I've got a friend here at Derby that won two cues in a raffle. He doesn't need them and is going to sell them here but doesn't want to get taken advantage of. A "friend" of his offered him $600 for both.

The Schon (with one shaft) retails for $1180 and the Omega (with 2 shafts) for $400. I told him that I would post them on here and ask you guys to look at them and tell me, what would you pay for these?

He's not selling them on here so please don't PM me about it. He'll be selling them here. You guys wheel & deal all the time and I was hoping you could help give us a rough estimate of a fair price??

Sorry for the bad pics but it was the best that I could do at this time.

Thanks,
Timberly

(1st two are the Omega, next two are of the Schon)

HEY! I'd tell your buddy to check into something I was told when I entered that raffle...

I, too, had no use for either of those cues...BUT...the woman who was raffling them told me that I could also return them to the Omega booth and pick up anything I wanted for the same value! He may find something in there that he likes for that kind of money ($1500)!!!

Or at least he could pick up something that would sell a heck of a lot faster...

Go inquire at the Omega booth! And if they say that's not true...I'm filing a complaint for false advertising!!!

Take the Ca$h

IMHO, unless your pal is a cue retailer....then I would take the $$$

The market is a little soft and unless your friend has another market for the cues I would say $600 is a little less than fair but, it's just like finding the money -- right ;)

Timberly,Its none of my business but i think he should get a bit more than that for them.He might want to let one of the dealers sell it for him if he is staying until the end of the tournament.M.S.

Oh, definitely. $600 is way too low. But I don't think its a question of "taking advantage of" -- I'm pretty sure they both know that the offer is low?? It's just whether he wants that money now or rather wait for more...

I'd say either try that trading at the booth like I said, or just hold on to the cues and sell them later when the market is better...

I doubt he's hurting for cash that bad? He spent $10 on a raffle ticket that gave him 1 to 150 odds, no?

I second that, take the 600 and run! The schon may retail for 1150 or what ever but its a 400.00 cue on ebay.

Won Two Cues

This buddy of yours won both raffles. Does he play Blackjack, I'll pay for his airfare to a Detroit Casino and back him.

Those both look like nice cues, best of luck to your friend. Can he buy me some Big Lotto Tickets???

I won A $1200.00 Espiritu and sold it for $700.00..MY FRIEND WON A $800.00 MCDERMOTT AND SOLD IT FOR $400. THEN HE WON a $1100.00 Viking and sold it for $600.00...ANOTHER FRIEND WON A $1500.00 VIKING AND SOLD IT FOR $500.00....EVERYONE FIGURED, MARKED DOWN THEY WOULD SELL FASTER AND IT WAS ALL PROFIT ANYWAY. I BOUGHT one$10.00 ticket for the Espiritu...OH YEAH. I TRIED TO SELL IT FOR 2 YEARS AT $900.00 AND COULD NOT GET ANYONE TO TAKE IT.....SO WAS OFFERED $700.00 AND ACCEPTED.....HARD TO GET WHAT THEY ARE RETAILING FOR FOR SOME REASON.....ALL THESE WERE NEVER CHALKED OR USED AT ALL.....

The schon cue is a model is a LTD 1128 retail 1175.00. I have sold 2 of them between 850.00-950.00. The Omega cue is over priced at 400.00. If you are looking for quick cash 600-800 for the Schon and 100-200 for the Omega. The Schon is not a 400.00 cue on Ebay both of mine sold thru Ebay between 850-950. Hope this helps.

I agree with KOINNKID, That Schon should pull more than $600, I know he is not selling them here on the forum but I would hold out if that is the best offer he is getting there. Someone else is going to sell it for more......BTW Timberly met you at the US Open Warm up in Cambridge, MD. I went and got us some Marlboro Lights. Hope your having a good time...........

Nice looking schon. I would've loved to buy that if I hadn't just placed an order for a different schon. I'd suggest take the retail price, then deduct 30%. Most online stores give at most a 25% discount for a schon, so 30-35% should attract someone (that is if the schon is really brand new).

I have to say, with cues as hard to sell as they are right now, I would give almost nothing for the omega, and 400 max for the not so special schon. six hundred cash may not be an overly generous offer, but its not that out of line these days, for those types of cues. Retail or M.S R P is only a bad joke any more! with no basis what so ever in reality.

Ken, your right on the money, the only cue worth anything is the Schon.
The Omega is an Asian Import cue, that wholesales for less than $100.

I would take the money and run also!!!!

A wad of cash in hand is better than two cues in the bush, or something like that.

Tell your friend to counter offer $750 for both cues, then go down to $700.

Here's the Rub

I've got folks who win $500 at our Pub playing pulltabs on $5.....then again, I've got alot of folks who lose $500 playing pulltabs -- trying too win how many few ?$?$?

The thing is that your friend has little or nothing invested in the cues .... Oh yes, the retail may look pretty good but, the reality is that $600 is a resonable price and will pay a lot of freight towards his trip or whatever :)

I think the "Old Adage" is.....Don't LQQk a Gift Horse in the Mouth ;)

CA$H is KING

T,

Most "dealers" get a 40% discount on SCHONS. Whse distributers discounts are greater. Value on the import OMEGA is apprx $150.

If I were selling to a friend I'd be giving him a good deal, and the opportunity to make $, if I sold him both cues for $800/850.

Saved me the time,Cash is king and like alot of reply's the market is very slow, especially for these 2 gems. Now a dealer may say otherwise and they sure dont want to hear anything that under cuts there little niche there trying to carve out on ebay:D

I would think that $800 would be the very top and it would be hard to get. If he has no need for the cues take the $600. I don't think he is be taken advantage of, it is a buyers market for those cues. I don't think either cue is very desirable or in demand on the market.
