We need 8 tables mate to run that many teams across 3 nights...

Take a page from the tree people, just chain yourselves to the tables.

As the Romans said "come back with your slate or on it".

Talk about a roller coaster of league nights. Last week I won 9 ball 3-0 by running a 3 pack. This Monday I lost in 8 ball 0-4, granted against my son who is a 630 Fargo and I had only a few chances that I messed up on. Tuesday TAP 8 ball I won in a tight match that had maybe 8 innings total in 9 games where I won the first 2 games without a single miss or error (opponent broke dry, I ran out, I broke dry, the guy missed, I ran out). Tonight, I could not hit the broadside of the barn and lost 4-2 after blowing three shots that were basically ball in hand position.

I just wish I did not have crazy swings like I was some guy on drugs LOL Just a nice steady mediocrity would be nice, none of this play like an A one day, play like a C the next.

I´m playing in Germany in our league system.

Saison is rough for our team and we have 2 games left to not relegate to the next lower league.
We have it in our own hands.

For me personally the season is ok. I played 32 games (16 9-Ball and 16 10-Ball) and won 50% of it.

Ever have "one of those nights"? I just had one.

I played an SL7 in APA 9-ball. (I'm a 5.) I lost team points 14-6. But that doesn't tell the whole story. I kept it pretty close until my opponent ran from out after I scratched on a break. I'll explain.

We played a total of 11 racks. I lost the lag. I racked a total of 10 times. The only reason I pocketed the 9 and didn't have to rack the one time was because my opponent missed an easy 8 on a break-n-run. To add insult to injury, on my break I scratched, then he ran out.

So far it's rack 10 times, my opponent racks once.

It'll get better in 8-ball, right? I played a different 7. (I'm a 6.) I lost the lag. I lost 5-0. So that means I racked 5 more times.

I was a frigging racking machine. I racked 15 times, my opponents racked a total of 1 time.

I simply did not get the rolls. I played a TON of safeties, mostly they worked, sorta. But then I'd get safed back on a great escape, then I'd safe again. Eventually, I'd safe and leave a shot, and he'd run out. Also, I must have rattled at least 15 shots. And snookered myself at least 6 or 7 other times, the cue ball rolling 1 ball too far or too short (or six inches). (Yes, I did try to set up for coming into the shot line but it wasn't always possible.) Or, I'd cheat the pocket but not hit it as accurately as I intended, and hang the CB in the pocket jaws, or scratch. Or, oh, hell, you get the idea.

G-damnit. The pool gods are cruel. This afternoon at home I shot extremely well. Tonight, I was just that hair off, and playing against highly skilled players, that's all it takes to get steamrolled. Sigh.

Started playing APA 9 ball this session. SL 4, so far so good. Won my first 2 matches 19-1 and 14-6. 8 Ball I'm 1-1. As I mentioned in another thread, got a new stick, Players PureX, 21 oz with a rubber grip. Absolutely loving this stick. Going to Tri-Cup tomorrow.

Shot some of the best pool of my life at Tri-Cup and got swept. Literally missed maybe 2 shots I should have made in 3 games, and got swept..........
Wednesday............. took it out on my next opponent. 3-0ed him, went Rackless.
He screwed up and set me up and I made him pay. Expecting to be a SL5 soon.............

I haven't hit a ball in over 3 weeks, might be 4 weeks...hoping that helps me reset and get back on track tonight.

State Vegas Qualifier in 10 days...

Shooting well lately. I got added to an APA Double Jeopardy team which had an SL5 as its highest level. I'm a 6 in 8 and a 5 in 9, so I've been pitted against the opposition's best players, and my record shows it. I'm shooting OK but now I have to find a way to win. I think it's going to come down to making better decisions.

Last week in 8 ball I played a 7. I jumped out to a 1-0 lead, then slowly but surely got overrun, lost 5-2 in a 5-4 race. It's OK because I didn't embarrass myself. I actually played OK.

Yesterday in BCA 14.1 I was in a 90-70 race (I had to get to 70). I jumped out early 12-2, and that first rack got in my opponent's head a little bit. Later he admitted he started pressing a little, being behind early. He didn't play his best game thereafter. Toward the end of the match he made a good comeback, started to find his stroke, but I won 70-58. Because I won by such a large margin, next week I'll be shooting to 80. I don't know what my opponent's goal will be yet. Hopefully it will be manageable.

