How About An AZB "Undercard" Match For A TAR Match?

My name is Andrew Cleary. I'm the art director for a television network. I live in New York City. Im on the right in the photo (you may know the guy in the middle). And no, I don't want to play you (that's normally what's asked next).

Thing is John, you're a great player and like I said, you're a nice guy... my intention was not to insult you or make you feel bad. I can tell I've offended you and I'm sorry. Happiness in a career is more important than the paycheck. That said, I do stand behind what I said, but I could have put it nicer way.

Andrew, I love this picture....

Wow, what happened to this thread???

Scanning over last 5 pages and I see about 80 posts by JB and the most of the others between cleary/schmidt....

KK9 had a nice idea going that was getting some buzz....

Let's try to get back on track here folks.... I like the idea of trying to get keith outta the dirt and also the aim guy/instructor battle with 1 year ban included, of course...

Anyone else have some ideas??? Getting Joe Rogan to play would also be cool... But one stipulation.. He must channel Earl during match... :grin-square:

u almost apologized but at the last second had to say i stand behind what i said. i still accept apology and im sorry too bud.
anyway andrew your a good guy too so if im in ny someday ill buy u a drink for sure.. p.s. i do not care if people play good or bad. i just have a hard time listening to the ones who talk like they r 10 times better then they r.feel me.
whether they r a d player or a pro.more often then not its the pros lol

No worries bud. I get around and I'm sure ill run into you sooner than later.

lol. Yeah I remember all that and more going back to RSB. It's one of the reasons I never take John's woofing seriously. He's got more conditions than a 90-year-old. (That's one of the reasons that $20K challenge posted earlier with the link was done by proxy.) Him and me -- never going to happen. If he hasn't managed to find me at one of the many events I've attended in the last 10 years, he's not going to manage to find me at one of them in the next 10 years.

But he does like to sit on the porch and yap, doesn't he :-)

Lou Figueroa

Um this is a bit disingenuous Lou. We have seen each other at events exactly three times in the past 12 years.

1. RSB Tournament in Chicago, 2001 I think - After months of razzing me about Hal's aiming systems, I beat you playing one pocket.

2. DCC 2002 or 2003 I think - We had a drink at the bar. You paid. We were cool with each other. Thank you.

3. 2010 SBE - You showed up at my booth as part of Eric Hu's entourage to witness him getting told why he and I were not going to play. I sat down and Jimbo had a little razz session and you made several erroneous comments about me and Whitten and I objected. Fred Agnir backed me up and corrected you. You didn't say a word about playing me. And in fact at that time I believe we were "ok" with each other anyway.

So don't act like this is an ongoing feud where I have barked and then ducked you in person. Since I offered to play you $100 a game and spot you 9/8 we have not been at the same event at the same time that I have been aware of.

The $20K high roll you tried to pull was just silly. But I did answer back that I would have played you even in a 10 ahead set for 10k if you posted. You didn't want any part of that because I think you didn't really want to gamble. If I were in your position I would have said POST and made me fly to Vegas and then beaten me easily on the table and spent the 10k on my wife and my buddies. I mean since you have the nuts if we play even and the triple nuts if I spot you I can't understand the logic of throwing 10k away. But you did so the original offer to give you 9/8 for $100 a game stands and will always stand.

I am more than happy to throw $500 at you and go up against the nuts to see if I can beat you. If I do then at least you wont have any more excuses. My excuse for losing is of course that you are WAY better than me. So I really have nothing to lose except $500. You though? I am not sure what a legitimate loss to me would do to your psyche. Getting weight from me and losing might make you quit pool. Which would be a tremendous loss to the pool community. But I will take that risk.

So Super Billiards Expo April 4-7th. See you there?

John, you need to take your lithium and Adderol. You are burning up your keyboard with your manic phase posts!

Look at you. John, this is why many people hold you in such low regard. We're here to talk/woof/interact on Pool topics. Disagreements happen. But, one thing is for sure, you, John Kaplan/Collins/Barton-(what ever your new, new last name is) seem to love to make things personal, trying to hurt people in other ways, such as their livelyhood. To me, that is A REAL LOWLIFE. Look at what I quoted below. Now, it;s no big deal for you to post my stuff. Hell, I've been interviewed on national business news shows and business radio, so it's not like I'm too worried about public exposure, lol. Thing is, how many others would resent you doing that? It's a real scumbag thing to do, Johnny.

Hey! I have an idea...

Why don't others do the same thing to YOU? I mean, they could contact the United States Federal Trade Commission(FTC) and look into your foreign exports into this country...Then again, I'm not sure the FTC deals with nickle/dime mom/pop businesses like yours.

