How long does it take to refurbish 4 valley pool tables?

So I went to a bar today at 7 a.m. in the morning like 1 does. And I want to play pool and I went in and the valley pool tables were gone. I asked the bartender and they said they were getting refurbished. So I'm curious how long that takes? Let's just assume that they just moved them out yesterday or something. How long could I be looking at? Also the question is did the bartender lie to me or are they really getting refurbished? Would you move tables and chairs in the area that the pool tables were at if they are getting refurbished?

I gotta give it to you, you come up with some off the wall shit. "Refurbishing" needs to be defined before anyone can tell you how long it will take.
I'm telling you exactly what I was told. I was told they are getting refurbished. I do not know anything else beyond that. How about you tell me how long it could possibly take to refurbish the entire thing from the ground up that way I could have some form of measurement. Are we talkin 6 months are we talkin a year or are we talkin two weeks? Seeing as how it looks like no one is going to be help here. I'm probably just going to call the company.

how can anyone answer your question... we dont know what the table needs. we dont know what condition they were in or anything. how can anyone tell you. what does refurbish mean? rebuilding rails? repairing slate? we dont know.

And I'm telling you there is no way to give you an accurate estimate. To restore (4) tables from the ground up could take months but it all depends on who's doing it, how many people are working on them and the level of restoration/refurbishment. My advice: Find another place to play for the next few months.

... did the bartender lie to me or are they really getting refurbished? Would you move tables and chairs in the area that the pool tables were at if they are getting refurbished?
Bartenders will frequently just make stuff up to get rid of people. You should have asked more questions to see if you could trip him up. He might have been telling the truth, though. Or maybe they are getting Diamonds. Or maybe the coin-op company that actually owns the tables will have supply issues -- there are a lot of those going around -- and they won't be able to get the new rail sets for a month. When you confront the bartender next time, watch his eyes. Good luck. (y)

I usually try and get to the bar by 630am at the latest. I like to get my favorite stool.

The tables? Probably a couple weeks.

Let us know how it goes.

Take care

From my experience when the tables disappear they reappear as different tables.

Or they wont reappear at all.

1... I Cant believe they would take ALL of them out at the same time to refurbish. If they were owned by a vendor, that vendor would bring some in to replace them. They usually have a bunch of them.

2. It would probably cost more for a ground up refurbish then to get different tables.

3. The only refurbishing a Valley table needs is replacement rails, cushions, and cloth. With respect to Bob's post, Penguin replacement rails are in good supply. My brother and I have no problems getting them. And the Penguins are about the same price or cheaper then the Valley brand replacements. Penguin's are $200 (7 foot, set of 6) uncovered.

Justin, bartender yanking yo chain. Cornholing from now on at that bar, I'm here now
talking to the bartender, he laughing like all get out.
If true, I would never go to that establishment again. Not because of no tables, but because the bartender was an asshole.

But on the other hand, maybe the bartender just doesn't like Jamie Lion.

I'd say they are never coming back, and you need to find another place to play. They can have new cushions and cloth installed in-place in a couple hours. Why remove them and take away a revenue stream when it can be done in the off-hours quickly? If they are being replaced, then the vendor could have brought the new tables with him in his truck, installed them, and then put the old ones in the truck to take away. He'd save time and make more money on the job that way.

All this to me means no more pool at this bar.