14.1 is one of those games that you can sandbag, to a point. Not that I would, but I could have played more, um, conservatively, so my margin wasn't so large, to keep my goal at 70. But 1) I'd never do that. I always bring my best game, no matter what. And 2), in 14.1 a player can go on a tear and run through one or two (or more) racks, and just like that, your big lead evaporates.

I must say that 14.1 has taught me much about touch, feel, safety play, and decision-making. My safety play translated over to 8- and 9-ball, and is MUCH better as a result of competing in 14.1, and practicing it at home, just six weeks now.

Once again, I'm left extremely discouraged after league night. I was hoping that after several weeks off, perhaps I might have a sort of a reset. Alas, its all the same.

I really don't want to play now, as it puts my teams at a disadvantage.

Poor timing, given my 9-ball team is playing on Sunday for the chance to go to Vegas. Sigh.

Our 9-ball State Vegas qualifier was yesterday.

This past week I spent a couple nights doing nothing but practicing, working on mechanical issues. Felt pretty good about it. Wasn't expecting to be a world beater, but I thought that I ought to be competitive. Much better feeling about it.

Then I got smoked 18-2 yesterday. The only thing that keeps me from going completely off the deep end is that our 4 best player played, and 3 of the 4 got smoked 17-3, 18-2 and 17-3. Not a good day for us.

Sigh. Never believed myself to be masochistic, but jeeze, this is getting silly.

Im feeling better with life and its showing when i play. before with alot of stress i had i didnt think it affected me much because i didnt take it into the pool room.

lots of confidence and more balls going down.
playing better in the 1pkt league .
got 2nd in the end of the league 1pkt tournament .
im the lowest skill so i get a big handicap and can play as aggressive as i want

apa started off me beating a 7 ive never beaten 4-3
last night i was breaking on the hill to another 7 i never beat before at 3-0
then the rolls just didnt want to go my way and i dropped 5 straight. couldnt finish to save my life, never got frustrated too much to kill my drive off but im incredibly dissapointed, that one stings still

eh next week i get to play another 7 ive never beat, and im gonna do what i been doing. keep playing with confidence and reserve

winning more in bca now to. my 3 man team is competing for 1st place

My summer league started up a couple of weeks ago, and I'm back to playing with my off hand. I have the set the same goal as last year when I was hoping to finish with a winning average (10+ w/BCA handicap). Ended up with something slightly above a 9 last year, but I'm confident that I'll do notably better this time around.

I jokingly described myself as a 'drunk toddler' trying to stand still while attempting to cue straight at the beginning of last season. I'm already at a point where most don't realize I'm not naturally a lefty and are just assuming I'm playing real bad...lol.

Going to be a fun summer

We just had our 8-ball regionals here for the CPA(Canadian version of the APA) to determine who is going to Vegas. Our league has recently changed hands to a new owner and this event was a gong show, at best. Our team has been together for roughly 6 years with minor tweaks to players and has had very consistent and stable handicaps throughout that time. Over the course of the last month or so prior to the event, we had 3 players handicaps go up a skill level. During this event, a player went up after our first match from a 5 to a 6 which made putting a roster together tough(and made it so that I(a 7) could only play if we forfeited our last player spot. When our next match finished, a second player went up from a 4 to a 5 making it impossible for us to field a full 5 man roster. We somehow managed to win a match while forfeiting the final game and, lo and behold, a player(who just a month ago went from a 3 to a 4) went up to a 5 which is so far beyond his ability it boggles my mind.

We protested that something was wrong and were told by the operator that the tournament was held to a different standard and that they took the best 10 of the players last 30 games to base the rating....but once league started again, the 5 would likely be a 4 again. A number of teams in our event and the 9-ball event running at the same time in the venue had similar experiences with many games being forfeited.

Needless to say, our team is now looking for a new league to play in and I am reminded why I retired from leagues years ago...before being talked into playing this one a few years back.

Finally got the monkey off my back tonight, played a good match and beat a quality opponent, 4-0. It's been so long since I played reasonably well. A good feeling. Now to try and maintain a little consistency...

Whoo hoo.... Got my first brk and runout shooting lefty last night.

I did have a few chances last season, but always managed to work myself into trouble.

My overal score last night wasn't great. Think it rounds up to a 10avg (BCA), but it should have been way better with two strong wins out of the 5 racks.

So far this session I been doing pretty well. 8-ball I am 4-1, having won 4 straight. 9-ball I am 3-1, averaging 13.5 points per match. So far, so good. Just hope the trend continues.

When I play my non-pool friends in pool I like to shoot off handed (I'm naturally a lefty). I also used to practice once in a while when I had a table, it's good to have in your toolbox.
