How do you date a Tad cue?

Hi All, just wondering if anyone knows how I can find out when my Tad cue was made. It has serial number 2386 under the bumper, but I cannot find anything online to translate this into a year. I was told it was made in 2001, but just want to be sure, as I intend to sell it, and want to be able to give full confirmed details about the cue.

Obviously there is the option of trying to contact Fred, but if I don't need to bother him I won't.

Anyone got any info?

"How do you date a Tad cue?"

First, I say something like 'what a nice butt sleeve you have' then see where things go from there.

In all seriousness, I'm no expert on Tad cues so will leave it to those in the know to solve this one for you, sir.

best,

Only Fred will know. He has a little book of serial numbers that shows year built and where it went after it left the shop.

Having said that, I believe your cue is right around your estimate. I would have guessed 2003 (I have one that is serialized 13xx and it was for sure built in 1993. Its been estimated Tad puts out ~100 cues a year).

Hope that helps.

Very carefully

First breakup with current cuethen ask the Tads owner if you can take it out.

Anybody know what tool is needed to get the bumper off?

Screw driver...I believe it is a philips head but not sure. Early Tads do not have a serial number. I forgot when they started doing it, it was around when they moved the shop from one place to another.

Older Tads have a philips (can see it), newer Tads have a different bumper which hides the screw.

I used to own a Tad with serial no.2208 and it was made in Nov. 2002, so yours would be definitely be newer than that.

OK, that is interesting, I was told mine was 2001, but that is obviously not correct.

probably mid to late 2004 judging by your number and date.

I will do what others have suggested and contact Tad cues to find out for sure.

Thanks all...

With an opening line like "How do you date a TAD cue", I'd have expected Tramp Steamer to jump in with some of his rye humor! Nice try Brian.
