How do u know for sure?

I see a lot of posts here about how the IPT is finished. This confuses me because of the following reasons:

1. Except the delayed payouts there seems no sign that the IPT is not going on. I agree that not paying out timely is a bad thing, but to be honoust those things do happen. My company is a big publicly listed one but when I file for reimbursement of travel costs of a business trip it sometimes takes about 2 months cause of admin stuff.

2. If the company is sold to Ho interactive and ho interactive is not disputing this then there seems to be enought cashflow to keep it running. Stanley has deep pockets and so does KT right? So it seems that money should not really be an issue.

Anywayz, I hope the IPT is not finished as I like the online watching facility. I think this is a real great thing.

Anywayz, I guess we will find out pretty soon....

Well Ssirus with 7 posts I would look at the past 28 days with no explanation forthcoming about the status of the IPT as reason to suggest that the IPT done.

You are the 2nd person to suggest waiting 60 days. That is past Chicago. Never happen. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

As for the negative logic with regards to Ho it really proves nothing. Just a distractor.

If the Reno checks aren't delivered before Chicago, the Chicago ain't gonna happen!

So I assume you are willing to buy the rights to some IPT checks for say 75 cents on the dolllar? What figure can i count on you for? I do have a seller.

he does have a bit of a point though. Nothing with the IPT has changed. all the events are still scheduled, the website's still up and even being added to and updated, and there has been no statement from the IPT saying anything negative.

now whilst yes i know the players not receiving their cheques is not good to say the least, evidence wise the only negative we can say is there has been a payment delay. nothing more, nothing less.

to play devils advocate here, the players are late being paid a really generous sum. that's all. there is not one single other sign that the IPT will cease to exist.

so while you can make huge judgements based on the fact the cheques haven't been handed out, and don't get me wrong many of these predictions and evaluations of the current situation are understanderble, there is arguably more evidence to argue that the IPT is staying put.

and besides, it better not finish because i haven't finished watching mike sigel's perfect pool yet!

ssirus,

kt had guaranteed that at the end of each event, unlike past histories of pool tournaments, the ipt would pay it's prize monies. Of course, kt has now joined such a long listof shameful pool promoters. This non payment is not to be taken lightly. It cuts to the essential core of the lingering distrust that kt's past certainly warrants.

Last may kt told me and others that he had sold 51% of the ipt to a european interest for 60 million dollars. Now he asys he is selling the ipt to ho intertactive for 150 million dollars. WHich one is/was a LIE.

If ktisas wealthy as he has gone out of the way to declare, how can the ipt subject itself to such a widespread ridicule. I think we all have to ask that question. Why jeapordize the momnetum of the revenue producing qualifiers. Very little turnouts, btw, since the non-payment issue began.

So, on the contrary, until there is a reno payment, the ipt is essentially dead. It ceases to be a viable entity. Only a sucker would show for chicago, still owed substantial amounts of money. He wont get 90% of the field.

They cancelled london because there were no funds. I doubt that kt will even hold chicago if he doesn't pay for reno. He wouldn't dare bring an avoidable embarrasment upon himself if unneccesary. I suspect that announcement will be forthcoming shortly.

If Ho is a sincere option in bailing out the ipt, i doubt that a transaction can happen in a timely enough matter to host chicago. It appears that stanley ho, at this time, is the last possible salvation.

I think you would be better served by removing your rose colored glasses, taking off your blinders, and see the situation in the proper light.

Have you?

Watched the NA Open on Versus yet? I did, and it was impressive. It was well done I found it both entertaining and interesting. Ronnie O'Sullivan and Johnny Archer match was great to watch. Ronnie's different style of play adds a new flavor to the mix.

The Introduction, flashing the players with their nicknames and some glitz
was an attention getter. IMO, the show had some pizazz to it, and the
excitement of the sport showed up some. Stop and think what the IPT has already accomplished, and the potential if it continues. The IPT keeps improving in so many areas as they go along, and yes, some areas need work, but this tour is still the best thing to happen in Pool, and I for one, would hate to see it die out. I like it, and really hope that everything can be worked out to continue.

worried beef,

if there is nothing negative outside of late payemnts, can you please explain the cancellation of london and the POSTPONEMENT (ie, cancellation) of the first six months of the 2007 season to us.

The BEDROCK of this tour was the promised and well promoted high purses. THAT is what brought players from all over the world, not KT's charisma. He loudly proclaimed how this tour would be different, big money, quick pay etc.

Now, he has broken his word on this fundamental aspect of the IPT, and you want to say nothing has changed. Just a little delay? Website be damned, pay the players is what I say!

The way I see it, the website is a cyber curtain between the players and the missing-in-action IPT.

"cyber curtain", I like that!

We can't know for sure, but even I have started to believe it is over... And I am a dreamer!!!

I cancelled my membership in the IPT Members Club today, and saw that it is really hard to find out how to cancel... I ended up sending Deno an email...

There has now been two Eurotours since the Reno-event, and the players are not happy with the situation. Many of the European IPT players do think that the IPT is finished, and that there will not be any payouts or Chicago-event...

If they had paid before this weekend, all the players on the Eurotour would have known it, and the IPT would have got a lot of players to the tournaments the coming Friday. Now it is too late. If the IPT-players will get paid this Tuesday, only a handfull of players will know.

The rest of the 200 players from the Eurotour have got home and told the other players on their local poolhall that there is no more of the IPT...

However, I will run the qualifier as scheduled on Friday, because two friends of mine have got free entries. Let them play, and if it is still "alive" one or maybe both of them will go to Vegas!! (Guess I am still a dreamer after all)

I couldn't agree more

The one thing the IPT had going for it was M-O-N-E-Y

Players being yanked around, hop when KT says hop, kiss his rear in just the right place, nothing was any problem or too much to ask, KT was putting up the biggest money they had ever seen, more than they had dreamed they would ever see.

If the big money is gone odds are the IPT is gone too.

Could it be because when KT saw those players climb up on the tables and kneel (as Gabe Owen did) he got physically upset and thought to himself, why am I doing all this for these ungrateful idiots. I get them all dressed up, treat them like royalty, and this is the way they disrespect me and the game. They crawl around on top of the tables like monkeys.

With that he said. The hell with them and took his bat and ball and went home. Took his money too.

So now you now the real story why the IPT failed.

I'm glad this is just an opinion, not a fact.

And ps. If the heart doesn't beat, that's THE END. In this case, the heart seems to be beating, only some problems with the hand-mouth-belly connection, which doesn't yet mean 'THE END'.

It's not hard to put up a Hollywood-style set -- it looks like the Emerald City from the front, and it's propped up by 2x4's in the back...

Take the entry fees and sponsor payments, add a speculative sum of KT's money, subtract the actual payouts and you get KT's total exposure. If he was looking to build a phony Hollywood set, with the intention of only keeping it viable long enough to "flip" the whole deal to some buyer, you would see exactly what we are seeing now. Perhaps the buyer didn't come along quickly enough, and KT ran out of play money. Based upon his history, I wouldn't doubt it.

The idea of that guy bringing credibility to anything is just too farfetched for me...
