I could take a piece of that action, but can't do the whole thing. The wife would beat me until there was nothin left to bury but bloody toenails.

Maybe we should get 10 AZ members to put in $100 each...

Sounds like you guys both have a good idea here. John, it may be easier to find 10 people who want to buy 5% of your winnings for $100 than one person who wants to buy 50% for $1000.

Why dont you talk to the boys at Oakley and see if they wouldn't mind sponsoring a Champion player? They make very nice clothes that are close to the style I see you in all the time anyway, and they would probably get you some duds and foot the expenses or at least part of them.

We've got 5 people so far... anyone else? We can paypal it to John or whatever...

Looks like we are close to 10 people.

I don't think John would want to deal with 10 individual people. I think it would be much better if we got together and John had to deal with just one person. Everybody send the money to the one person and that person send John the full $1k. This person would most likely need to send the money to John before collecting the money from all the other players. If we get 10 and John agrees, I would volunteer to be the front man if the majority is willing to paypal the money to me right away. If several people need to send checks, somebody else would have to volunteer (I trust you guys, but my wife would not. pretty clear who is wearing the pants in my family, huh?)

I cant believe that 10 people are talking about chopping this 10 different ways!!! Lets say that 10 people put up the $100 each.....if John plays his heart out and wins say $10,000.....thats $1000 each. What cut are each of you gonna give John? Minus expenses, and a fair cut (by fair I mean he should get half the winnings since he is the one playing) you would all get about $350 each. No offense to John, he is a great player and I hope he gets someone to help him out. He has proven in the past that he will fight hard for the money, but chopping it 10 ways.....thats ruff. If I had the $1000 to put up, I would. JMO.

If this doesn’t tell us what shape professional pool is in nothing will. Here’s a guy, John Schmidt that just won the U.S Open and has run over 400 balls. He looks and talks well on camera. He dresses well and as far as I’ve seen or heard acts like a professional at all times; yet he can’t get a sponsor. That’s pitiful.

I think we all should stop buying production cues, cases, and other billiard-related stuff from companies that don’t sponsor at least two players. Johnnyt

I'm enjoying watching this shake out. The math's easy enough. John gets the same that he'd get if he were backed by one person, and the other share gets divided by 10. The hard part might be that John would need to hang around and BS with 10 hacks instead of just one!:D

For me, really, it is not about the money, but if you read his original post, he is offering 50% of winnings, so he would take $5k if he won $10k.

We just want to help him out because he is a stand-up guy and balls-out player... plus it would be fun to be in the action, even if it is for a small cut.
