Highest break speed?

Not sure if you were asking from that list or answering, but Yes LOL

I think if you don't get to near 30, it is not one of the top hitters. That break contest at DCC seems a bit weak to me aside from Charlie who hit 28.
I speculate that could be because the top players spend more time working on accuracy than speed. Golf long drive contest would be an appropriate analogy. And I don't favorite analogy šŸ˜‰.

I did a break test at a local pool room using a radar gun I have from my baseball coaching days.
Out of a >dozen players tested that day that included myself, the highest speed was 28 mph and
my own was 20 mph. The harder I hit the cue ball, the speed improvement was minuscule and
surprisingly it actually got lower. I experimented with different weight cues and found for myself,
18-19 ozs produced the best results for speed versus 21-22 oz. cues that made more break noise.

I would think that 35-36mph is about top anyone can achieve at this time. A very good friend of mine would often just be given a break cue (or whatever the prize was) to not compete in the break contest, because if they posted his break speed, very few people would even try to beat it. šŸ™‚

I've noticed most of them seem to get a lot of pace with very little movement. I don't know if they can just snap their arm that much faster than me or if there's something subtle I'm missing. My best is about 18 and I almost gave myself a hernia. I haven't clocked my speed in a while but I seem to be doing well for me at maybe 16 mph. I should probably switch to kilometers per hour.

During that contest, it was mentioned that the speeds would be slower because they were on the Bigfoot table. During the Banks Tournament, Bryant's breaks were noticeably more powerful than the other competitors.

Odd they were doing it on a 10 footer vs the 9, but the speeds are not likely to be that much slower on the extra distance to the rack. Dr Dave can probably calculate exactly how much lower they would be, but if it's even 1mph difference I would be suprized.
