Give it back to the person who wrapped it and ask them to do it again. They should make good on it after only two weeks.

Get a "wrapless" cue. KISS. There are less things to fail. You don't see many World Class Snooker player's using a cue with "wrap" on it do ya? Maybe no one? There is a reason for that.

Unless you have super sweaty hands and have played every day since the wrap was installed, it shouldn't have happened. It soulds like the guy you had do your wrap didn't do such a great job. Ask him to re-press it.

One thing you may want to try if your hands are very sweaty...... Grab some wax paper and burnish the wrap after it's been re-pressed. I used to do this when I had linen.

Well, you don' see any worl class pool players playing with a cue that
doesn't have a wrap, unless they are fronting for a cue biz that gave them
one. There is a reason for that.

I suggest you take it back to the cue repairman and give him the chance to make it right before you do anything else, inless you are pissed and you are done with him.

What part of the country are you in ?

rat ot ryan from muellers is 100% you will be happy with his work.

You can burnish it yourself.
I've been doing this on cues for years and it's always comes out great.
Run to Hobby lobby and pick up some blocks of Perifin wax and some brown paper bags.
I tape the finish of my cue with painters tape then rub the wax on the wrap. it gos on thick and sticky but then you wrap it using the paper bag, squeeze tight and begin to Burnish it using long strokes. The friction heats the wax and settles it into the wrap. Whatever fraying you have go's away. Your left with an awesome feeling double pressed feel.
I saw a tutorial video on John Madden's web site years ago and have been doing it ever since.
HOPE THIS HELPS

Take some 2000 grit sand paper and to some very very light turns in the direction of the wrap then do the wax method mentioned above.

Sometimes if the linen wrap has been pinched and the thread is broken or almost broken...and/and is trying to unwrap it's self, then you can use a small dob of clear fingernail polish to stop it from continuing to unravel...but don't touch the polish, until it's completely dry...or it will smudge...

anyhow, this is just a band-aid...

Since it's only been on for 2 weeks () since you had it rewraped you should take it back to the person who did the job for you. That's it, period.

I would take this approach except that 1000 grit paper would be my preference, and use a small flat board for a stiffback.
Whether the wrap was pressed, or not, isn't the issue here. Pressing only flattens the linen making it uniform and smooth. It is obviously lacking a sealer, which should have been the last thing done to it before the job was complete.
Take it to your friendly neighborhood cue repair person (the one on the other side of town from this one) and have it done right.

Thanks for the info so far i may try the wax method. I would take it back to the cue guy but hes an hour away. Also its solid black linen, is this color worse than other colors to fray for some reason? I remember seeing a couple linen wrapped bk2's that frayed out similar to this.

Only REAL FIX, ...is go with leather

One old school thing that works very well for pressing linen wraps are glass bottles...

The old Coke bottle are ideal, but even a beer bottle with the wrapper stripped off will work...

Just rotate the cue in your hand and rub the glass on the wrap...

Presses the imperfections down nice and gives it a nice smooth feel...

I've been toying with the idea of replacing the linen wrap on my Josey with stacked leather...but then, the cue plays well as it is, so "if it ain't broke"...

I'm with those who say it isn't right that a linen wrap would fray after a mere two weeks. Even two years would be too soon.
