How do you chaulk your cue?

What the hell huh? I hardly ever start a new thread so I decided to do (what i think could be) a fun one.

I like to really put it on. I'll put the chaulk down...look at the shot...and pick it up and chaulk that baby again. I can't stop chaulking. I chaulk constantly. I love it. I'm not a messy chaulker though...no, no, no. I keep my ferrule clean. When I miss I'll chaulk it. Not to shark, I put it right back down. Just a quick chaulk is all. Then when I get back to the table I really start to put it on.

I like the way Efren chaulks. LOL. He just stands there looking at the table chaulking away in a circular motion. He's all wrist action if you watch him. Good stuff.

I can't stand the quick chaulker. They are usually the same guys that keep there chaulk in there pocket. One swipe every shot and back in it goes. Drives me crazy. Some quick chaulkers will twist and pull in one swipe but its still a quick chaulk.

Essentially I'm a big fan of the aggresive chaulkers.

I slide my cue down in left hand, swipe, rotate, swipe, rotate, watching for even coverage on last swipe. I am anal about everything so I have to see the work...

Oh yeah...the even coverage guys. I new there would be some. I think its all just a myth. When you think about it do you really think a little thicker hear or there is going to affect the impact? When the cueball makes contact with the tip the thicker part of the chaulk will show no resistance and smash down to the same levelness as the thinner part IMO.

I'm a minimalist. I look at the cue tip while I'm CHALKING (no "u" in chalk, you must be thinking "caulk") and make sure I give it a nice even layer. Then I tap the shaft on my bridge hand while holding the cue over the floor to knock any excess off (keeps those big splatter marks off the cloth). Most shots I forget to chalk. It usually takes me 3 or 4 shots before I chalk again in practice. In competition I use the same technique, but chalk pretty much every shot. I use the time to look over the shot and make my decision. If the chalk has a huge cavity bored into it by agressive chalkers, it makes it very hard for me to apply a nice even layer. Most players have a chalk ring on the ferrule of their cue from using chalk with a big hole drilled into it. I like a flat faced piece of chalk and a clean ferrule.

I M a Painter and that Means I start from the Center of the Tip and Stroke my Chalk in an Outward Motion. Rotating my Tip. This Time Consuming process allow me time to THINK BETWEEN SHOTS...

I prefer blowing off the excess to tapping but it don't matter because after I blow it off (the chalk and no Im not thinking of caulk;) ) I go right back to chalking it again. I really don't mind the bored out chalk that much. I'm not a borer myself but I use the inside walls of it and my ferrule stays clean. I hate BRAND NEW pieces. It doesn't go well with the way I chalk so I instantly break them in before I even shoot.

Chalking Cue

I do it the cool way. I put the cube of chalk on my tip and place the cue on my right leg, then with my hand on my cue I roll it up and down my leg so I am sure to impress everyone! :p

I chalk from the center og the tip out to the edge and spin my cue around as the butt is touching the floor. Small little swipe applications. Then I spin the twist the cue with the chalk touching the edge of the tip to get the miscue area.

LOL. A while back I played a guy that would place the chalk on the tip holding the cue only with the chalk and butt end on the floor and take his right foot, place it on the cue near the butt, and go back and forth rapidly. He did it so fast you could barely catch him doing it. He never cracked a smile either. It was almost like he was still walking as he did it. Funny stuff. This guy was a real gem if you know what I mean. Every now and then I do it just to be silly...but not in front of people I don't know.

How in the hell do I edit my thread title from chaulk to chalk so I dont look like such a dumbass?:o I know how to edit but it wont let me change the title.

What do you mean chaulking the cue takes all the gaps out of your game:D :D

I like the ones that put it on the floor and spin it like they are trying to set their game on fire or something:rolleyes:

I pick the chalk up with my bridge hand and slide down the cue shaft till I get to the tip, start swiping carefully, then realize I have the chalk sideways and my thumb is now blue. Set the chalk down, wipe off thumb and pick the chalk back up. Repeat process.... paying attention this time to how I picked up the cube. Then carefully rock the chalk side to side and rotate shaft then repeat. Put the chalk down and grip the shaft sliding my hand off the end to remove any chalk dust from the ferrule, while grinding the magic blue dust into the pores in the shaft wood.
After that I get down on the shot, set up and proceed to miscue violently as I remember I didnt look at the tip for coverage..........

I tend to chalk like the way I've seen Corr and Basavich do it. I put the butt of the cue on the floor and hold the shaft a few inches below the ferrule and tilt the cue at a slight angle so I can see the tip. Just swipe across the tip evenly. Works for me.

I put the chalk on the floor and hold it with my feet while I spin the cue in it like I am trying to start a fire.

Since it is just for fun.

I can't stand deep well chalks or new chalks. they have to be perfect. totally perfect.

and if my table doesn't have perfect chalk but the next table does, i like to steal their chalk when my neighbors aren't looking. Sometimes i'll replace their perfect chalk with my sub-standard chalk and see if they notice. sometimes i'll just plain swipe it. gotta be careful stealing chalk, though. so far, i'm so sneaky i haven't been caught yet.
