How hard is it to say something good about a pool player and pool halls?

It seems to me that pool players and pool related people always look for something bad to say about a pool player or pool hall!!! Would it be hard to look for something to say good about a pool player and pools halls, or tournaments as well? I may be wrong in my thinking, but I am saying this from facts I have read right here on the AZB forum!!! Thanks for your input! Their are so many good things you can say about pool players, pool halls, and pool tournaments!!!

Ok I'll start.
I play at "Hanks" in Wheatridge Colorado.
Decent tables-good food-nice bunch of mostly older guys during the day.
Play from 10 AM to 4 PM for $6.00 per person.
There are a couple of negatives about this room but this is not the thread to bring them up.
All in all I like the place.

Must be pretty hard. I'm the only one.

Saying something good

I play at Felt www.feltbar.com Englewood Colorado. They have 9' tables and a bunch of bar box tables. The thing that stands out most to me is the staff. I have not experienced a rude employee since I have been going there. They call you by your name and treat you with respect.

The tournament directors are friendly and helpful and Sam (Diep) Vidal the house pro is just awesome. She is very friendly and approachable. Everytime I go there she makes me feel welcome. I passed this place by many times because the outside needs a facelift but the inside is really modern and comfortable. You can tell the staff is working really hard to turn this place into one of the best Colorado has to offer.

I go to school at UC Irvine and they have a pool room there that has (8) 9' Brunswick tables with fast cloth. The hourly rate is ridiculously cheap for students at $1/hr and $5/hr for non students.

Only gripes,
- Hard to find a good match there.
- Hard to educate people about how their repeated scooping of the cue ball and sitting on the tables damages the equipment.
- Also the workers are forced to put on Sirius top "40" hits, but it's really just the same 6-8 songs on repeat. I just don't get contemporary music :scratchhead:.

Unfortunately I think it's human nature to report the bad more than the good. For example, if a person goes to a restaurant and has a good meal they may tell one person about it. But if that same person has a bad meal they are likely to tell 10 people or more.

Our news is another good example, most of the local and national news is negative. People pay attention to the bad news and more importantly they talk about the bad news.

That being said I would like to say that I had a great time in Chris's billiards in Chicago and Ride the Rail near St. Louis. Everyone I met at both of those places where friendly and good sports. One of them help show me some pointers on 3 cushion billiards.

A few years ago I visited Banana's in San Antonio Texas.

Incredible service!

Good food, clean tables, and a nice place to play pool.

Did I mention the incredible service?

Not that hard. I play at Romine's in Franklin Wisconsin. Here's their site.

The owners and staff are great as well as their food. Right now their recovering all the tables. :-)

Players, can't name names but we have some strong players. ;-) Very good group of elder statesmen and some strong young bloods.

I play out of Cue and Cushion in St. Louis (http://www.cueandcushion.com) and the only "negative" thing is that the decor is still pretty much out of 1975... but that means the tables are great (all 9 foot GCs), the prices are great ($4/hr after 6mp, and $2 between 11am and 6pm!!!) and the people are great (family owned)!

I highly recommend stopping in if you're anywhere near the place.

I forgot to add this one. There are some great pictures on the wall in there. Nice place to play.

Good words

Tommy K. is one of the nicest pool players I have ever met .Diamond billiards in cape coral florida is one of the nicest pool rooms I have ever been in . This is it for me being nice today :p

I've been to many nice pool rooms and met many great people. If it were all bad, I wouldn't be here.

I think some people complain about the negative aspects of pool because of the game's terrible reputation and lack of funding. They're thinking pool would be a lot better if it would clean itself up.

rooms

Seems to me I have had better times and more fun in pool rooms than in bars in general. Maybe it's because I know what to expect, but the clientele in pool rooms has always seemed friendlier than in a bar.

There have been a few serious exceptions to this however.;)

That's totally wrong. There are so many threads on here praising this or that pool hall or pool player I couldn't possibly count them all.

I realize the positive threads don't outnumber the negative ones, but there are still a ton of them, mostly with genuine compliments.

BTW, I love First Break in Sterling (I say for the 20th time), and I like Earl Strickland and Stevie Moore, amongst many other pros. I root for Brandon Shuff more than any other as he is the leading player from our area and the only top pro I know personally. Also he is a very nice and down to earth guy.

We have 1 pool hall, that I know of, in a radius of about 120 miles.

They have an EXCEPTIONALLY FREAKING LOUD SOUND SYSTEM. Even through my earplugs, there's nothing quite like some relaxing death metal to soothe your nerves. And seriously, Nirvana never gets old either. Not even when it's on repeat for 2-3 hours.

The staff are fantastically well versed at being unhelpful and rude.

There are quite a few excellent (I do mean excellent) players there.

There's action about most of the time.

Once a month there is a large team barbox tournament. It usually pays out about $800-$1000 for the winning team.

The Northern Lounge in Glendale AZ had a GREAT TUESDAY WEEKLY NIGHT NINE BALL TOURNEMENT, I use to go there 2 out of maybe four time a month, that alway had abour 24 or more players, before the place closed due to many reason including the RECESSION.
