holly wood?

have any of you ever used holly wood for a handle? would you recommend using holly for that part of the cue? please, your thoughts on the matter.

I never have but you certainly could if you wanted to. It would need to be cored for sure as Holly likes to move around.

Yea, I've heard that about her
But seriously, it's also very light and soft. It is a good wood for inlay, as it looks alot like ivory.

If I was going to use Holly for a handle I would have it impregnated first. Holly likes to move and it also takes on the other colors of woods in the cue. even with air sanding it still discolors.

ebony and ivory

was the look i was going for so i used cored holly for handle and ebony for buttcap and forearm. looks great, plays great. chuck

Impregnated holly would hit like kaka I think.
Already soft then dipped on polymer?
I'd core it with 7/8 rosewood.

I have used holly for a forearm. It turned out very nicely and has a quality hit. The butt sleeve has holly points in the Cocobolo. And the forearm has some beautiful long Cocobolo points. Looks like IVORY don't you think?

i love the look of holly, very nice. brian king made me a cue with six holly points, they looked like ivory. but i'm so cue crazy that i sold the cue to get another one i liked. i was sick!
