The breakout shot using the five is a shot that comes up a lot in 14.1, the only difference is you are going the length of the table instead of breaking open balls in the rack area but the angle is the same. Not an easy shot but by no means impossible for a decent player.
The thing with breaking with the 5 is that you really have no margin for error. You need a perfect shot.
If you choose to break with the 6(with bottom-right), you have almost a diamond room for error. Thats why imo.