Maybe, someone can contact the local authorities and the people that oversee tax revenue/business practices in the Fujian province of Xiamen? Is everything swept under your wife's name and ownership(she being a Chinese citizen)? Is the Department of Customs of the Xiamen Special Economic Zone aware of your business?

Oh, you're a foreigner living in China? Are your papers up to date? Someone can check with the Public Security Bureau, in case you're exploiting a Temporary Residence Permit. Are you considered a full citizen or are you "working some sort of angle" to stay in China? I mean, it's different than the USA- just marrying a Chinese permanent resident doesn't make you eligible to apply for citizenship automatically. You do know that your rights as an American, in a communist nation, mean squadoosh, right? It would be bad if you were accused of corporate or government espionage....

But, of course, this would be some real dirtbag things to do. If anything, why would someone want to do this on a POOL forum?

I'm sure nobody is gonna act on this. Me? I have a business to run, no time.

Eric >:p

Yes, hard to fade it when someone is right. Again though I would like to extend my deepest thanks to you for gracing us with your presence. For you to take time out of your busy life as the up and coming star of the financial planning world is amazingly generous of you.

Every time I see these clips https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLSKV5CK_fziU9QPWrEkieJ6v4LhbxlvFP

I am just amazed again at the depth of knowledge and high-powered people we have on AZB. Not only are you a world class player but you are a Wall Street power-broker and as down-to-earth as Warren Buffet.

I am sure you will parlay that little Jersey office into a hundred billion dollar conglomerate soon. Just remember pool when you are a billionaire.

Anyone wanting to invest please do not hesitate to look up Gryphgon Asset Management www.gryphonasset.com/ "Making it Happen".

Eric I am sure will take very good care of you and not put you into any risky municipal bonds. And he can teach you something on the pool table as well.

Disagreements happen? Yes, Eric I agree that they happen. But what you do is not a disagreement. You started ALL of this by accusing me of lying about my gambling stories and, in your opinion, pumping myself up to be a top amateur player. Something that I have never done.

So yes, Eric, when you go out of your way to attack someone then disagreements happen.

But, one thing is for sure, you, John Kaplan/Collins/Barton-(what ever your new, new last name is) seem to love to make things personal, trying to hurt people in other ways, such as their livelyhood.

Actually Eric I don't like to argue at all. I like to discuss pool. You however made it personal by calling me a liar and calling me out. You ave made it personal by attacking my cue case business repeatedly. And of course your statement above that I should take my meds is another personal insult.

I did not attack your livelihood Eric. Unless you consider praising it and urging people to use your services is an attack in your eyes.

To me, that is A REAL LOWLIFE. Look at what I quoted below. Now, it;s no big deal for you to post my stuff. It's not allowed to quote your mission statement? Is there something about your business that you don't want people to read? I feel that you are a stand up guy who goes after what he believes in. Just the sort of fellow that any high net-worth individual would want to have working for them.

Hey! I have an idea...

Why don't others do the same thing to YOU? I mean, they could contact the United States Federal Trade Commission(FTC) and look into your foreign exports into this country...Then again, I'm not sure the FTC deals with nickle/dime mom/pop businesses like yours.

Sure, go ahead. You have made it a point of yours to try and discredit me on this forum for the past several years. Do you need the phone number of the United States Customs service? They are the ones who handle questions about imports not the FTC.

Oh no, please don't do that. You would cause us so much trouble Mr. Hu. We very sorry sir. Your google is very strong :-)

Would you like the phone numbers? I can direct you to the right people in each department who will be happy to spend time investigating your allegations whatever they may be.

Oh, you're a foreigner living in China? Are your papers up to date?

No of course my "papers" (which consist of a visa and a registration) are not up to date. I am absolutely living illegally in China with my wife and two kids. Better get the Chinese police after me. What shall I do?

Someone can check with the Public Security Bureau, in case you're exploiting a Temporary Residence Permit. Are you considered a full citizen or are you "working some sort of angle" to stay in China? I mean, it's different than the USA- just marrying a Chinese permanent resident doesn't make you eligible to apply for citizenship automatically. You do know that your rights as an American, in a communist nation, mean squadoosh, right? It would be bad if you were accused of corporate or government espionage....

Oh no, not corporate espionage, I am headed for the gulag. Oh please Mr. Eric sir please don't report me I don't want to be tortured. :-)

You really don't know much about life here do you? You should come visit and I will take you to all the offices you want to report me to. I mean I personally think that it would be a waste of a lovely vacation on a nice sub-tropical island but if that's how you prefer to spend your time then I will be your chauffeur and my wife can help you fill out the paperwork in case your Mandarin is a bit rusty.

