How Many Bumps are Too Many

I don't care how many bumps an item gets. It makes absolutely no difference to me at all... has no effect on me.

Me neither ... if I don't like the cue or the seller, I just ignore it and move on.

Good point...

worthy of a bump!!!

To a respond to a previous point, all I do is look at this forum and the cue gallery...so I think it makes for good conversation.

Bump, Bump and--away!!!

I try not to bump more than 5-6 times. after that I just start a new thread with a lower price or more info etc.

So how many bumps are just too darn many when trying to sell something?

I saw one thread where there are 31 posts and 16 of them (not counting the first post) are the sellers.

I know I have bumped my threads a few times when trying to sell something but just when does it become "enough already"?

I don't know the answer to your question but I will give you a free BUMP.

To be honest its threads like this one is the reason why we sellers have to bump are threads multipul times. I put a post up and an hour later its on the second page. This is a for sale forum.

I couldnt agree more Troy ! Rep For you !

Thanks Larry

i don't like the bump. it gives the impression that there are replies, so i end up scrolling through cr@p.

I think it would help if people waited atleast 24 hours since the last post (not your last bump) to bump up the thread. If for some reason your lowering your price, edit your first post. Its funny to me seeing threads that are 95% the seller with posts like $2300, then $2250 then 3 hours later, $2245.. thats overkill.

What I think would help sellers/traders or whoever out is to label the thread title approprietly. Probably alot of people like myself when searching for cues click the "title only" option. If you label your thread , FS: JMW cue or FS:SW cue.. (or even spell the name wrong) im not going to see it show up when searching for a South West or a James White cue. I dont know, just a simple step to take to help interested buyers out when searching for a cue that may be a 5 pages deep.

But! If things stay the way they are now and I just wasted 7 minutes of my life typing this, I could care less. :)

There's a poster in the Wanted/For Sale section who has 3 threads going at the same time listing 3 items he's trying to sell and he's Bumped his own threads a total of - 11 times for the 1st, 12 times for the 2nd, and 14 times for the 3rd. I haven't read anything stating what the limit is, but this seems excessive to me and almost like pushing other posters items away from the front pages each time he bumps his own thread.

I'd like to know what some of the others on this board think of Bumping your own thread like this and in this case the poster is bumping 3 threads at the same time?

1 bump per day should be all that anyone needs, and they should only be allowed 1 f/s thread at a time, it is annoying to see the same person with 2-3 threads, wouldn't it be more efficient to combine all of them like most do then you'd only have to bump one and it'd be more likely that others would be bumping it for u with ?'s and offers, i always browse all the new posts here and would assume most others do and not just the front page so bumps are kinda pointless, if it's gonna sell it's gonna sell

this section desperately needs its own moderator to handle issues like this and other issues like rip off artists

AM I GLAD I FOUND THIS THREAD!
THIS HAS BEEN AN INCREDIBLE WEEK , I HAVE A HUGE SCHON CUE FOR SALE... 1017 LTD.

YOU HAVE TO CHECK THIS -
I ONLY KNOW THE 1017 TO BE THE SCHON "DICE" CUE , LATE THIS MORNING...
SOMEONE eMAILS AND TELLS ME , IT'S NOT "DICE", IT'S "BACKGAMMON"!

* *(( "B A C K G A M M O N" ))* *!??

I NEED TO ASK - SCHON 1017 LTD , "DICE" CUE or "BACKGAMMON" CUE?
;)

LINK TO eBAY AUCTION:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170115752786

i dont know.. but if you look at the dice, they are lined up so that the same side of each dice top to bottom adds up to 7... when Evan Clarke uses dice it seams he likes to do that.. place the dots so they equal 7 or 11...

so i would say its CRAPS.. not backgammon... but who cares really.. its a sweet cue..and the 3 dimensional dice look great..so best of luck with your sale....

the problem is this forum gets a lot of posts, and things get dropped too quickly to be given a chance to be seen. being seen is of particular importance here.

i think "wanted" is useless or should have it's own forum. maybe breaking down "for sale" into specific areas might help since azb is so forum-happy anyway.

cues
accessories
tables
porn
equipment

,,,,are a few catagories i can think of.

My 2 cents

I say "there ain't nothing wrong with a little Bump and grind." For those people that complain that their "stuff" keeps getting knocked to the back quickly because of multiple bumps, maybe you need to bump more to keep up with the pace, or just sell better stuff. if it is something people want, it doesn't matter what page it is on, because it usually doesn't last long enough to get to page 2 before being sold. So is it other people's BUMPS that are killing you, or just the fact that what you are selling, nobody wants at your price? Now the same goes for the excessive "bumpers" who can bump 30 times and never sell the item. I say, bump all you like, because if you have an item that somebody wants, it will sell no matter how many bumps it gets or doesn't get. Stuff sells when it is a good deal and somebody wants it. The only thing that can hurt a sale is the seller's price, ability to haggle, and the product for sale in the first place. Believe me, other people's bumps aren't killing your sale, Nobody wants your DALE PERRY!!!!!

I have got one, so I can make that joke, and it is not for sale, and I won't be bumping it.

Bumps

I am quilty of the Bumps pratice..If you look at the bottom of the Forum you will usually see that there is an equal amount of guests and members..Some of those guests i am sure are regulars who just dont want to join the Forum..Others may have been told about an item from a friend and directed here to see the items for sale.. Either way it really doesn't matter..If you have seen the post and dont like what you see dont go there again..My 2 cents worth...Don :D
