ill shoot left handed whenever it comes up, getting better with it all the time
Our team made it through Tri cup last session and on to the Vegas qualifier a couple of weeks ago. In between that time period one of my players unexpectedly passed away two week later two of my players went up in rating (3 to a 4 and a 6 to a 7). My other 3 skill level player the day of the first round of the Vegas qualifier had a plane delay enroute from an island vacation and was unable to make it (would be back on Sunday if we got that far). My 6 skill level player was on call with Comcast and got called out just after we arrived, and my other 4 skilled level player was called home on an emergency and left for North Carolina.
That left me with my other 4 who was crushed by a 3 on the team in the first round (3-0). Then my 7 (previously a 6) early eighted the first game, won the second game and got beat on the third game (by a 4 on the other team) at that point we were down 0 - 5 leaving only me to play but by that time we were mathematically out of it.
You couldn't make this up...we had so much promise and I thought we would have gone all the way, but it was not met to be.
Other than that, doing just fine...
It gets better...after I told the league we were bowing out due to manning challenges they told us if we had made it through the first round, there was a bye on the second round.LOL, sounds like one of the teams we played in Vegas a few years ago. Our match start time was 11AM and their teammate was driving from Indiana and something happened and he was delayed, then he said he'd be there, then he said maybe, then they stopped hearing from him about 4 hours before the match. We're pretty laid back so we gave them some time but he didn't show up in time. He did show up later but I never heard what happened.

MR. Maniac, Your decision is cool and so are you. being above 50% is commendable. We are all heading down the same street so keep your head UP. And please don't give up here. I get it and driving a ways to not have much fun is a no brainer, going out in style is not a bad thing. I am not there yet but I have put my game on hold to try and help my kids out with getting a foothold on their lives. They don't need me but yet I an "DAD" and can't help myself.Monday August 7, 2023 is a day that will live in infamy (just throwin' a little Franklin Roosevelt on y'all). It is the last day I will be on an APA league team (or any team for that matter). Since suffering a stroke 18 months ago and with my other physical ailments hindering my ability to shoot a decent game or have any fun trying to compete, I've decided to put myself out to pasture. I cannot play up to my current skill level and I refuse to drive 20 miles one way and pay $8 a match to get my ass handed to me every week by players I'm having to spot balls to. And losing enough times to get my skill level to drop doesn't sit right with me. I've had a good 17 year run. My lifetime winning percentages are, for 8-ball (58.85%) and 9-ball (56.95%), so I had some success when I was younger and my health was better.
I'll still check this thread when I see a new post showing up on my notifications. Y'all keep your heads down and shoot 'em straight. Most of all.....have fun!