But, of course, this would be some real dirtbag things to do. If anything, why would someone want to do this on a POOL forum?

Well, yes, that would be sort of low to do anything to disrupt my business. Kind of like what you have already been doing these past three years. But I forgive you Eric. I understand that everyone has their motivations and whatever it is that put me in your crosshairs is something personal within you. I am naturally surprised that you even bother with me since you are so very busy being a wall-street power broker and rising star of the business television circuit. But then everyone needs a way to relieve stress and perhaps attacking people on message boards as you are doing is your way. In any event if I had a lot of money then I would certainly look you up for investing advice despite your actions that you have described as "scumbag" and "lowlife".

I'm sure nobody is gonna act on this. Me? I have a business to run, no time.

And yet you have time to run around and make disparaging comments about me. Kind of low-level disruption. Well, as I said, you are a very talented individual and you probably are able to insult people on pool forums with one pinky finger and touch typing in the blind while giving an interview to Forbes and trading stocks with the other hand. I wish that I had just one tenth of your skill and drive.

You are truly an amazing person Eric Hu and I am fortunate to know you.

come on guyslets stop the bickering...

JB and Eric can't you both just let it go?

Schmitty,

I'd love to drive up to Victorville when I'm back in Cali and take you up on that drink offer. Hell I'll even donate on some cheap tenball sets olayin even. You are up in Victorville right?

Jaden

I have let it go. I forgave Eric for all he has done to me.
In fact, on thinking about it I should be thanking Eric for advertising how bad I am. If I were the hustling type I'd train in secret and allow him to tell everyone how much I suck and then snap off some winners before anyone knows what happened.

But I am not going to train.......thanks anyway Eric.

Regarding the thread, let's all be clear, if a match is really going to happen then it's not going to be arranged in this thread. KK9 put it out there and it's a solid idea. I am sure it will come to fruition with more coordination with Justin.

My Suggestions for matches:

Stan Shuffet vs. any non-pro (naysayers preferred)
Travis Trotter vs. His Dad
JoeyA vs. Lou or Jay Helfert
Chris Tate vs. Juice (had to do it Chris)
Jenny from the Block vs. Cleary
Any Streamers vs. Each Other (get them in front of the camera)
CUBC/OMGWTF rematch.
Champ vs. Pat Johnson
Pat Johnson vs. Dave Segal (Spiderweb.com)
Dave Segal vs. Lou
Chris Banks vs. PocketPoint (or is that playing himself)
Chris Tate vs. 8 Pack (cuz they both play real good)
Geno Machino vs. Scott Lee (battle of the instructors)

Any others?

If this doesn't go off on TAR I suggest that we have a thread called AZB Grudge matches and work on making them happen on a stream somewhere. Would be kind of cool to have a list of videos where people with "issues" actually play each other. FTR though not everyone I listed has issues with people there are simply some matches I would like to see.

No worries bud. I get around and I'm sure ill run into you sooner than later.

Cleary you need to make some more t-shirts. Take some of Jimmy Mataya's sayings, "Cash, carry some it ain't heavy"

"I like cash"

"The man at the bank don't want your trophy"

"Play for Cash!"

or simply just "CASH"

Yes JB. In case you haven't noticed TAR is based in Vegas. Thx for setting me up with KK9. Unlike yourself I wont back up.

Nick B

Heck, I'd love to play an undercard TAR Donkey match. That would be a bad-ass life experience (even if I might be so nervous I couldn't draw a drop of spit, lol). I've played golf on the senior golf tour in pro ams 7 times, and performed very well (shot 31 on the back 9 at Piper Glenn in Charlotte). So, I ain't skeered.

But, it's on Justin to choose what he believes is in his company's best interest. I don't know if I'm as controversial as other options, if that is a criteria he might see as beneficial to stirring the chatter. I'd love to play Helfert in 9 or 10 ball given a choice, I think it'd be a fair battle.

I fly to Vegas @ 3 - 4 times a year. The M Cup every other December, and furniture markets @ May 11th and end of July. I skipped the currently running World Furn Market because Bonus Ball was delayed.

Oh, and for Smitty's record ;) my name is Matt Thompson. I do small business consulting since I got out of owning/op'g 14 Jiffy Lubes for 22 years. I'd classify myself as a strong B player.

Regardless of who plays, I hope Justin pulls it off and that it is beneficial to his business. If it works, he might make it a regular TAR thing. Then a # of us asshats might get a swing at it!

There you go Matt Thompson vs. Nick Beretanos. I will open the betting with $500 on Matt Thompson. I will even sweeten the pot and bet $50 that this match does not happen in 2013. Any takers?
