hard to come by. :D However, I think Goofy posts on the Disney forum....

....just fill out the application and I'll let you know. Don't Kenny Wilson out on me though. (FWIW, he could have won if he would have FULLY particpated and not kissed Gremlin's bum. After all his avatar shows off dem muscles....whoo-hoo!! :p )
